LARGE SHELLS Posted: Sun October 18, 2009 02:53 PM UTC
This is my first time on this sight but will be traveling to Belize on a cruise, what I wanted to know, is there any place on Belize to buy very large shells, are there special sights to see within walking distance, is it ok to drink their water?
My husband and I are traveling to Caye Caulker at the end of September and just wondering where is the best cheapest place to stay. I have looked at staying at The Tropical Paradise or Trends. Also what about Ediths Guesthouse? Has anybody stayed here before? Any who, just wondering if someone might have any input and point us in the right direction. Thanks for all the info -t-
We are trying to decide if we want to bring our laptop to Caye Caulker or use an internet cafe to access email everyday. We have an internet business so access is needed. Anyone know the cost of internet use in Cafe on Caye Caulker?
I will be in Caye Caulker in two weeks and plan on taking the 3 day Ragamuffin Tour to Placencia. I am reading mixed reviews. Anyone have current information on this?
Thanks
daughter planned on going to belize city to do humanitarian internship, possibly with the garifuna people. red flags abound at this point about her safety as we read lots of reports about how dangerous this destination is. please give us input. she would not be with a group, just herself. are these crime reports ovrblown, or should we be genuinely concerned?
are there other areas of the country belize which would be a safer choice?
thanks so much for any input/experiences in this city.

This is our first time in Belize and I we are traveling to Ambergris Cay/Staying at Legacy Beach Resort. Can you tell me if any good seafood places on the Island? Is it hard to get to a grocery store from Legacy? I will have my husband, 2 children (ages 16 and 14). Anything we shouldn't miss? How often will we see Iguana's??? Thank's for any responses....
Hi! Could anyone recommend a reliable tour operator based in Caye Caulker or Belize City that organizes 2 or 3 days excursions to Tikal, Guatemala? Thanks!
Hi. Considering a trip to Ambergris Caye next Spring. Looking for a nice bungalow for two on the beach where the water is accessible - no sea grass. Luxury is not essential. Have looked at Hotel del Rio, Paradise Hotel, as well as Coral Bay Villas and Captain Morgan's. All suggestions welcome!
we are three mexican tourists looking for boat transportation from rio dulce, guatemala, to belize city, one way, around july 22nd, and i want to know who could provide this service.
My wife and I wish to visit Tikal, Guatemala in July. We plan to take an air-conditioned bus early morning from Belize City to El Remate, Guatemala, then on to Tikal the same day. Is there a bus that goes directly to Tikal? Or do we have to change bus at San Ignacio, Belize?
We booked water taxis through the Caye Caulker Water Taxi website. The page says arrangements can be made for pickup at the International Airport, but no details of how to reserve. Do we just look for a water taxi sign at the airport?
thanks,

Hello! No one mentioned if they served a lobster dinner. I'm sure they do... Has anyone had it? If so how was it??? I'm a die-hard lobster fan...drooling at the thought..haha...thanks! Beth
I'll be in San Pedro for two weeks at christmas this year. What's the going rate for a gas powered cart now? any deals for two weeks? I've rented from Ultimate cart rental before-Are they still in bussiness?I'll need to rent the usual assortment of toys as well.Anyone know who could deliver some kayaks to us?-We'll be staying in Reef Village-Thanks-C
Hello everyone - First of all let me say thank you to all of you who have built your Caye Caulker pages. I have enjoyed using them to assist me in planning my trip.
Trents or Trenton's, the place I wanted to stay at is booked solid during the time I am looking at going. I am also looking at a place called Popeyes which is located just down from the water taxi doc. Has anyone stayed there? Any comments? In addition does anyone know how far of a walk it is to the Split? Are bike rentals available and if they are do they work well on the sand beaches? I know we can rent a golf cart but will probably choose not to in order to save $ since our hotel may end up costing us more than we planned.
In addition if there is any VT members that will be in Caye Caulker Dec 26th 07 - Jan 1st 08 my boyfriend and I would love to hook up for a drink to say hello!
We are hoping to rent a care and trave into Guatemala for a few days. Does anyone know if you can take a car rented in Belize over to Guatemala? I also heard car rentals where really exensive in Belize, does anyone know of a good company to use or have any suggestions?
Wondering about details of the water taxi boats: How many water taxi companies are there? Size of engines, etc. Are there many repair shops there? Seriously considering moving there and need to know if work will be available...propeller repairs.
Hi, I am looking for a not-so-incredibly-expensive beach destination for a family of five, including a 16-year-old and two 11-year-olds. Caye Caulker in Belize sounds beautiful and inexpensive, but I can't seem to find any information on swimming. Everything is about snorkeling or diving. Are the beaches swim-friendly? My kids will want to be out in the water. Thanks.
I'm visiting for a week in june with hopes of retiring there on $2,000 a month. Can I make it down there and does anybody know of long term rentals fairly cheap? thanks, gary
Birdin g Posted: Tue February 13, 2007 05:12 PM UTC
We plan to vacation on Ambergris Caye, early in 2008. We are interested in finding information on a one-day BIRDING guide leaving from Ambergris Caye to other birding hot-spots in Belize....and/or a 2-3 day tour which is for BIRDING specifically, again leaving from Ambergris Caye to other birding spots. Thanks for any information. Joyce Heintz
I'm planning to cross Belize riding on public transportation; I'll enter from Chetumal and then head to Punta Gorda so I can take a water taxi to Guatemala.
Do you think I can make this crossing in one day or do I have to spend the night in Belize city?
Is it better to enter Guatemala from punta Gorda or throu Melchor de Mencos(Tikal, flores)?
I've been checking the weather in Belize City and it looks like it will be raining throughout most of next week (some kind of slow-moving cold front). Anyone in Caye Caulker right now? Has it been pouring all day? Will I still be able to snorkel?
(someone posted a similar message earlier but since the weather is unpredictable, I just had to ask again).
Scuba shops Posted: Mon January 22, 2007 11:28 PM UTC
Hi! Myself and my girlfriend are heading to Caulker at the end of january. Can any scuba divers out there recommend some fun, safe dive shops to dive with for advanced scuba divers? Also any good accomodations? I have seen the gocayecaulker website but would love some personal recommendations! Thanks
