Coco or Guillermo? Iberostar Daquiri or Blau Colonial??! :-) Posted: Tue July 8, 2008 07:48 PM UTC
Hello all,
I hope you can help!
In December my partner and I are hoping to go on holiday to Cuba. We've decided on the Cayo's because we love gorgeous beaches, swimming, the occasional snorkel and the all round relaxing look of the place.
Now, we are deciding which Cayo to visit, well really I guess it's going to boil down to which hotel.
A bit about us : On a limited budget, found bargains and the two above mentioned resorts. We have travelled a lot, but backpacking so this is a treat (air con in rooms *wow* !) What we want is somewhere we can do excursions from that will not be too pricey; a nice beach with waters for swimming and the odd snorkel; a relaxing atmosphere; some evening entertainment as in shows or music in the bar - just quiet and chilled; good restaurants in the hotels to eat a nice meal at and relax.
Accommodation wise, I think either will be luxury compared to what we are used to when travelling, but we love a nice private balcony to sit and enjoy sunset drinks on, a spacious room and some character.
Really stuck on which hotel will suit us best. We've read through countless tips and reviews on trip advisor and the like to no conclusion of where to go!
Help!!
Many Thanks in advance.
X

Oasis Playa Coco? Posted: Sat June 28, 2008 03:17 PM UTC
My mother and I will probably be holidaying in Cayo Coco late this october to early november. We have noticed that The Oasis Playa Coco is quite cheap for an all inclusive deal, however I have read very mixed reviews on this hotel including many which said that the staff were unfriendly. Has anyone here stayed in this hotel before and if so how did they find their stay? Are the staff unfriendly? I would really sppreciate any information on the hotel or the area in general.
Oh and How much money in euros would be an acceptable ammount for two weeks? We are on a relativly flexable budget but all the same.....

Cayo Coco - diving with sharks Posted: Wed April 16, 2008 11:20 PM UTC
I would like to ask about diving in Cayo Coco (and Cayo Guilermo) - is there a big chance to see sharks during diving (or sharks are seen only sometimes)?
Whats the weather in Cayo Coco in November (i have heard that there is a little bit windy and not good weather in that time) ?

A few questions:
1. where can you exchange money and any recommendations regarding how much you should exchange since we heard you cannot change it back to u.s. or canadian funds easily
2. how many pesos for the catamaran
3. do you find out at the Krystal about diffrent things to do or should things be booked before trip

Water sports in resort Posted: Tue November 20, 2007 11:04 AM UTC
Hi
Im going to the Sol Cayo Guillermo in Jan 08 and wondering what watersports there are available at the hotel. As far as I can see it is things like pedalos. Has anyone ever seen anybody doing any kitesurfing there? Not sure what the wind conditions are like or if they would even allow such a sport with the marine life?
Also, have heard that it is good to take out small gifts for the hotel staff. Any advice on what is in favour with them at the moment?
Any other tips or advice would also be appreciated!
Thanks

Our Honeymoon Posted: Wed September 26, 2007 08:47 PM UTC
We will be leaving next week for two weeks in Krystal Laguna, this will be our honeymoon after getting married at the weekend, this will be the first time i will have flown anywhere further than Ireland. We would be grateful if our growing list of questions could be answered.
1, Does anyone have a tips for us as to local customs ect, what we should or shouldnt do.
2, Does the Lagoon really smell bad as we have read somewhere.
3, Should we need to take our own towels.
4, How long is the transfer from the airport to the resort.
5, What is the legal limit to the amount of cigars/spirits we can bring home with us.
6, What are the Lagoon view rooms like, and has anyone been on honeymoon had an upgrade from these rooms.
7, We will be wanting to go swimming in the sea, what is the best thing to do with our towels ect

First timer to Cuba - Cayo Coco Posted: Thu September 13, 2007 11:47 AM UTC
Hi,
a few questions for the peeps on here who have had the Cuban experience. Staying at the NH Krystal in April 08.
1. Can you go to other hotels to see what nightlife they have to offer? I am not a party animal but likes to have a jive.
2. Are the spirits all local, do they serve stuff like Malibu on the AI?
3. Is the AI better than Egypt? (been here loads, AI not great but bearable!)
4. Is it worth visiting the reef? I gather not as good as the Red Sea?
5. Best place to book excurions and approx cost? Any suggestions for a good day out, anything a must see?
6. How much money approx for 2 weeks? Thinking of Ł800, is that enough?
7. Is the horse riding safe?
8. What cant i take into or out of Cuba?
Any specific tips would be appreciated.

Iberostar Daiquiri in December Posted: Wed September 5, 2007 01:15 PM UTC
Hi - my ten year old son and I are going to the Iberostar in December and I wondered what the weather will be like then? I have looked on websites and seen that the temperature is obviously cooler than in the Summer, but wondered what your experiences of Cuba in December have been?
Also interested in excursions from this hotel.
Thanks.

How is the weather like in early-mid September in Cayo Coco? Posted: Thu August 9, 2007 09:51 PM UTC
Hi,
Can any one please let me know how the weather is like in early to mid September? My fiancee and I where planning a trip to Cayo Coco for the first time and we did not want to go on a time when it rains a lot or cold. We love the beach and also good food. We are thinking of staying at NH Krystal Laguna Villas & Resort.
