Salamanca New Years Eve in Salamanca, Spain
Posted: Wed July 12, 2006 06:29 PM UTC
Hi,

We are travelling to Salamanca for New Years Eve and, after being totally disorganised last year, we're trying to plan where we could go.

The tourist bit of the trip should be fine as there seems to be loads to see. We're staying near the Plaza Mayor. Can anyone please recommend a restaurant we could book a table at, from the UK, for 31/12/06 and some good bars to party at for the night?

Any help or other tips for the trip would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Salamanca Study spanish, what school
Posted: Wed March 8, 2006 03:14 PM UTC
Hello All.

After some extensive research i have narrowed my choice down to one of two schools in Salamanca. The price for the programs are very similar.

1) university of salamanca - program for foreign students
2) don quijote

At U of S the classes are quite large and the core program is 3 hours (you pay additional for the 4th or 5th hour). ALso, the dates are not as flexible. I do love the idea of studying at the university and having access to all of the University facilities. At DQ, they cater to your needs in terms of dates a bit better. The environment may be geared a bit more to older people (i am 30) being that they specialize only spanish as a second language. Both offer residences or homestay.

DOes anyone know about either of the facilities. It is kind of a crap shoot for me at this point being that i don't know much about either. I am looking for the best option possible.

THanks a lot.

Salamanca Prices of apartments in Salamanca please!
Posted: Wed March 8, 2006 10:17 AM UTC
I hope to study in Salamanca next year. I've looked on the university website, and all I can find in regard to accomodation are residence halls, which I don't want. I'm looking for shared apartment accomodation. Does anybody know where I can find this on the internet? Would it have the price of a typical sigle room in a shared flat? Would anybody have a general idea about these prices anyway? (Thanks!)

Salamanca Mixing with people in April time

Is there a senior center there where one can chat or play chess, cards, checkers, lawn bowl? How's chances of playing competitive ping pong, tango dancing, watch the folks fishing, or flamenco at night? Is it easy to get a responsible hired car-driver?

Salamanca Salmanca to Seville: Which option?
Posted: Sun August 21, 2005 10:40 PM UTC
We (2 adults) have 2 options:
A1: Train from Salamanca to Madrid - Chamarti station;
A2: Transfer to AVE train from Madrid - Puerta de Atocha station to Seville.
How far between the two stations? What is the best way to go from Chamarti to Puerta de Atocha station? Metro? Bus? Taxi? How much time will it take?

B1: Bus from Salamanca to Madrid
B2: Transfer to AVE train from Madrid - Puerta de Atocha station to Seville.
How far between the bus terminal and the train station? What is the best way to go from Chamarti to Puerta de Atocha station? Metro? Bus? Taxi? How much time will it take?

Which option will be the most convenient, it would be a long day, we would like to make as smooth as possible.

Thanks for any advice!

My girlfriend is travelling tp Salamanca in a couple months to study abroad and I would like to buy her a few things that would be useful to her on the trip other than the English-Spanish dictionaries that she already has, what are some of the the things people find most useful to bring with them or end up wishing they had brought once they get there? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Salamanca Salamanco - is Pension Lisboa a good place?
Posted: Wed November 10, 2004 05:26 PM UTC
I am considering Pension Lisboa, located at Melendez 1.

I have been told that it costs 13 Euro/night for my own room with sink.

is that correct?

I know that there is no breakfast, no kitchen, no curfew.

This place seems to be located in the middle of the main sight-seeing areas.

Salamanca Spring Break in Salamanca
Posted: Wed October 29, 2003 03:11 PM UTC
Hi,
I am considering visting my friend in Salamanca for Spring Break in March 2004. However, I need a place to stay and all the hostels online are booked. Can anyone help me out, any suggestions? I have never been to Europe before either. How's the nightlife in Salamanca? I love everything from laid back bars to trendy clubs. Also, if anyone knows anything about Florence that'd help too! Thanks!

Salamanca Visiting Salamanca/ Youth Hostel
Posted: Thu October 9, 2003 06:56 PM UTC
Hello.

I’m seriously thinking of visiting Salamanca next week.
I searched the web and found one Hostelling International Youth Hostel in Salamanca, in Calle Escoto 13-15.

How is the Youth Hostel like? Is it a good option?
Do you think it is easy to get a bed there on this time of the year?

I looked in a map and the hostel seems very far from the railway station. What is the best option to go from the station to the hostel?

How is the weather like in Salamanca?

Are there many parties in the city because of the new students?

Finally...
Is anybody up for a meeting/ drink in Salamanca?

Cheers.
