How long will it take by car to drive up the East Coast? Is it an easy or hard drive and what type of car do you recommend?

Barbados Where to Stay at Holidays
Posted: Thu March 6, 2008 11:29 AM UTC
We are thinking of travelling to Barbados for Christmas 2008, but see that the rates of most places double. We are looking for nice accommodations that are no more than $350 per night during that time of year. Any suggestions appreciated.

Barbados Shall I visit Barbados this summer?
Posted: Mon February 18, 2008 01:26 PM UTC
Hello,

I have always wanted to visit the carribean and never been! Barbados has stood out as being beautiful, relaxing and well worth going to.

I have thought about visiting there this summer 08, from the UK for 2 weeks. I have found some reasonable flights and looking into getting a villa, apartment to stay in separately!

Just a few questions:

Whats the weather going to be like? Is it too risky going in August?

Is it very expensive?

Are there lots of things to do?

Also, if anyone knows of any villas/apartments for rent it would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Barbados best guess, how far is it?.........................
Posted: Mon October 29, 2007 11:30 PM UTC
ok, your best guess, "How far of a walk is it from the Allamanda Beach Hotel south of Bridgeport to the cruise ship port building in Bridgeport?" Walking for me is not a problem. I have 2 feet that work along with the rest of the body being that I just lost 20 pounds. Anyone? Anyone?

Having google mapped it, it looks really close to me.

Barbados taxi hire for the day
Posted: Thu October 25, 2007 01:41 PM UTC
Hope someone can help me out here. Cruising the Caribbean in Jan and have a frim idea of which places of interest I want to visit in Barbados. However none of the organised trips either arranged by the cruise line or agencies in Barbados meet my needs. So the query is would I be able to hire a taxi once off the liner, specify where I want to go, agree a price and expect the driver to either wait for me at each destination or pick up at a specified time (paying at the end of the day,of course !!) ??? More to the point, how much would this cost approximately, assuming 6 hours or thereabouts? All advice gratefully received. Thanks, in anticipation. Paul

Barbados Weather Conditions
Posted: Mon October 15, 2007 10:04 AM UTC
Hi
I'm booked to visit Barbados on 21st November for 2 weeks. I have been keeping an eye on the weather reports lately and they look dreadful, thunderstorms and rain etc. This seems to have been the over-riding pattern now for a few weeks? How bad exactly is the weather at the moment and is there any news/forecast of it improving in the near future? I'm thinking of rescheduling to next year.

Thanks for any help/advice. Sorry to ask about the weather, I know nothing can be guaranteed! I just wanted the general opinion of anyone who is a local.

Barbados Restaurants and Car Rental
Posted: Sun October 14, 2007 05:25 PM UTC
My husband and I will be heading down to Barbados in November for our anniversary. We are staying at the Hilton and were looking for both restaurant recommendations (heard Brown Sugar nearby is good) and whether we will need to rent a car to try out good places to eat in Hole Town, etc.

Barbados BBD or USD??
Posted: Sun October 14, 2007 01:25 PM UTC
We are going to Barbados (The Gap)in November and wanted to know whether to take US Dollars or Barbados Dollars. Which is best for the local bars and restaurants? When we went to Mexico we took US Dollars but then realised that peso would have been better, you'd give the shop keeper USD's but then you'd be given your change in peso, it all gets very confusing.

Barbados Money Exchange In Barbados
Posted: Tue September 11, 2007 09:34 AM UTC
I know these questions have probably been asked and answered a thousand times, and I should know anyway as I've already been to Barbados twice, but as the GB Pound to US Dollar exchange rate is so high I wanted to know a few things.

What is the Exchange rate at banks for converting GB Pound Travellers Cheques to Barbados Dollars?

What is the Exchange rate at banks for converting US Dollar Travellers Cheques to Barbados Dollars?

Do Restaurants, Bars, Shops etc. accept US Dollar travellers cheques as cash?

Do Restaurants, Bars, Shops etc. still price at 2 Barbados Dollars to 1 US?

As I say, sorry if these questions have been asked before but an accurate answer could save us a lot of money.

Thanks

Hi,
me and my friend are travelling to Barbados in Sept. I would like to ask you how is it with rainy season in this area. When is it and how heavy is it?
Also Barbados seems to be quite expensive place for me. I could find some prices for accomodationa and airtickets but could you give me any info about prices in restaurants and for some services such as renting a surfboard or snorkling equipment?
Thanks for any help

Barbados watersports on the westcoast
Posted: Thu July 19, 2007 10:00 PM UTC
Hi there, we're a funloving family in need of some help. Last time we've been travelling to Barbados was about 3 yrs ago and we were staying near the lonestar/glitter bay area. We had undisputably one of the best beach holidays ever!
Does anyone know a watersports' guy who called himself tony "the tiger"? My kids had a great time with him and I felt he was quite a sensible guy. As far as I remember he had his own business. Iwas wondering whether he's still working in this area. Does he teach waterskiing too? Any idea on how to contact him? We'll be travelling there from Dec. 12th-26th. Thanks a lot!

Barbados Visiting the island in November
Posted: Fri July 6, 2007 04:31 PM UTC
As part of our package for hosting our wedding at a Hilton Hotel in Chicago, we have the option of staying for free for 5 nights at select hotels in the Caribbean - and one it the Hilton Barbados. We are considering visiting for our first anniversary in November. Is this a good time to visit? Will we be close to beautiful beaches? Will we be close to good restaurants? What else would you recommend in Bridgetown? Should we rent a car?
