Provincia de Puerto Plata Weather Worries
Posted: Sat December 16, 2006 02:15 PM UTC
We are planning a trip in Nov 2007, and everywhere you read, it makes it seem like it rains all day, every day.

Is it rainy like hawaii? or only at night?

I understand, it's weather, and it can change - but there has to be some sort of pattern/average.

We are going either way to to Puerto Plata, but may change dates...

We are staying @ the Lifestyle Villa's - how are those? They look really nice..

Sosúa Possibly moving to Sosua, Dominican Republic
Posted: Tue October 17, 2006 09:13 PM UTC
My friends, I am contemplating the idea of pucrchasing a home and living in Sosua. I have checked online and I have found some very nice homes. I know that it is a process, that I am more than willing to undertake. Are there any members who live in or around Sosua, who can tell me any additional things about the area, other than what I have found on the internet. Annual property taxes, becoming a permanent resident, etc. I welcome any and all replies.

Thanks in advance,
Fellow traveler,

Provincia de Puerto Plata Los Gringos
Posted: Fri September 22, 2006 12:40 PM UTC
This "Hotel" is comprised of only 3 beachfront cabanas according to their website (www.losgringosdr.com/) and has very nice reviews on TripAdvisor (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g147290-d618800-Reviews-Los_Gringos-Puerto_Plata_Dominican_Republic.html).

However you never know whether a tourist wrote the review or if it was the owner or relative. Especially if they don't leave an e-mail address.

Anyone know anything about this property? It seems remarkably inexpensive! ($300 per week)

My friend and I booked a trip to Puerto Plata at the end of April-begining of May. We were looking at the weather and noticed that April is the 2nd rainiest season, but since our vacation is at the very end of April we're hoping it isnt going to rain all the time.

Does anyone have advice abuot the weather during this time? Are we going to get rained out?

Thanks!

Provincia de Puerto Plata Transportation from Santiago to Puerto Plata

I am taking a vacation in Puerto Plata this April. Flights have been very expensive and difficult to arrange (from DC area) I am finding that it is significantly cheaper to fly into Santiago. Does anyone know what type of transportation is available from Santiago to the resorts of Puerto Plata? Prices? Safety? Thanks!

Cabarete Cabarete Hotels
Posted: Fri January 20, 2006 07:40 PM UTC
I heard that many hotels in Cabarete don't allow for you to bring guests to your room. I understand the rationale being that they do not want to cater to prostitution, but what if a young single gent like myself meets someone through more conventional means? I cannot have them to my room? I am staying at Villa Taina, which I understand to be one of Cabarete's finest, making this seem even more uncertain. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks much.
