Tours in Tamarindo? Posted: Thu April 17, 2008 03:41 PM UTC
I'm planning on checking out Tamarindo in the next couple of months, and want to take some tours while I'm there. Does anyone know anything about the tour companies in the town? Any recommendations? Anyone heard of CR Paradise? I want to check out nature and have a good time. Let me know if you have any suggestions or can comment on who has the best tours. Thanks.

6 week trip to Guanacaste Posted: Sat April 12, 2008 12:39 AM UTC
I am a male college student and I will be in Guanacaste for 6 and a half weeks this summer with plenty of free time to spend on the beach. This will be my second trip to this area, my last trip I was unable to spend much time on the beach. I was wondering about swimwear for guys. Do any of you know what swimwear the locals wear as well as what swimwear is acceptable to tourists>? Im planning and preparing the things I am bringing with me so quick responses are appreciated.
Thanks

Affordable Accommodation? Posted: Sun March 30, 2008 09:22 PM UTC
We're going to spend a couple of days in the Arenal/Fortuna area and need an affordable place to stay. I would prefer a small hotel/B&B. Hostel would do as long as there are individual rooms as opposed to dorm style. Our max budget is $40-50 per night for two people.
Since we're not renting a car I would prefer somewhere closer to the site.

La Fortuna Taxi Fares Posted: Thu January 24, 2008 08:27 PM UTC
This weekend begins my stay at the Arenal Lodge. I know it is a bit of a ways from La Fortuna. My question is this, does anyone have any recent experience with the cost of a taxi from the Arenal Lodge to La Fortuna? Also, does anyone know what the taxi fare is from La Fortuna Airport to La Fortuna itself? Thanks to all.

Transportation in Costa Rica Posted: Fri January 18, 2008 02:53 PM UTC
Hello,
We are planning a 7 days vacation to Costa Rica in March 2008. We would like to stay 1 day in San Jose to see the city and then move towards Fortuna, Arenal and Monteverde. We are trying to decide what transportation we should consider: renting a car (we do not speak Spanish and heard both, good and bad things about driving in Costa Rica) or taking a shuttle bus from San Jose to Arenal (I know Interbus and Fantasy Bus have daily shuttle buses).
Any other tips that would enhance our vacation experience in Costa Rica are greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your help!

Arenal Observatory Lodge Posted: Sun January 13, 2008 08:56 AM UTC
Hi
My husband and I are going to be travelling to CR end of Jan08. For the Areanal area we choose the 'Arenal Observatory Lodge' as our base! Can anyone, who has recently stayed there, let me know what they thought of it. Also, is it very out of the way and far from the surrounding 'towns' and things to do? We were thinking of staying at the Tobacon, but I thought that's a bit too 'Manicured' to choose as a place to stay in CR.
I will welcome any comments.
Thanks,
J

I am arriving in Costa Rica on Saturday to the Liberia International Airport. I am staying in Tamarindo. Has anyone taken the public bus? Is it easy to get where you need to go or should I rent a car?
I am staying at the Tamarindo Diria and I can't figure out how close a bus stop is.

Car Required in Nosara? Posted: Mon December 10, 2007 03:06 PM UTC
We are spending two weeks in Costa Rica over Christmas/New Years. We are flying in/out of Liberia. The first week of our vacation we are spending traveling around, including to the Arenal area. We have reserved a 4WD vehicle for that part of the trip, and are wondering if we should keep it to go to Nosara (where we are spending week 2), or just hire a car to get us there and back to Liberia. If we are spending the week in Nosara, do we need a car to get around? Are there any areas of interest close by that require us to drive?

Casa Palombia/Playa Flamingo Posted: Tue November 13, 2007 09:13 PM UTC
Looking for feedback on Casa Palombia in Playa Flamingo, as well as info on Playa Flamingo in general.
Casa Palombia online pictures look great, but I've read that the house isn't maintained very well. If anyone has insight on the house or area (pros/cons), I'd be grateful!
I understand that Playa Flamingo is a smaller town, although there is now much construction. Is it still a nice place to vacation?

Unsafe swimming conditions? Posted: Fri November 2, 2007 08:34 PM UTC
I am travelling to Tamarindo on Monday! EEK!!!
I just read online that it is unsafe to swim due to high levels of sewage being dumped in the water.
Can anyone confirm this?
Also, if anyone has any suggestions as to other good beach party spots in and around Liberia, I would be forever grateful.

I am unexpectedly going to Tamarindo for a quick trip in December and haven't been there in quite some time. Anyone have a good tip for a nice, clean, reasonably priced hotel? Plus, do you have any pics, as well? That would help. Thanks for any info. I love how helpful everyone seems to be on VT!!!!

Hotel Accomodations for Christmas/New Years 2007 Posted: Mon September 24, 2007 04:48 PM UTC
My 17 year old son and I are planning a 14 day stay in the Tamarindo area for the upcoming holiday season. We have been to Costa Rica the past 2 years at the same time and basically already traveled to most of the tourist hot spots and now are hoping to enjoy the "atmosphere" we have heard so much about in Tamarindo.
In the past 2 years I have never paid more than 80 per night to stay in a hotel. I know there are luxuroy accomodations available out there but that is not in my budget. Can anyone help me to find a rental for 2 weeks at less than 100 per day? Our needs are simple-- -- a clean, air conditioned room with comfortable beds. We much prefer going and eating in town rather than at the hotel, so fine hotel dining is not a concern. We have always used public transportation and know how to get around as needed. I only get to take one vacation a year and have come to love Costa Rica. My son being a 17 year old teenager would like the option of doing more than just hanging out at the beach with dad so Tamarindo seems like a good possible option.
Your thoughts and ideas are all welcome. and of course your suggestions as to accommodations and places to eat. thanks
Robert

Distance from Playa Flamingo to Playa Conchal Posted: Fri August 24, 2007 02:25 AM UTC
Hi - we are planning to spend part of our trip at Flamingo Beach Resort and then the balance at a Condo in Playa Conchal on the Paridisus resort complex. We are not planning to rent a car and are wondering how far apart the two places are. Will it be easy to get a taxi - do hotels provide transfers - how much would it cost....
Thanks!

Getting to Arenal via Nature Air Posted: Tue July 10, 2007 09:42 PM UTC
I have posted a similar question in the San Jose forum but am not sure if that is the best place. In short, we are flying into the main airport (Santamaria/SJO) in San Jose, but Nature Air flies out of Tobias Bolanos Airport. Has anyone in this forum used Nature Air, and could anyone give my a good estimate of the amount of time it takes to get from Santamaria/SJO Airport to Tobias Bolanos Airport? Thanks to all!!
