After staying in antigua for three nights, we are traveling to panajachel for a couple days. If you know anything about hotels, activities, restaurants, etc., I would appreciate it.

Panajachel - San Cristobal De La Casas Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 08:47 AM UTC
is there a strait shuttle bus from Panajachel to San Cristobal de la Casas and how much it costs, or one has to do a lot of bus changes as it was discribed by one VT member? I am looking for the fastest way (if any), rather than the cheapest way. any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Helpful infromation & suggestions Posted: Mon April 9, 2007 10:37 PM UTC
Hi, I will be visiting Panajachel & Solola in a month or so & need basic travel info once I get to Gutemala City.
Would someone please advise how far it is from Panajachel to Solola & how far Guatemala City is from both of them?
I want to move to either Panajachel or Solola & need general information on that as well, if someone would please be so kind.
I am looking for musicians also.
Can you rent Mo-Peds in Guatemala City? I did this in Europe & N Africa for three years,
Thanks

Traveling from Panajachel to Quetzaltenango Posted: Wed January 17, 2007 02:20 AM UTC
I plan to go to Guatemala in March, and I need information about how to travel from Panajachel to Quetzaltenango on a Sunday afternoon. Most of the shuttle information I have seen shows shuttles running from Panajachel to Antigua or Guatemala City, but not to Quetzaltenango. The one shuttle schedule I was able to find showed a morning departure from Panajachel. If there is no good shuttle service, is there a first-class bus? Or only a chicken bus running between the cities? Is it difficult to take luggage on the chicken buses?

Storing luggage Posted: Tue December 26, 2006 05:14 PM UTC
I want to visit San Marcos de la Laguna, but I will have some luggage with me. Can the small launchas handle this?
Or is there a safe place where one can store luggage in Pana?
Also, what is suggested about travelling by boat in the am or pm? I hear the winds can be bad- are there larger ferry type boats to go from Pana to San Marcos de la Laguna that would be more stable?
Thanks for any advice.

What is the best way to get from the Guatemala City airport to San Marcos? Posted: Wed December 20, 2006 02:20 PM UTC
Any ideas on the best travel to San Marcos? We heard that we could spend $100 to take 2 of us directly by shuttle. This seems expensive. Can we take a bus directly to Panachel? How long does that take and how much $? Then how easy is it to get a boat across the lake? Do they run frequently? Is this a difficult journey to negotiate with limited Spanish?

I am thinking of traveling to Lake Atlivan with my 7 years old daughter born in Guatemala. Would you go with a Guatemalan child? Do you feel the country is safe for a woman and child?
