San Sebastián studying in San Sebastion
Posted: Thu July 19, 2007 02:01 AM UTC
I will be in San Sebastion for two months, August and September, and am trying to figure out how much I need to spend on eating out. I am a 19 year old mostly vegetarian who needs to eat three times a day! I am imagining that I can eat breakfast at home inexpensively. Any suggestions for great for or lively eating environments or just cheap and good holes in the wall would be appreciated.

San Sebastián A week in San Sebastian
Posted: Fri June 22, 2007 10:35 AM UTC
Hola!

I will spend the whole of next week in San Sebastian (Sunday 24 - Sat 30 June), and wonder if someone can give me some tips on places to visit - like friendly cafes and bars, good restaurants (for one who is vegetarian, in the main) and quaint bookshops, or anything else interesting, or beautiful.

I've been told the beach is pleasant, and my hotel is a five minute walk away. They should be able to tell me about museums and art galleries.

Cheers,

San Sebastián Pension San Jeronimo - Safe or Sketchy?
Posted: Sat May 26, 2007 07:16 AM UTC
I've made a reservation with Pension San Jeronimo in San Sebastian during the running of the bulls. When I checked hostelworld.com some traveller had written about how he made a reservation here for 2 nights, but when he arrived, the Pension only gave him one night even though he paid for 2, and he had no place to stay the 2nd night!

I e-mailed the Pension using an e-mail address found on my reservation confirmation form, but the e-mail bounced back saying the e-mail address does not exist!

I had to reserve here because there were no other options - all booked because of the Running of the Bulls. But I'm wondering if I might end up showing up and this Pension not having space for me or something like that. So far, the place seems sketchy. Does anyone know anything at all about this Pension or heard anything about it?

Thanks so much!!

San Sebastián Where is this?

A simple question. I've found these pictures of San Sebastián:

http://viswiz.imk.fhg.de/~foursa/photos/29-san-sebastian/crw_7026_rj_web.jpg

This is a very interesting place. Does it have a name? How can I reach it? It would be great if you could locate it for me on a map.

Thank you

San Sebastián What are your area preferences?
Posted: Tue May 30, 2006 07:37 PM UTC

I've been looking at some options for accommodations in San Sebastian and Bilbao and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend one particular area over another, and also under what names are they normally listed.

What would you recommend for someone looking to stay in a busy /but not overwhelming/ place in close proximity to some of the main streets and/or point of interest. Half an hour of walkind would be close enough for me. :)

Thank you very much !

San Sebastián just a beginner...
Posted: Fri May 26, 2006 03:07 PM UTC

Hi there!

I will be flying from Toronto to Bilbao in a month. The purpose of my trip is to explore the Basque region, learn Spanish, get to know the people and to investigate some possibilities for legal stay and employment. So far my on-line search for accommodation and additional information for my stay hasn't been so successful, and I begin to feel a little bit worried. Last year I did fly-and-drive throughout the Costas, but there was so much information in English and the rest was easy.
I would be extremely grateful for your feedback, please share your thoughts, recommendations and maybe some first hand experiences.

Thanks in advance !

San Sebastián accomodation in Donostia
Posted: Sun May 21, 2006 02:58 PM UTC
Hi,
Ive been given a job working in a language school in Donostia but it doesnt pay all that much - about 600 euros a month and Im worried that I wont be able to afford to live in the city. Does anyone know how to find cheap accomodation there? Or would it be better to live in a nearby village?
Also, a friend of mine has got a job in Vitoria. We were hoping to get a flat together, but it seems like the public transport between the two cities is expensive and slow, so if anyone knows of a village thats roughly the same distance between the two cities, that would help a lot! Or, would it be easy for my friend to find a job in Donostia working in a tourist office or a bar or something??
Sorry about the bombardment of questions! Thanks/ Gracias/ Eskerrik asko!

San Sebastián Language (Basque, Spanish, Catalan, English)?
Posted: Thu May 4, 2006 02:52 PM UTC
I would love try out some basque language when i take my trip to donostia next month, but it seems so impenetrable... will the locals mind my bad pronunciation, or should i stick to my (equally bad) spanish?

When i look at restaurant menus (when not eating pintxos) what langauge will they be written in?

Is this holiday going to be difficult for me with my poor language skills?
