Sevilla Murillo or San Gil
Posted: Wed October 3, 2007 09:19 PM UTC
Hi, I have a question. Next year we're going to Sevilla in june. We would like to make our booking asap because the flight tickets are cheaper that way. So we also want to be sure we have a hotel. We wanted to book hotel Murillo first but then we saw Hotel San Gil is in the old town and has a swimming pool. Prices for the two hotels are very different and I read somewhere that San Gil is a lot further from the city center than they say in the brochure. I also read that San Gil isn't worth his 4 stars and the rooms and breakfast aren't what is promised in the brochure. Can anyone help us with our choice please? Quick answers would be appreciated a lot! Greetings

Sevilla 4 Tickets Wanted: Real Betis v. Real Madrid, 17/2/2008
Posted: Tue September 25, 2007 04:01 AM UTC
Hi, are there any season ticket holders out there who may be unable to attend this game. We're traveling to Spain for the first time and are big football (soccer in the U.S.) fans. We need 4 tickets for the game, and I hoped I might be able to avoid going through a ticket agent or broker, given the cost. thanks so much for any help you can provide.

Sevilla Thinking about Sevilla
Posted: Tue September 25, 2007 02:21 AM UTC
My sister and I are considering traveling to Sevilla, Spain in April of 2008 to visit my daughter who will be spending second semester of college there. Travel books we have read have many cautions about the high number of muggings and thefts due to high unemployment. We are considering not going. Has anyone traveled there recently that can help us put this safety issue into perspective? We really want to go but don't want to be aprehensive about walking around safely.

Sevilla Park & Ride for Seville
Posted: Mon September 24, 2007 11:17 AM UTC
Is there a park & ride facility for getting into city centre easily? I plan to drive from Hueva area near Portugal border for a day trip into Seville and wish to park easily. Could there be a place to catch a train or bus just on the edge or outskirts of Seville? We visit this week.

Sevilla Family accommodation
Posted: Mon September 24, 2007 09:55 AM UTC
Whilst I would love to stay in the executive suite at Hotel Alfonso XIII, which looks perfect for a family of 4... I need to be a LOT more realistic!

Am trying to find a hotel in Sevilla. We will have a car with us so it could be just outside the city. Need somewhere to park at night and it would be convenient if could do that at hotel. A family of 4 (2 children aged 6 & 8) & would prefer children stay in same room as us (which seems to be my falling point) - can stay in 2 inter-connecting rooms but that usually bumps the price sky high.

It will only be for 1 night in March 08 which is a long way off but it's part of a driving trip so am trying to be organised and getting accommodation sorted before places are really booked up (especially because thisi s over the Easter period). Will be travelling up from Gibraltar and then heading off towards Codoba, so if acommodation outside of Sevilla would be good to be in either of these directions :)

Any suggestions would be fantastic & very much appreciative

cheers x

Sevilla Where to stay with a cultural vibe?
Posted: Sat September 15, 2007 11:17 PM UTC
Hi everyone,

I'm planning a trip to Sevilla for la Feria de Abril next year and am looking into places to stay. I stayed in a hostel in Madrid recently and as my first experience in a hostel, I had a really great time. The only thing that disappointed me was the obvious, it was full of tourists, which meant the majority of the people I met and went out with, as I was travelling alone, were other Westerners. I speak Spanish and am truly hoping to have some more direct contact with Spaniards this time around.

Can anyone recommend a cheap place to stay in Sevilla where I could stay but with a more cultural rather than international feel? I'm looking for somewhere where I'll find more Spaniards than foreigners, basically, although I'm sure at that time of the year there will be tourists everywhere you look. Either way, you get the idea...any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Also, if you could recommend other places in Andalucia that are off the beaten track and shouldn't be missed, I'd love to know about them!

Thanks in advance! Ashley

Sevilla Flamenco venue & Bull fighting
Posted: Thu September 13, 2007 09:32 AM UTC
Hi Folks,

My GF and I are off to seville in 7 days and we would quite like to catch some Flamenco...we're not looking for anything to OTT (tourist) although if that is all that's available then so be it. Does anyone know of any good clubs/venues to watch Flamenco?

we're also hoping to catch a bull fight, although I think the season is over now isn't it?

