Heading off to Mallorca next Monday, will be staying in l'Arenal and just have a few questions.

#1 Is the l'Arenal area safe?

#2 Are there good places to snorkle, with no jet-skis and tonnes of tourists and if so- where are they?

#3 Is a bicycle a viable source of transport around the island?

Me and a couple of my collegues, are planning a 4 nights out in Palma de Mallorca, can you please advice me what is the best place for nightlife and as well the top beaches in Palma de Mallorca, so we can pick the hotel based on that?

IM GOING ON A CRUISE IN AUGUST 08 AND WILL BE IN PALMA FOR A DAY FROM 8AM - 6PM IT WILL BE A SUNDAY AND I WAS WONDERING IF THEYRE WERE ANY BEACHES NOT TOO FAR THAT I COULD GRAB A BUS OR TAXI TO SO I CAN SWIM IN THE BEAUTIFUL WATERS IVE SEEN ON THE INTERNET. MY CRUISE LINE ONLY HAS ONE EXCURSION FOR A BEACH TYPE TOUR AND ITS KAYAKING AND I REALLY DONT WANT TO SPEND $178 TO KAYAK.
ANY INFO WILL BE GLADLY APPRECIATED

Hi i was wondering what the cheapest ferry or transport is from Palma to Ibiza? I have looked at the Acciona Trasmediterranea and Baleària for the 17th of July and the cheapest i could find was 53 euros. This was cheaper than all the flights i could find including air berlin. Is there a private company or anything that does it cheaper?

Im looking for a place to stay 16 - 23.08.08. Area is Pl Reina, Appuntadores, Av Jaume and so on. I want a private bathroom and TV in room.

Me and my girlfriend are going to mallorca for the summer and at present we have no job or accomadation sorted. Every time we look on the internet for places it always gives us holiday homes. Is there anyone with experience in working and liveing in mallorca and could give us any infomation on jobs, accomadation, cost of liveing, how much bar staff can work etc etc etc.

Some friends and I are planning to go away this summer. We are looking for a relativly quiet holiday, but also want to be able to go out to the clubs in Magaluf some evenings. We were just wondering how far cala vinyes is from Magaluf. Is it walking distance? and if so is it possible to walk along the beach? Also, how reliable are taxis and busses between the two resorts.

We'll be in Palma one full day off a cruise ship. We plan to take the #1 bus from the port to Placa Espanya. Since we will miss the first train to Soller we want to take either the L210 or L211 bus. Is it fairly easy to find the bus terminal and get these buses? Would a taxi from either the port or Placa Espanya be another option? Any advice would be helpful. We will be in Palma on All Saint's Day and our understanding is that most shops, the Cathedral, some museums are closed. We thought we'd spend the morning in Soller/Port Soller and either take the train/taxi/bus back to the port early afternoon. Thanks for the help.

I was just wondered if anyone had any advice as to which beaches were accessible from Palma town centre. Are there any within 1 hours walk? Also, any tips as to which are less touristy, even if these are a longer journey away, would be great (I don't really fancy going to Magaluf)! I know Palma isn't the best place to stay from the point of view of beaches, but I would much rather base myself there than stay in a resort.

My friend and I will be in Mallorca next Thursday-Sunday. Puro is booked, can anyone recommend a hip/trendy hotel that is walking distance (or a short ride) to great shopping (not the cheezy tourist kind), restaurants and nightlife? We would like to be on the beach if that is possible.

Any thoughts on what to do , etc. while we are there is much appreciated!

We will be in Palma off a cruise ship on Saturday November 1st. We have the full day from 8:00 to 18:00. Are many things closed? We just wanted to walk around, shop, eat, visit the cathedral, castle.....any suggestions?????

There is three of us heading over for a week in June, but i am so stuck as to what part of the island to stay on.
We are really keen to experience some good cuisine, decent nightlife, and beautiful beaches or coves.
Can anyone suggest a part of the island to stay on or a certain area.

My husband and I will be cruising the Mediterranean in May and will be stopping from 7am to 1pm in Palma de Mallorca. We would prefer to "freelance" rather than sign up for the cruise ship tours. What would you suggest? What are the "must sees" which we could gently visit while spending time strolling and enjoying the city with plenty of time for a non-touristy lunch? Oh! we are 4 men going on a stag party with 20 younger men,we are all around 40 and would like somewhere clean and fairly decent but near to magalluf so we can meet up with the younger men
can anyone recommend any hotels that are not too noisy and fairly decent facilities

mallorca ANY INFORMATION FROM AIRPORT CHEERS. GOING IN MAY ..

Our cruise ship will be docking in Palma for one day and unfortunately it is November 1st. Are all shops, businesses closed? Are cafes closed as well? Any suggestions on how to spend the day?

we are FAMILY OF 3 , looking to come to mallorca on july -- but where to stay ?, we have been to cala d'or, which we liked , but its a bit too far for independant travel - taxis fares etc .
where is good for a young family - away from mad nightlife etc , and not for the mega rich ?
also could you reccomend good apartments - never again will i travel on a package deal .

I have a question about ferries.

Is there a ferry connection between the following islands:
- Menorca and Corsica
- Corsica and Sardinia
- Sardinia and Sicily

I looked up a few ferry websites and I can only find connection between Valencia and Ibiza, Ibiza and Mallorca, Mallorca and Menorca.

My friend and I will be in Mallorca from Feb 11-15. Just wondering what we can do in Palma during the off season and we hear there is a festival in Feb in Palma? Anyone knows the dates of this festival? Any recommendations for a place to stay for below 100 Euros? Thanks.

We want to be away from London this year, something different and a bit warmer would be nice... but we also want it to be fun... is Palma worth coming to?
What is the festival like? And is there a firework display?

Taking a flight with JET 2 next week to palma from Manchester.I booked last week. Can anyone clarify their baggage rules. I've paid £10 return for 1 checked in bag of 18kg. Does this mean I have no hand baggage allowance at all if this weighs in at 18kg exactly. or have I still an allowance of 10 kg on top of this .
If my checked in bag is 14kg does this mean I have an allowance of 4 kg for hand luggage.
Can anyone help?
