Hi,

I have booked 2 flight back home and it seems now that I will not catch the 1st on , but be a few days before the 2nd one already in Santiago !
So I will take 1 day for the city, BUT what else can I do there in the surrounding as an easy daytrip ??
A carmuseum would be perfect for me, or maybe you have a better idea ?
Finisterre - I dont think I will do that, I was walking enough already to get to Santiago...

My wife and I are planning to walk east from Santiago to Melide--or as far east as we can get in a week. Is there bus service from Melide back to Santiago?

Hello, We are sailing to Vigo mid April. The 7 day cruise has been chosen especially because we stop for a whole day in Vigo and want to see S de C (we hope to return again then by land next holiday).

We have been reading about the City and would like to visit it on our own instead of booking a cruise coach (which seems to include stops for tea/cakes, souvenir shops, etc.

Is it possible to get a return trip independent coach etc from Vigo to S de C (or would it be very expensive by taxi)?
Also any advice on the 'must not miss' things would be very appreciated.
Many thanks.

I have a reservation for an automatic car to be pick up at Santiago de Compostela Airport in January for 6 days. The cost is 422 for the six days. I can still make a reservation for the same car with a manual transmission for half the price for what I will be paying for the automatic. This is my situation: I can drive an manual as long as I do not have to go up a hill where there might be a light in the middle of the hill and have to use the clutch and brake pedal. I had a bad experience in Tenerife, Spain and do not want to relive this experience again. However I spent one week in Lisboa, Portugal and rented a manual transmission car and never had a problem with the roads, everything seem to be at level no hills. Can anyone make any recomendations? What driving like in Santiago de Compostela? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hello people. Finally i'm planning a very postponed trip to Galicia, Spain, and other points of Europe. I was thinking of going from Santiago de Compostela or Vigo to Carcassonne by train, across Cantabria and Asturias, making stops in Gijon,Bilbao and San Sebastian before crossing to France.-But searching in spanish railways I've found it's very complicated because the timetables and routes are extremely slow.- Can somebody tell me if there is some solution by other way or maybe the only one is to rent a car?

We will be visiting the cathedral in July with two elderly people who have a bit of problem with mobility, thus the need to park the car as close as possible to the site. Directions for a parking area for about half a day stay would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

We would like to make Camino de Santiago from Roncesvalles to Santiago in August this year by bike.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for us (2 people) to go in other less crowded dates.

As 2010 is Holy Year in Santiago, we are afraid there will be so many people making the Camino. And, as we are going by bike, we have no preference in "Albergues", as people going on walk are accomodated first.

Do you think is it reasonably possible to try to make the trip, or would it be too risky and we would probably have problem to find a place to sleep?

Thank you very much.

I just bought an airline ticket to Santiago de Compostela, but suddenly realized that, when I arrive at the airport, it would be (after) midnight! There surely won't be any more buses, but even the taxis may no longer wait for customers! What should I do? I don't know anyone there and there is no hotel in the airport. Is there a hot-line for taxis that still operate at this hour? Any other safe, secure idea? Thanks!!

Trying to figure out the best way to get from M to S. I'm walking the English route of El Camino, Ferrol-Santiago. The train schedule I looked at says Madrid to Santiago is 6 hours. Is that correct?

Greetings.

I'll be hiking from St. Jean Pied de port to Burgos this summer (2010)
I have to make a flight back home from Paris on July 4th, so I need to
find a way from Burgos to Bayonne, and Bayonne to Paris.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

We are arriving in Santiago de Compostela on the 27th of May and have reservations for 2 nights. We have a flight from Porto on the 4th of June (to Marrakech) We have been to Porto for a few days only before. We are very big train afficionados. Should we also go to San Sebastian or Leon and backtrack to Porto?
What time are the trains from Vigo to Porto. I speak Spanish if you don't mind my grammar. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,
I'm planning a pilgrimage, albeit an abridged version, to Santiago in 2010. I'll probably only have a week. I'm looking for suggestions on how to prepare. For example: Taking into consideration weather, traffic on the Camino, and air fare....
1) What's the best time of year to go?
2) Since I only have a week, where should I start if I want to arrive in Santiago a week later?
3) What books should I be reading now(aside from Shirley McClaine's)?
4) How much can I expect to spend on the actual trail?
5) What kind of gear am I going to need?

We are visiting Santiago de C in mid September for a few days. We have travelled through Spain quite extensively and know that veggie food can be tricky to come by (we usually self-cater, but this time we are in a hotel for 4 days). We love Italian food, but any suggestions for reasonably priced places to eat would be very much appreciated. We do eat dairy produce and eggs, just no meat or fish products of any kind. Thanks in anticipation!
