Would someone be able to tell me if there would be a problem entering the UK on a one way ticket, with a valid Canadian passport accompanied with an expired British passport. The reason for travel is to visit a terminally ill relative, so at the moment a return date hasn't been determined.
Unfortunately our hotel, The Caledonian, seems not to have car parking spaces. Can any member advise how far away or where free public car parking is available or alternately any othe parking in close proximty to the hotel location, thank you..
Hi!
We will be ariving to Prestwick airport very late at night (23.15) and need to get to Glasgow. Airport coaches goes untill 23.59, but considering that we must wait for our luggage there is a risk that we will miss this buss. Does anyone have an idea how we can solve this problem by the easieast and cheapest way? Or maybe there is a cheap hotel next to the airport (we are going further to Fort William next morning so we actually don´t really need to get to Glasgow itself).
Thanks in advance for all advices!

The show will take place at the "SECC Glasgow". Could someone recommend some B&Bs which are within walking distance from this place. I don't have to worry much about transport after the show.
Can someone please help me... I need to get from Glasgow Airport to Inverness, i really dont want to catch a flight i would rather do it another way. I have a book on Scotland but it is not to helpful with this sort of thing. I arrive into Glasgow around Midday, if that makes any difference to what i can do.
Hi I am flying to Glasgow in May for a weekend with 10 lads. Can anyone suggest anywhere outside Glasgow to stay, town or countryside. Doesnt have to be too lively, but with something to do or visit and a few welcoming bars that wouldnt mind a group. We are using Glasgow International so anywhere within a reasonable distance. Many thanks.
I am planning to stay one night in a hotel at the airport. can someone recommend a good one even though it's just for 1 night. Do most airport hotels offer shuttle bus to the airport for freer?

Car hire Posted: Fri February 13, 2009 05:42 AM UTC
Woulod any one be able to help my sister out with the following question She is trying to organise a 6 week trip over and its a bit tricky doing it from Australia .And she know I rave about how helpful VT's are so her question is
- has anyone hired a car in Glasgow - toured Scotland, taken the car across on the ferry to Belfast - toured Northern Ireland then returned to Scotland,
If so what hire car company did they use and was the car covered by insurance whilst on the ferry to and from Northern Ireland.
This is what we want to do but trying to find a hire car company who will let us take the car on the ferry is very difficult.
We would appreciate any advice thankyou
Im organising a stag weekend in Glasgow in May for 10-12 lads aged 27 to 60 approx. Can anyone suggest good spots for a bit of crack and a good drink or anywhere else we should go or for that matter, avoid.
Our hotel is in the city centre.
It will be a lively group but no idiots. All hints or suggestions welcome.
This is probably a dumb question, but I'm wondering what the weather in Glasgow is normally like around X-mas and New Years... I know it's cold, but because it's cold, is there much snow? I know it rains a lot, but is the rain like Seattle or Southern California (when we get rain)? Seattle rain is more of a constant mist that is just in the air with a few down pours. So Cal rain is more like it comes down hard for about 10 minutes, and then dissipates.
I'm not worried about the weather. Just curious so I can pack the right gear to protect my camera.
I'm traveling up from London to spend a weekend in Loch Lomond for my boyfriend's birthday. We're staying at the Culag Guesthouse (near Luss) which I've read rave reviews about. Arriving on Friday lunchtime and departing on Sunday evening.
I really want to plan a relaxing and romantic weekend and was hoping for some tips on nice restaurants and cosy pubs which we should visit. I heard certain things may be closed at this time of year - is that true?
We don't have a car and will be doing everything on foot. Happy to walk reasonable distances, weather permitting, but would also be great to know what there is close by.
Hi, Going to Glasgow(Hotel Central) on the 25th Oct for 3nts with my wife and 2 kids (11,8).
I would love to hear the best places to get some good food.Kid's are good eaters and enjoy a varied diet, though my daughter (11)has quite a list of allergies.
Looked at loads on the net and would love to hear from someone with local knowledge...good pub grub, restaurants e.t.c.
Thankyou.

Driving from Windermere to Fort William, we plan to have a stop at Glasgow to take the lunch and have a quick visit to some interesting points. Anyone here could give tips and advice of where can I find the car park for my car and sugguestion for the visit.
I know this is really a tip rather than question but wasn't sure where to post it - There's a great event on in Glasgow in the week between 15 and 21 September, where there are loads of free events on and access to many of Glasgows most interesting buildings. More information at www.glasgowdoorsopenday.com/default.aspx.
If I were to pose a question it would be - where should I have posted this?!
Next week I’m attending a training course at the Stow College Campus on Hotspur Street, Maryhill.
Any advice on anything would be useful (things to do, things not to do, places to eat etc) and any info on hotels near the venue would be particularly welcome.
is it possible for a 1-2 days tour in the famous highland? either guided service or by rail. it's our first trip to scotland, we are not self-driving or hiking, the only convenient transport we have is Britrail Pass. can you tell me which is the quickest way from one of the hub cities to the wildness and uniqueness? if the way is guided service, we hope it's not costing too much.. any suggestion and advice is appreciated. thanks.
How would I get from Glasgow to Arran? Also, do you know what the cost of entry is into the botanic gardens? Any other recommendations for nature/scenery lovers visiting Glasgow for three days? We will be going over to Edinburgh for five days after. Thanks again for all of your help.
Hi everyone, We are getting ready for our 2nd trip to Scotland...my favorite place to travel to (never been to Glasgow, though)! We will be flying into Prestwick and staying at the Jury's Inn. We will be getting in at 21:00 and we would like to know what is the best way to get to the hotel. Should we be concerned about traveling at dark? Also, we will be there for three days...any recommendations on what to see? We are forty and like the outdoors, not really into the nightlife scene. Lastly, any good/inexpensive recommendations for places to eat? The hotel charges $20.00 per person for breakfast and that is not going to happen. Any grocery stores around there?
Thanks in advance.
