Isla de Tenerife Questions about Tenerife
Posted: Thu July 24, 2008 08:25 PM UTC
1. I ve read somewhere that the beast beach in the las Americas - los Cristianos area is Playa de las vistas. Do you agree?

2. Have you got any idea when Siam Park is opening?

3. Someone mentioned hot air balloon rides over the los cristianos/ las americas resort? Where are these found? Is it a worthwhile experience?

4. I need to know where to get info about activities during d day in the area of Puerto de los cristianos- dolphin and whale watching trips to la ,gomera island ,... SO that i can check time table and see whether advanced booking is necessary.

5. I ve heard of a medieval show in Castillo de San Miguel. Is it good? Is it really necessary to book beforehand?

6. we will be staying in tenerife for 7 nights. i thought we could spend 5 nights in playa de las americas and move north for the last 2 days - is it a good idea? what places of interest must i not miss in the northern areas of tenerife? is it better to rent a car for moving north?

7. we will be using the TFN airport. Which means of transport is better to use to get to our hotel in playa de las americas?

8. I havent booked hotel yet. i ve loooked at the Playa de las americas maps on eurosol.com and i ve chosen map 3. which hotel would you recommend so that we ll be close to all the activities, yet it would be a good hotel, bed and breakfast, with a lovely pool area, not so expensive. (we re 30 yrs. old and we will have a 1 yr old girl and an 8 yr old boy with us. )

If you can answer one / some / all of my questions, it would be appreciated. probably there's still more questions to come ... :p

Isla de Tenerife tips?
Posted: Fri July 18, 2008 07:47 AM UTC
Hi,

I'm going to tenerife and la palma in the beginnening of september. We will rent a rural house on both islands and rent a car. Can anyone give some 'must see's and do's. It can be everything 'a market, a walk, a nice place for a sunset...' As long as there isn't involved mass tourism. Because we want to escape that.

Can anyone recomend a region to stay? again we prefer a very quiet and green environment as far as possible from the very touristic places.

Has anyone ever taken the ferry from Tenerife to La Palma? Is there one daily?
and going to visit la gomera for one day without a car.. is that any good?

Lot's of questions! Hope someone feels like answering them.

many greetings, I stay looking forward to our trip..

Isla de Tenerife La Boca Retaurant - Playa De Las Americas
Posted: Fri May 16, 2008 01:15 AM UTC
Does anyone who has been to Playa in the last couple of months know if the La Boca English Restaurant is still there? It is situated just around the corner from Las Pirimedes Hotel & is a very busy restaurant.

Most importantly. if it is still there, do the 2 PR people still work there? One was a chap with long hair and the other was a young girl, probably around 23-25 years old.

Any feedback will be appreciated, thanks.

Isla de Tenerife Finding a place to ... RELAX ?
Posted: Tue March 4, 2008 10:54 AM UTC
We - a couple (50/60's) have planned to spend 2 weeks in Teneriffe starting the first week in april 2008.
Never been there, we looked at the area of "Las Americas" but after reading reviews in Travel-forum it sounds like a hang-out for younger people who enjoy loud discos and other all-night activity until breakfast time, making sleeping a nightmare to others.

We are far from even feeling like "seniors", but at the least like to enjoy a somewhat quiet time to get sleep. If there are places worth checking out that fill the need for clean accomodations, decent food and still offer a variety of things to do other than just (often overprized) tourist traps, please let us know as brochures can be most misleading with true info. This being our first time to that area, we are not sure if any of the other islands would be more suitable.

Just spent a night here in the Algarve in what looked like a phantastic place on the website, but was most disappointing.
How bad is the situation at the begin of april in regards to Mosquitos and / or other critters? Please steer us away from any place where "Attractions" means Disco bars or screaming kids around the pool.

This VT'er here would love and REALLY appreciate to hear about it.
Cheers, Norbert

Isla de Tenerife Ferry to La Gomera from Los Cristianos
Posted: Sat March 1, 2008 04:19 PM UTC
We want to book a ferry from Los Cristianos to La Gomera, using the Naviera Armas ferry. I have been on their website but do not seem to be able to book online from the UK. Is it necessary to book in advance (we have a one day window when we can go and don't want to miss out)? Any advice welcome. Thanks.

Isla de Tenerife Best island for a summer weekend?
Posted: Wed February 27, 2008 11:13 PM UTC
Am planning an early May vacay to Spain & we are heading for the Canaries for a weekend, but haven't decided which island to visit yet! We are vets, & heard Tenerife has lots of wildlife (zoo, park with avian/penguins or something??), but other islands are supposed to be pretty amazing too. Any advice? :D

Isla de Tenerife Camera shops, Puerto Santiago, Tenerife
Posted: Fri February 22, 2008 11:16 AM UTC
Can anyone give me the correct address for the camera shop trading under the name Foto Arena? We are in dispute with this shop over the purchase of a digital camera, which we bought while on holiday in Los Gigantes during December last year. A recent letter of complaint sent registered post has been returned to us as unrecognised address. We are quite certain this business is on the Avenida Maritima in Puerto Santiago, Tenerife, which was where we addressed it. Unfortunately we do not have an official receipt to refer to. It is more or less opposite the Neptune cafe and apartments on the main road through Puerto Santiago.

Isla de Tenerife Mount Teide in April
Posted: Sun February 10, 2008 10:41 PM UTC
Hi everyone, hope someone can put me right on a couple of things.

1st: I read on Wikipedia that to climb the last 200 metres of Mount Teide a free permit must be obtained from the park office in Santa Cruz? Is this so?
I was last in Tenerife in 1984 and climbed to the top without having to obtain a ticket.
I will be taking my children 16 and 12 with me on the last 200 mtr climb, can the tickets not be obtained at Teide or from an office in Playa Las Americas?

2nd: Will the snow on Teide in the 1st 2 weeks of April make the 1st question pointless?
Will there still be limited access via the cable car then?

thanks for any help eyedot uk

Isla de Tenerife Advice for single woman travelling to Canaries
Posted: Wed January 9, 2008 03:24 AM UTC
Hi everyone, I'd like a holiday in the Canaries and wonder if anyone can recommend a good resort and/or accommodation for a woman travelling alone. I want a peaceful and relaxing holiday but not to be isolated or the only single among loads of couples/families/singles groups. Am in my 40s. Just want to escape the dark days of N European winter for a week or so! Thanks for your ideas.

Isla de Tenerife Excursion to Morocco?
Posted: Tue October 23, 2007 07:15 PM UTC
Hi All - I am going to Tenerife in early March and was wondering since the islands are so close to Morocco, is there any kind of ferry or day trips that take you to Marrakesh and if so is it worth going to? I would love to visit if it is a possibility, even if I have to stay for one night. Any and all information is most welcome. Thanks

We're staying at the Play Paraiso Floral - weve been told its about a twenty minute taxi ride from the Americas but i still dont know anything about where the hotel is actually based! ANybody any ideas?

Isla de Tenerife What to do with 1 Day on Tenerife
Posted: Wed October 3, 2007 08:35 AM UTC
Thanks to some good feedback from my Lanzarote post, I decided to post a sequel and see if I could get some help planning our 1 day on Tenerife. This winter we're taking a cruise to the Canary Islands with some friends, and we're trying to figure out what to do on our short port days at the different islands. This is our first trip to the Canaries, and we know we won't be able to do any of the islands justice, but we can always go back!

So, if you had one day (8:00-17:00) to explore from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where would you go and what would you do?