Thanks in advance

Sevilla Bicycle Rental in Sevilla
Posted: Thu August 23, 2007 06:29 AM UTC
Hi,

I'm looking for somewhere to rent touring bikes (preferably with pannier racks) to go riding for 2 weeks in southern Spain, starting in Seville. Does anyone know of any good bike rental places in Seville? It looks like Rent-a-bike Seville only rents folding bikes for city travel, while I'd prefer something sturdier with gears.

Thanks!

Hi there,

Has anyone stayed in the 'apartment building' affiliated with the Oasis Hostel Seville? I tried to book a double room in the hostel, and have been told I'll be placed there. Any info would be appreciated (since there is nothing about it on the website).

Sevilla Sevilla Santa Justa -> Barrio Santa Cruz bus route
Posted: Sat August 11, 2007 07:39 PM UTC
Hi, we're arriving at Sevilla Santa Justa station and are staying near Plaza Santa Cruz.

From the city bus map [http://www.tussam.es/fileadmin/editores/pdf/plano_sevilla_completo.pdf], it looks like the best way to go is to take Bus 21 [which passes a few blocks from Santa Justa] to Puerta de la Carne, and walking from there. Has anyone taken this route?

Sevilla `Jesus Chasing the Moneylenders from the temple' in Seville Cathedral
Posted: Sat July 28, 2007 07:28 PM UTC
There are a number of nice photos on VT of what is the entry through the Mudejar style portal into the Seville Cathedral courtyard (Patio de los Naranjos). I was wondering however: according to the history book I am
reading above it is a bas relief of `Jesus driving out the traders from the
temple'. Can anybody get me a photo of that by any chance? it is there? The book I am reading is by Marcelin Defourneaux, Golden Age of Spain.
I am a historian and am looking for this image.

Sevilla Need a travel buddy for 7/27/07 Leaving from Madrid on the Ave
Posted: Wed July 25, 2007 12:33 PM UTC
Hello, I am planning to take the AVE to Sevilla for a day trip there, returning in the evning back to Madrid (where I am staying). I would love to have a travel buddy so that I wont have to be alone. If anyone is interested, please email or call me. 34661064206. I would like to see the main 2 sights (Alcazar and forgot what the other one is called..sorry) and if we have time, see the rest of what the city has to offer. Steve Ricks says that one day is enough to see Sevilla..so I am going by his words. I plan to leave Madrid on the Ave by 7:30 and leave sevilla by the last Ave train at 22:00. I`m a 27 year old girl, orginally from Thailand but live in San Francisco. My name is Kwan.

Sevilla Where to buy tickets for Sevilla FC (football)
Posted: Sat July 21, 2007 06:23 PM UTC
Hey guys I am from Canada, looking to visit the country of my grandparents in september , I was wondering where can we buy tickets for the soccer game (sevilla FC) on the internet? most sites are euro centric (ie taxes included like VAT and stuff which is not really applicable to north americans), so its mostly for europeans i find, they will ship tickets the week before and etc. wondering if its worth my time buying them when i get there, the game is not a high profile one so idont expect it to sell out ( its between Sevialla and espanyol), if anyone of you has come across a good site thats available for everyone to buy from, please let me know. It would be MUCH MUCH appreciated.

one love

Sevilla Stag weekend in sevilla
Posted: Fri July 20, 2007 11:40 AM UTC
I am thinking of organising a stag weekend in sevilla in February. As part of the weekend i would really like to get football tickets for a game and i have found out that Real Betis are playing at home against Real Madrid on 17th February.

Does anyone know whether it will be possible to get tickets for that game or will it be a sell out as it's madrid?

Also - can anyone tell me what the night life is like on a sunday night after football in spain generally? Do a lot of Spanish people go out or are bars / pubs quiet?

Sevilla Where To Park In Sevilla?
Posted: Thu July 5, 2007 01:03 AM UTC
Hello everyone,

I am planning a day trip by car to Sevilla from Faro, Portugal. I would like to visit the area containing the Cathedral and the Alcazar but I have read that driving in Sevilla is a nightmare. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can park my car and from which I can then walk or take a taxi into the centre of the city?

Thanks so much,

John
