Valencia Valencia for the night/day
Posted: Sun July 6, 2008 11:44 AM UTC
Hey everyone...

Last minute trip to valencia from Madrid. I'll be staying on the C/valle de Ayora little outside the center. I was wondering if it's a safe area. Also, if it's safe and OK to take kids to the beach. Is it far from Valencia center? Any good beaches? We will only be traveliing on foot and by taxi.

Most important: any good activities to do and see within a day's time? THANKS!

Valencia Should I stay in Torrent?
Posted: Thu July 3, 2008 05:24 PM UTC
Hi,

I'm staying in Valencia for 4 nights before I travel up to Benicassim music festival at the end of July, and am looking for a cheap hotel with a swimming pool for my friend and I to relax at before the festival begins. I've found two so far, Hotel Vora Fira and Hotel Lido in Torrent. The Lido looks like the better option to me, but just wondered what Torrent was like as an area? We aren't too fussed about going out to bars every night, but I just wanted to know what the surroundings are like, and whether it would be a reasonable place to stay for a few nights. I've read that it's about 20 minutes by bus into Valencia city centre, which sounds good. I don't want to arrive and find that the hotel is right in the middle of an industrial centre or something, so any help would be great. If Torrent is not a good bet, what is hotel Vora Fira like?

Cheers.

Tom.

Valencia Euro 2008 Final in Valencia
Posted: Fri June 27, 2008 06:03 PM UTC
Hi,

Luckily I'm going to be in Valenicia this Sunday, does anyone know if the Euro 2008 final is going to be shown on some sort of big screen open to the public in the city.

I'm sure the atmosphere and event will be great experienced in a bar, but a big public gathering could be even better.

Thanks

Valencia Albufera Boat Trip with a wheelchair ?
Posted: Thu June 26, 2008 01:39 PM UTC
Hello,
me and my buddy are planning to stay 7 Days in Valencia next week,
I am sitting in a wheelchair and Valencia was deeply recommended for being wheelchair friendly and until now i dont expect any problems in getting anywhere in the city, but i've got no plan how to get conviniently to albufera.
Can i simply get a taxi who drives me out there ? I think yess , but what about the return ?

Anyway we would prefer a boat trip but how big would this boats be ? Enough space for a manual wheelchair?

Is there a possibility to rent a small boat just for 2 or 3 persons for an affordable price ?

Where could i rent one ?

thank you very much in advance for your answers

Valencia Which part of the city?
Posted: Sat June 21, 2008 03:40 PM UTC
Hi there,
I'm coming to Valencia for two weeks in July, I've found a few nice apartments and I'm about to book one. But before making the choice I'd like to ask you for some advice -- which parts of the city would you recommed? I'm thinking of a place which would be relatively close to restaurants, cafes and the center of the city. I wouldn't like to end up in a residential area in the suburbs where lights go off after 10pm and the streets are totally empty.
But it also has to be safe and not too noisy.
Also, is it difficult to find a parking space in the street? Or should I look for an apt with a garage?

Here are some locations I'm considering:
-Av. Cesar Giorgeta
-Calle de Recaredo
-Calle Gen. Urrutia
-Canovas, near Jardin del Turia.

Thanks.

Valencia Valencia - hotel with pool for kids?
Posted: Sun May 18, 2008 07:29 AM UTC
Hi there,

Wondering if any locals can give me a recommendation for a place to stay in or near Valencia. We will be in Valencia 3-4 days, need a hotel with pool (for our 2 children aged 4 and 1) and parking. Doesn't need to be central, any ideas? Read that Las Arenas is in a pretty awful area. Beachfront not necessary. Don't mind paying top rate if it's worth it!

Thanks very much!

Valencia Getting from Granada to Valencia
Posted: Mon May 5, 2008 06:14 PM UTC
I have been trying to find the most direct way of getting from Granada to Valencia. It looks to be 6 hours by car (accoring to mappy.com), so I would presume there are direct buses. Is there a bus company website where this can be checked or do I just arrange for it once I am in Granada? Renfe only shows an overnight leaving at around 21:00 and arriving in Valencia at 5 AM. Flights all seem to go back to Madrid from Granada for a connecting flight back to Valencia which would entail as much time as simply takng the bus. Any suggestions are truly appreciated. Regards, Karl

Hi!

Me and a friend are planning to go to Valencia on the 27th of June to the 4th of July (7 nights). We're looking for somewhere quite cheap to stay, maybe a twin room at a hostel (no dorms), a cheap hotel or a small studio.

