The Casa de las Navajas Posted: Wed July 1, 2009 11:56 PM UTC
I just couldn't believe my eyes when I just read that visits into the Casa de las Navajas were possible every day! I have been going to Torremolinos for the past 15 or 16 years, every year, and this building, which I choose to call ''my pink castle'' has been a fascination of mine ever since I first saw it! But, I have never been able to get concrete informations about it. Nobody ever told me I might have a chance to visit it. For years, I've been told that the town of Torremolinos was looking into buying it and planning to make a sort of museum out of it. But, nothing concrete never came of that! My most impossible dream is to win a big amount at a lottery and then, I would buy this place which so impresses me and then, I would have ''mon château en Espagne'': a French expression meaning ''one's having it's castle in Spain''....Something that is more or less an impossible dream. But isn't that what dreams are made of?
I would be very appreciative of everything more I could find about the Casa de las Navajas: it's story, pictures, what the plans are about it, etc, etc...
Thank you in advance,
Mariette Theriault

Staying in Torremolinos and visiting Morrocco and Gibraltar - best routes? Posted: Sat April 11, 2009 09:50 PM UTC
Hello! We will be staying in Torremolinos in May and plan to go to Morocco for four days and return the same way through Tangier. Is the best idea to take an early public bus to Algelcira or Tarife? Any reason to chose one over the other? If we leave Torremolinos at 7 am, when can we figure on arriving in Tangier, more or less?
When we return, is it easy to stop by in Gibraltar for a couple of hours? Are the bus lines easy to figure out? About how much time should we plan on?
Thank you!

prices for food in torremolinos Posted: Fri March 6, 2009 10:10 AM UTC
We are travelling to torremolinos on 19th March for 5 days. There are two adults and two children 6 & 2. We are looking at our budget and we think 60 euros a day would be o.k. what are the prices like, e.g food, drinks, that kind of thing.
Thanks Wayne

Apartmentos Bajondillo Posted: Thu November 27, 2008 10:00 PM UTC
I've read LoriPori's reviews of the Apartmentos Bajondillo, and it really doesn't matter that much. I WILL be staying there for three weeks in January. But I do have one question I haven't found the answer to yet. I have read that they change the towels daily and sheets twice a week. That's fine, but do they provide wash cloths?
I know that the use of wash cloths in the shower or the bath is predominantly a North American custom, and European hotels seldom provide them unless they are catering specifically to Americans. Since Grand Circle Travel and perhaps some other American touring companies make constant use of the Bajondillos, I thought maybe they have wash cloths. Anybody shed some light on this?

Torremolinos... any other ideas? Posted: Thu November 20, 2008 08:29 AM UTC
Hey my fellow VTS! How are you all doing? I was wondering if anyone can help me. I'm planning to go to Torremolinos for a few days and then was thinking of heading to Granda or Seveille or even Cordoba. I only have 9 days... Do you suggest a certain route or do you suggest I stay in Torremolinos and then maybe take a care to a city near by?
Oh and also regarding the accomodation - I've seen a lot on the forum and people's pages, however I was looking for something a little more cozy - not the usual hotels; maybe a small bed and breakfast or a little cottage... nothing too fancy!
THanks again you guys for everything!

Bicycling in Torremolinos Posted: Sun July 27, 2008 01:35 AM UTC
What I have seen about Torremolinos and the nearby Costa del Sol leads me to believe that bicycling near the beach would be something desireable. We will be there in January so I don't anticipate crowd interference. Can anyone give me some guidance on this? Is bicycle rental available in the vicinity of Bajondillo?

Travel Guides in Spain Posted: Thu July 10, 2008 08:30 PM UTC
My wife and I will be in Torremolinos this October with a group of friends from the US. We would like to hire a driver/guide to take us to places of interest in the immediate area (Seville, Jerez, Ronda, Granada, etc.). Two years ago we did this in Italy using a comany know as "Drivers in Rome" and found it worked out very well for us. You tell them where you want to go and they provide the driver/guide and the proper size van. If you know of such a company in this area of Spain I would appreciate a response with company name and how they can be contacted.

Tap water in Torremolinos Posted: Tue April 8, 2008 09:02 PM UTC
I'll be going to Torremolinos next winter. I haven't ever been to the Costa del Sol, and I haven't been in Spain at all for twenty years. I'm assuming that the municipal water systems in all cities have been upgraded to preclude an danger from consumption of water from the local tap. Does anyone have current knowledge of the system in Torremolinos?

Small B&B with balcony in Old Town Posted: Thu April 3, 2008 09:21 PM UTC
Hello: I am looking for a small B&B in the older section of town with a private balcony overlooking a somewhat busy street with shops, etc. I've seen some when walking back through town from the flea market. We have always stayed on the beach, but this will be Feb/March 2009, so don't need to be right on the beach. Thanks!

Taxi from Airport Posted: Mon May 21, 2007 11:13 AM UTC
Hi
I am heading off to Torremolinos tomorrow morning and was wondering what we should expect to pay for a taxi from the airport to the Hotel Griego Mar in Torremolinos?
I have heard that you should agree a price with the driver before getting in the taxi but would like to know what kind of price I should be agreeing on.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Shopping! Posted: Thu May 17, 2007 02:01 PM UTC
Hi everyone
I'm heading off to Torremolinos next Tuesday and I was wondering what the shopping is like there? I'm a massive fan of designer handbags such as Louis Vuitton, Dior and Fendi.
Does anyone know if you can get such designer replicas in Torremolinos and if so where and what price should I expect to pay?
Thanks in advance.

Language Schools Posted: Mon April 30, 2007 01:14 AM UTC
hi everyone!
I was just wondering if there are any language schools on torremolinos, Because a friend of mine is taking a TEFL(teaching English as a foreign language) course in Cadiz, and when she's qualified she wants to work teaching English (obviously) We found a great apartment in torremolinos but we cant seem to find any language schools on the web. Or if anyone knows of anyone wanted private tuition...?
Any help from anyone would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks very much

Is it worth going to this city? Many reviews say it is not a beautiful destination but a overdeveloped tourist trap. Can someone please give me an insight to this?
Thank you.
