Palma de Mallorca GETTING INTO CITY OF PALMA FROM THE CRUISE SHIP PORT
Posted: Sat October 17, 2009 05:02 PM UTC
HI
MY HUSBAND AND I ARE ARRIVING IN PALMA ON TUESDAY MORNING AND OUR CRUISE SHIP LEAVES PALMA IN THE EVENING. WE THEREFORE HAVE ONE WHOLE DAY IN WHICK TO GET TO AND EXPLORE PALMA. WE HAVE NOT BEEN INTO PALMA SINCE OUR HONEYMOON 28 YEARS AGO SO WE ARE KEEN TO GO BACK ON THIS TRIP.

COULD YOU ADVISE HOW TO GET INTO THE CITY FROM THE CRUISE SHIP PORT PLEASE? I BELIEVE OUR SHIPS WILL BE IN DOCK QUITE A WAY BACK AND SO THEY USUALLY CHARGE JUST TO GET YOU OFF THE PORT (CHEEKY). WOULD IT JUST BE BEST TO GET A TAXI FROM THE END OF THE PORT OR ARE THERE BUSES AVAILABLE DO YOU KNOW? ANY INFO WOULD BE WELCOME. THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR ATTENTION.

ALSO ANY PLACES AROUND THE TOWN WE SHOULD MAKE TIME TO SEE? THANKS AGAIN!

HAVE A GREAT DAY

Palma de Mallorca Spring in Mallorca
Posted: Tue September 15, 2009 12:01 AM UTC
Usually we seek some sunshine in the Med in September/October when the sea is warm and the resorts are quiet.

Next year we are thinking about seeing the Med in springtime, in particular the week before Easter.

I've seen cheap flights to Mallorca from the UK but wondered whether we should be staying in the mountains or near the sea?

There are some amazing properties for rent in the mountains, compared to the bland beachfront developments. Soller in particular looks remarkable and sounds like it should be lively, even in early spring. Will the mountain train to Palma be running that time of year?

We are not going to lie on the beach all day, but will want some sun! Is there much climate difference across the island? We like the idea of hiking the mountains, but would it be too chilly, wet or windy the last week of March?

Palma de Mallorca Which spot in the island for a week?
Posted: Wed May 20, 2009 11:56 AM UTC
Hi, I am wondering where can I go in the island, just came from a short weekend and want to plan a week, however don´t know where to place our base.

I am looking for:
A place to allow us to make excursions by car through the whole island
A hotel not in the middle of Palma, and not far from a town where to go for dinner.
A place where we don´t need to pay to park our car, without losing hours looking for a free place.

Thanks!!

Palma de Mallorca The Train to Soller
Posted: Wed January 21, 2009 03:47 PM UTC
Hello....I'll be in Palma de Mallorca for one day, Friday, Oct 30, and would like to take the train to Soller...I'm coming by way of cruise ship, and our time in port is 8am to 6pm......

I'm having trouble finding times for the train. I've tried to go to their website but can't seem to find any information.

Is it possible to take the train and return back into the port well within my time frame? Would you know how far the train station is from the port?

What would be the cost of a return trip?

If someone has a link to this information..that would be great, too!

Thank you in advance for any information.....!!

Palma de Mallorca Overstaying Tourist
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 11:26 PM UTC
PLEASE HELP!

Dear friends,

I have a friend who is now in Palma de Mallorca. He was invited by his ex-boss to help him running a business there. He had been granted a 3-month tourist visa from Embassy of the Germany in Indonesia. After two months, there's no indication of getting a real job in that busniess and he is now running out of money. He is forced to work at other place to survive living in Mallorca and save money for going back home. What would happen if he stayed there for six months and then fly out of the country? Will he be arrested or pay penalty for overstaying? Please HELP!

Thank you very much for your kind attention!

Palma de Mallorca What to do in Palma, first weekend in February?
Posted: Sun January 4, 2009 10:06 PM UTC
Hello everybody!

I'm visiting Palma with a friend for a long weekend 30/1-01/02 2009 and I would need some tips about what to do? Last time I visited Palma was i 1997, which means that I don't remember so much. Anyway, I've read most of the posts here, about the old town, the cathedral etc, but I'd be grateful if you could give us a few concrete suggestions about "must see" restaurants, clubs/bars, cultural objects/places.
If there's not to much to do in the city, we are also considering renting a car for a day to be able to make a trip into the island in order to see the nature.

Thanks in advance!

Palma de Mallorca Palma this December/January?
Posted: Thu November 13, 2008 12:19 AM UTC
I want to visit Mallorca Island this December/January more specifically during Christmas holidays, will it be the best time to visit there? http://www.majorcainspain.co.uk/weather.html says it will be the worst but now I have booked my trip. Please advise if it will be really bad to in fact bear the cancellation cost? And if it is, then which place particularly in Spain will be worth visiting during this season?
Also, if there is any airport other then Palma De Mallorca? I want to go to Santa Ponsa in fact, how long it will take to get there from Palma if there is no other airport?

Thanks in advance

I have been told by a friend that Transabus, the bus company operating in the Calvia area where Palma Nova is located, offer pre-paid bus passes. Is this correct and can one pass cover 3 people or do I need to buy 3 passes. Can they be purchased on the bus? What do they cost?

Palma de Mallorca One Day Visit on November 1st, All Saint's Day
Posted: Mon August 25, 2008 11:08 PM UTC
We will be visiting Palma off a cruise ship for one day.
Because of the holiday I know many things are closed. One
choice would be to take the train and/or L211 bus and visit
Soller and Port Soller. A second choice is to take the L210
local bus and visit some of the towns like Deia and Valldemossa.
Any advice would truly be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hey guys,

Heading off to Mallorca next Monday, will be staying in l'Arenal and just have a few questions.

#1 Is the l'Arenal area safe?

#2 Are there good places to snorkle, with no jet-skis and tonnes of tourists and if so- where are they?

#3 Is a bicycle a viable source of transport around the island?

Thanks,

Palma de Mallorca Ferry from Palma to Ibiza
Posted: Sat June 7, 2008 10:39 AM UTC
Hi i was wondering what the cheapest ferry or transport is from Palma to Ibiza? I have looked at the Acciona Trasmediterranea and Baleària for the 17th of July and the cheapest i could find was 53 euros. This was cheaper than all the flights i could find including air berlin. Is there a private company or anything that does it cheaper?

Thanks

Palma de Mallorca Cala Vinyes to Magaluf
Posted: Mon May 26, 2008 12:55 PM UTC
Some friends and I are planning to go away this summer. We are looking for a relativly quiet holiday, but also want to be able to go out to the clubs in Magaluf some evenings. We were just wondering how far cala vinyes is from Magaluf. Is it walking distance? and if so is it possible to walk along the beach? Also, how reliable are taxis and busses between the two resorts.

Thanks,

Sarah.

Palma de Mallorca Bus to Soller/Port Soller
Posted: Sun May 25, 2008 11:38 AM UTC
We'll be in Palma one full day off a cruise ship. We plan to take the #1 bus from the port to Placa Espanya. Since we will miss the first train to Soller we want to take either the L210 or L211 bus. Is it fairly easy to find the bus terminal and get these buses? Would a taxi from either the port or Placa Espanya be another option? Any advice would be helpful. We will be in Palma on All Saint's Day and our understanding is that most shops, the Cathedral, some museums are closed. We thought we'd spend the morning in Soller/Port Soller and either take the train/taxi/bus back to the port early afternoon. Thanks for the help.