The Feet up Hostel is getting good reviews but I'm a little concered that it might be noisy.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Valencia Car Hire
Posted: Sun March 30, 2008 10:20 AM UTC
Can anyone recommend a car hire company that I can hire a car from the aiport for 1 week? I have noticed that many companies charge an extra 40euros for petrol which I do not think is reasonable.

I am in two minds of whether to get alternative transport to Valnecia city centre as I am staying there for 2 nights and then going to stay in Oliva for 5 nights.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Valencia Valencia in August
Posted: Thu March 20, 2008 01:55 PM UTC
Hi there,

Me and 3 friends are staying in Valencia for a week in August. We've hired an apartment in Calle de Emilio Baro. First off, anyone know what the area is like and if it is easy to get to the centre and nightlife and beaches from there?

Then I've got a few more questions for you guys (hope you can help, been googling for ages but not very useful tbh):

- What are the prices like at restaurants? I like eating out as much as I can, but being a student my cashflow doesn't always allow it! And are the drinks in clubs etc expensive?
- We are there from 7-14 August, is there any chance at all Valencia FC might be playing pre-season games by then or maybe even be able to attend a training session?
- Is there a strip club (not been able to find anything about that anywhere on t'internet!)?
- What are the prices of alcoholic drinks (I know cigarettes are cheap), is it cheap or will it be a good idea to buy a few bottles from the airport tax-free? example: litre bottle of Jagermesiter in Holland costs about 20 euro's I think...I've heard Spain is quite cheap for stuff like alcohol but would want to know for sure!

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Valencia Looking for a tent in Valencia las fallas
Posted: Wed March 12, 2008 02:47 PM UTC
Hi guys, I am a student from Ireland on an exchange in Finland and hope to get on a plane again to get a bit of heat, sun and good photos!

The thing is, I have a tent back home that I didn't pack (this trip was a last minute decision) and I don't want to buy another one - I'm very poor!!! Does anyone know if campsites can rent out some tents or is there anywhere where these can be rented or borrowed? Any advice is brilliant!

If there isn't anywhere to do this, then this would be a great summer business - tents weigh so much on planes, so renting should be useful, you have my permission to make money from this idea!

Valencia Whim Visit - Now need Fantastic Advice
Posted: Tue March 11, 2008 07:54 AM UTC
Hi All:

So I originally posted in the Spain forum trying to find a place to visit - got many responses, but something attracted me to Valencia. I'm getting married in the month of August (1st week) and wanted to set up a Honeymoon in Valencia (Dates are set: August 22nd - 29th for the trip). I've seen recent postings about Flats for rent for weekly visits. Here are a couple of questions I'm hoping you guys can answer for me:

1.) We're really wanting to attend La Tomatina that goes on - any avoidances we should consider?

2.) Anyone suggesting any great places to stay that they've been before (before I start roaming around all the holiday pages?)

3.) We're not much night lifers - we'd love to see the scenery and trails - any great places besides the one mentioned above between those dates?

We're also hoping to make it in time for the Formula F1 racing. Any general information or specific information anyone can give would be greatly appreciated (food, romantic places)! (All extra information is greatly welcome too!) :)

Thanks in advance all!

Valencia Valencia holiday rentals
Posted: Fri March 7, 2008 01:22 PM UTC
Can anyone help me find some websites that show properties to rent for 1 week in Valencia please? I want to stay either up in the mountains, within 30 minutes away from the centre of Valencia or stay by the seaside.

Can anyone recommend a place to stay in April? Ans is the weather hot enough to wear a bikini and sunbathe?

I will be hiring a car so am flexible to drive anywhere.

Thanks in advance :-)

Valencia Student going on exchange looking for advice
Posted: Sat January 26, 2008 03:58 PM UTC
Hi, I am planning on being an exchange student this summer ( July & August) and studying in Valencia. I was looking for some advice on what to do there and what to see, what airlines and trains are the best. Would it be beneficial to get the Valencia card and the card for some of the other major cities I want to visit? I was wondering for my weekends I want to travel and wondering if anyone can give me advice on which would be cheap transportation, things to see and do and where to go. I would also like to maybe even see the neighboring countries if I can find cheap transportation to them. Also wondering what prices are like over there and what kind of food is served compared to the Canada & the USA. If anyone can give me some advice or tips for me that would be great. Also wondering what the weather is like in July & August?
