Belize District Cheap place to stay
Posted: Mon September 14, 2009 02:52 AM UTC
My husband and I are traveling to Caye Caulker at the end of September and just wondering where is the best cheapest place to stay. I have looked at staying at The Tropical Paradise or Trends. Also what about Ediths Guesthouse? Has anybody stayed here before? Any who, just wondering if someone might have any input and point us in the right direction. Thanks for all the info -t-

Belize City safe for 21 year old woman to do internship in belize city???
Posted: Mon March 23, 2009 03:44 PM UTC
daughter planned on going to belize city to do humanitarian internship, possibly with the garifuna people. red flags abound at this point about her safety as we read lots of reports about how dangerous this destination is. please give us input. she would not be with a group, just herself. are these crime reports ovrblown, or should we be genuinely concerned?
are there other areas of the country belize which would be a safer choice?
thanks so much for any input/experiences in this city.

Ambergris Cay Cabana on the beach
Posted: Thu August 7, 2008 09:16 PM UTC
Hi. Considering a trip to Ambergris Caye next Spring. Looking for a nice bungalow for two on the beach where the water is accessible - no sea grass. Luxury is not essential. Have looked at Hotel del Rio, Paradise Hotel, as well as Coral Bay Villas and Captain Morgan's. All suggestions welcome!

Belize City Belize City To Tikal in Guatemala
Posted: Sun May 18, 2008 02:46 AM UTC
My wife and I wish to visit Tikal, Guatemala in July. We plan to take an air-conditioned bus early morning from Belize City to El Remate, Guatemala, then on to Tikal the same day. Is there a bus that goes directly to Tikal? Or do we have to change bus at San Ignacio, Belize?

How long would it take before we get to Tikal?

Thanks.

Caye Caulker water taxi pickup at the airport?
Posted: Sat March 15, 2008 02:43 PM UTC
We booked water taxis through the Caye Caulker Water Taxi website. The page says arrangements can be made for pickup at the International Airport, but no details of how to reserve. Do we just look for a water taxi sign at the airport?
thanks,

Belize City Place to stay in Caye Caulker
Posted: Wed October 10, 2007 06:21 PM UTC
Hello everyone - First of all let me say thank you to all of you who have built your Caye Caulker pages. I have enjoyed using them to assist me in planning my trip.

Trents or Trenton's, the place I wanted to stay at is booked solid during the time I am looking at going. I am also looking at a place called Popeyes which is located just down from the water taxi doc. Has anyone stayed there? Any comments? In addition does anyone know how far of a walk it is to the Split? Are bike rentals available and if they are do they work well on the sand beaches? I know we can rent a golf cart but will probably choose not to in order to save $ since our hotel may end up costing us more than we planned.

In addition if there is any VT members that will be in Caye Caulker Dec 26th 07 - Jan 1st 08 my boyfriend and I would love to hook up for a drink to say hello!

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Caye Caulker Swimming / beaches
Posted: Thu July 12, 2007 08:54 PM UTC
Hi, I am looking for a not-so-incredibly-expensive beach destination for a family of five, including a 16-year-old and two 11-year-olds. Caye Caulker in Belize sounds beautiful and inexpensive, but I can't seem to find any information on swimming. Everything is about snorkeling or diving. Are the beaches swim-friendly? My kids will want to be out in the water. Thanks.

Belize City How's the public transportation in Belize?
Posted: Fri February 9, 2007 05:29 PM UTC
I'm planning to cross Belize riding on public transportation; I'll enter from Chetumal and then head to Punta Gorda so I can take a water taxi to Guatemala.

Do you think I can make this crossing in one day or do I have to spend the night in Belize city?

Is it better to enter Guatemala from punta Gorda or throu Melchor de Mencos(Tikal, flores)?

Thank you so much, Tomas.

Caye Caulker Weather in Caye Caulker today/this week?
Posted: Wed February 7, 2007 01:27 AM UTC
Hi,

I've been checking the weather in Belize City and it looks like it will be raining throughout most of next week (some kind of slow-moving cold front). Anyone in Caye Caulker right now? Has it been pouring all day? Will I still be able to snorkel?

(someone posted a similar message earlier but since the weather is unpredictable, I just had to ask again).

Keeping my fingers crossed,
Chryselle
