My husb and I are hoping to come to Wismar when our cruise dock in Warnemunde. I am in a wheelchair and my husb is not handicapped. I can stand and walk with a railing or with my husb's arm. My question is how possible is it to see Wismar historical sights, how best do we get from Warnemunde to Wismar, time, transfer and bringing the small motorized wheelchair which can be stored in the trunk of a regular size vehicle and returning ot Warnemunde for ship departure at 10 pm. If there are any travel guides available who speak some English we would like that iformation also. Thank you. Karen

I will be staying a few days in Seebad Ahlbeck in June, 2011. On departure, I would like to travel to Szczecin. I see there is a local train from Seebad Ahlbeck to Swinoujsche and that the station is located at the western end of town. I need to make my way to the Polish (main) station which I belive entails a walk to the ferry terminal, then a ferry crossing to the eastern side. Is the way easy to find and how long should I allow myself to get from station to station for the transfer? Does the ferry run all day and how often does it make the crossing? Does it finally arrive at the Polish main station or do I need to walk further?

Dear Virtual tourist.
We are planning a trip til Rostock from 26/11 to 27/11 this year to discover the Christmas market.
We are planning to go by train to Gedser and take the ferry to Rostock. My question to you is: Which is the easiest way to go from the ferry to the Center og Rostock with public transportation?
I am aware that the christmas market is a very popular occation and many people go to Rostock during that period. Do you believe that we should book restaurants visits before we go?
I am looking forward for you answer.
Best regards
Lene Monad

Hello,
We are in port arriving 8am and departing at midnight so we want to see as much as we can.
We hope to travel (by train)to Schwerin and Rostock and also do the molli gauge railway ride as well.We plan to explore Warmemunde itself on our return before getting back on the ship.
My question is will we have time include all these and could someone please advise us on the best route for us to combine all these sights logically.
We welcome all suggestions and advice.
Thank you.

Hi all,
I'm visiting Rostock this weekend and have one day to explore the city by myself. It's going to be a Sunday (since lots of stores will be closed), but I'd like to see a market if there is one on Sunday and the downtown. I'll be staying about a km away from the main train station. Any suggestions about what to see would be appreciated. Also, is it impossible to find a grocery store in the neighborhood? I'd like to buy some chocolate :)
Thanks,
Sue

We are going on shore excursion for a day to Warnemunde and booking on a cruise ship could be very pricey. I would like your advice whether we can just go on our own for about 4 to 5 hour trip. How much would that cost and what are the attractions in Warnemunde?

Hi people!!
I am visiting Warnemunde for a day in a few weeks and trying to find something fun to do there or near by... A beer tour or an adrenaline activity or something out of the norm sounds good but I haven't found anything online that can help me out. Any ideas? I am really looking forward to the visit but would like to do something besides the usual. Any information is appreciated!! Thanks!!

We are going to Strasburg and Germany Dec 22-28th to visit the Chrismas Markets and have a European Christmas experience. My concern is that everything will be closed on Sunday the 24th, Monday the 25th and Tuesday the 26th. Does anyone know if 3 of our 6 days are going to be so shut down for the holidays that there will be no shopping, no open restaurant and no active market? We hate the idea of 3 days of meals in our Hotel! Any suggestions?Kathy

Hello,
I have rather a weird question...but is there anyone who has been to or would be able to tell me anything about this small town? I have a friend who has a house there and I will (hopefully) be coming to stay for a little while during June (World Cup time). I have been having trouble finding websites, etc., that have information about it.
I will be planning on flying into Berlin and taking the train to Warin.
This will be my first time to Germany (and, as of right now, I know very sparse German). I have been told that in this part of Germany it is difficult to run into other English-speakers (not that I am coming to Germany to meet other English-speakers, just that I don't have much confidence in my being able to speak German, but I will try my best):). Anyways, any insight that can be offered would be appreciated!

Hello...
I am taking my 13 year old on a European vacation in late May into early June. We plan to travel to Amsterdan from Atlanta Georgia USA, spend a few days there and then travel by train from Amsterdam to Koblentz. We would like to stay in the Koblentz area for 3 or 4 days. I am interested in any suggestions for things to see and do. We definately want to take a boat trip on the Rhine, possibly the castle or Nastalgia tour offered by K-D boat lines, and possibly also take a trip on the Mosselle. I prefer not to rent a car. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or comments relating to public transportation, hotels, or guest houses in the area or any tips about the area that would make it easier for us. I would also be interested in hiring a guide to take us around for 1 to 2 days. I would love to show Ian the perfect side of this area of Germany before we return by train to Amsterdan and fly home. I was in this awesome town and Rhine/Moselle area in 2002 and want so much to share it with him.. I would greatly appreciate any answers...
Thank you
Renee

I will be off a cruise ship in Aug for several hours and am interested in doing genealogy work in town of stabelow. I cannot find any info on that town. Can the town be reached by public transport from Warnamunde port? Know any Pingel people from that area to refer me too? The only other choice I would have would be a shore excursion covering the countryside of Mecklenburg and then I don't know if we would pass thru Stabelow. Any WWW addresses would help or suggestions. Thanks

A couple of weeks ago, I returned to Sweden with the night train from Berlin via Sassnitz. On the way to the ferry, I saw several clusters of what looked like radio masts or similar, blinking in sequences with a red light.
Since it was a November night, it was impossible to see if it was indeed masts, or if it was chimneys, but I never saw any smoke (although it looked like some power station thing as far as lights go). There were LOADS of these things and all blinking in a sequence which gave a very spooky effect when seen from a train.
The train was too fast for me to see what every little village was called, but the first of these (I saw a couple) was just north of Neubrandenburg.
What did I see??? :)))

"Oldenburg is a smallish town in the north-western Land Niedersachsen.", VT-Member RexMundi wrote, and he certainly means > Europe > Germany > Land Niedersachsen > Oldenburg -- http://www.virtualtourist.com/vt/76b5/ .
But "Oldenburg" at this VT-tree (path) is situated in Europe > Germany > Land Mecklenburg-Vorpommern > Oldenburg , a small place in the North of this German state at the coast of the Baltic Sea.
So any pages here are misplaced.
BTW: There is another one "Oldenburg" in > Europe > Germany > Land Schleswig-Holstein > Oldenburg in Holstein -- http://www.virtualtourist.com/vt/76b3/ .
