Hello,

Is here anyone who had a vacation in Puerto Plata in july. Can someone tell me what kind of weather it was out there?
I leave in july to Puerto Plata and i hope there is more sun than clouds and thunderstorms.

I hope someone knows an answer on this question.

Greetings

Cabarete Cabarete in August
Posted: Wed January 9, 2008 12:32 PM UTC
Hi!
I'm concidering going to Cabarete in august/september, but I've heard that that is the main hurricane season. I'm wondering if it is as bad as everyone says it is, or if it is still possible to travel to Cabarete for diving, beach and so forth, or should I plan the trip for another time?

Thanks for any answers =)

Cabarete Canyoning and other 'adventure' sports
Posted: Fri November 23, 2007 09:29 AM UTC
Hi, I'm planning to visit Cabarete early January. Besides hitting the beaches, I'd also love to do some 'adventure' sports. Mountain biking is high on the list, but I'm also a sucker for canyoning. I checked activecabarete.com and it's mentioned there, but I can't find any details. Does anyone know if it is possible to go on a canyoning trip in Cabarete or anywhere else in the DR?

Other tips always welcome!

Many thanks...

Provincia de Puerto Plata Puerto Plata and good times
Posted: Tue August 14, 2007 07:59 PM UTC
Hey

A friend and I (both 25 yr old males) are looking into an all inclusive in Purto Plata / Playa Doral at the end of sept. We are wondering what awaits us. We are both single and looking to have a good time down there, hopefully get out for a few 'night's on the town'. Is that a descent time to go? What kind of costs are we looking at for a good 'party' night. Is there any clubs/discos that anyone can recommend? Are the disco's at the resort good aswell? Also, if anyone has also been to varadero, would you recommend one over the other?

Thanks very much

Sosúa I need the board members assistance (thank you in advance)
Posted: Fri July 13, 2007 04:16 AM UTC
I am traveling from Santo Domingo to Sosua. I have three hotels in mind and open for suggestions. The three are: Ricks Bar, Casa Serena or Hotel Colibri. All three in the same price range. Which is a higher recomendation? Others to consider? I donot have a hotel in Santo Domingo yet, I am hoping to find one for under US $40. Thank you for your assistance. I am a teacher in a tight budget.

Provincia de Puerto Plata Nightlife And Other Fun In Puerto Plata, Sosua and Cabarete
Posted: Fri June 8, 2007 11:00 PM UTC
We will be staying at the Riu Merengue. But plan to visit places off the resort. Any recommendations for bars and clubs? We both speak Spanish and my wife, who is originally from Ecuador, loves dancing to merengue music. So hopefully we can find an authentically DR club with more locals than tourists. Any ideas? Also we would appreciate suggestions on tours and other places to visit in order to have the best and wildest time possible. Thanks!

Provincia de Puerto Plata Villa / apartment in or near sosua & car hire
Posted: Sun April 1, 2007 11:24 AM UTC
Hi we are looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom self catering place to rent for 3 weeks next january in or within very easy walking distance of the beach / shops in sosua.Ideally we would like a small villa / bungalow with a pool - but would be glad to hear of any suggestions - especially if people can recommend somewhere where they have had a good experience! we're on a resonably tight budget - somewhere around or preferably under £600 per week. We've looked at Villa Brigitte but it's just a little too far away from the town - we're going to hire a car for part of our stay but not all of it. Also, does anyone have any suggestions for good CHEAP car hire in Sosua? thanks ever so much

Provincia de Puerto Plata Looking for information on puerto plata
Posted: Sat March 31, 2007 06:20 PM UTC
Hi all I am traveling to DR with 2 buddies in may this year and we were looking to stay at blackbeards but they are booked up. We are looking for a nice hotel or villa close to blackbeards. Can anyone tell me how close Sousa is to Puerto Plata. We will be driving so we can get around. We are not looking for the all inclusive because they restrict you. I have been to Puerto Plata 2 times and loved it. Thanks if you can give me any information.

Sosúa Spending Money and Clothing....Please Help!
Posted: Sun March 11, 2007 02:32 PM UTC
Hi
i am going to Sosua in 2 weeks time :) Yes i am very excited now.
I am staying for 2 weeks all inclusive but would like an idea of how much money to take.
We like to do a few excursions...possibly want to swim with dolphins whilst there, do abit of shopping (the usual sovenir buying) and also eat out a few nights as we dont like to stay in the hotel for the full 2 weeks.
Can anyone recommend how much to take? Also can you use sterling travellers cheques out there?

Plus id love to know what kind of clothing will be needed? Is it hot at night or will i need a jacket, trousers etc?

Thank you,
Stacey xxxx

Cabarete help with flight question?!!
Posted: Tue January 30, 2007 12:51 AM UTC
Please help me!! myself and four other friends are staying in Cabarete at the end of March '07. The problem we're running into is, we can save a large amount of money by flying into STI vs POP. My question is... How much money (US$)to take a bus or taxi from the STI airport to Cabarete? Is it feasable to do such a thing or should we just "bite the bullett so to speak and spend the extra cash and fly into POP? Secondly, I have seen on other forums that most people say to bring around 1000 us dollars per couple for the week, however, those forums were from 2-3 years ago. Has the cost gone up or stayed the same? Thanks for you help!!

Provincia de Puerto Plata Weather Worries
Posted: Sat December 16, 2006 02:15 PM UTC
We are planning a trip in Nov 2007, and everywhere you read, it makes it seem like it rains all day, every day.

Is it rainy like hawaii? or only at night?

I understand, it's weather, and it can change - but there has to be some sort of pattern/average.

We are going either way to to Puerto Plata, but may change dates...

We are staying @ the Lifestyle Villa's - how are those? They look really nice..
