I am coming to Freeport on a cruise ship 7/15/09 at 8am.
What is my most "economical" means of transporation?
I have to get from the port to Superior Watersports-Port Lucaya Marina by 9:00am.
Our cruise ship gets into Freeport early in the morning and I've selected the glass-bottom boat tour with my mother for the morning. The tour ends around noon. What to do after that? Can someone tell me if A)Does the tour end anywhere near the shopping areas or B)if not, does the tour end anywhere near where we can hop a local bus to the shopping area? Dont' want to spend $$$ on taxis...
I just booked a trip for my boyfriend and I to go to Grand Bahama Island in early January. What is the average temperature that time of year for that particular island? I've been told that since it's one of the northernmost points of the Bahama island chain that it can be kind of chilly...We're from Minneapolis, Minnesota so anything beats 20 below zero but I would like to know what to expect as far as air and water temp. Thanks.
I'm flying into Ft. Lauderdale during Labor day and I want to know if my best option to get to the Bahamas is to take the Discovery Cruise over to the island? If not, what are the best options. I will be traveling alone so what are the best hotels to stay at once I arrive in the Bahamas. What are my travel options to get to the hotel from the port?
I've read there are cheap busses that run all over the island. I'd like to check out the less touristy places, like the e. end, lucaya nat. park, gold Rock & Barbary beach. I'll be a single female traveling alone. Is this safe? If so, do the busses go to these places?
I am going to Freeport in 8 days. I was wondering if you knew if there was restaurants near our hotel. we are staying at the royal palms suites. also, is there anything that delivers, like dominos or such a place. i am really concerned that not having a vehicle will be a terrible thing and we wont have any place to eat for 3 days.
Are there any retiree's living on the island that can give me some insight on living there? I have visited the island several times, and I am seriously thinking about retiring there.

My friend and I are headed out to Grand Bahama Island in June and I was wondering if you could let me know the best ( and safest) places for two 25 year old girls to meet some fun people and have some fun on the island. I have been reading some of the reviews and I am seeing that the nightlife is not the greatest compared to the other islands and I was wondering if you had any good tips or places you could suggest. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks, char

What are some alternate ways to get from Continental US to GBI? Boat? My daughter is getting married there and I have to transport my whole family there so I am looking for the least costly way to do it. TIA
I have been to Grand Bahama twice through Discovery cruise and between the parking, the early morning rush, and the long boat ride I need a change. Does anyone know of any other cruise lines that operate in August that run on a saturday? I'm pretty sure that Bahama Florida Express does not exist any more. I read that the Cloud X out of Palm Beach is discontinuing operation and also Fred Olsen does not operate anymore as well. I prefer to leave from Fort Lauderdale, however if there is anything better I would love to know!
We are planning to travel to the Grand Bahamas in mid August. I've been reading alot about the weather, and i am still abit confused. Is it recommended to visit during this time, and should we expect rain or even hurricane weather??
NEED HELP! I don't want to stay at an all inclusive but it seems that is all there is. I would like to stay in the Lucaya area. I want to be on the beach. I don't want to spend a fortune on the hotel, but I would like a nice room for about $130.00 per night. Then again...how far am I from the local restaurants? When I eat out at home I spend between $40-$60 for a meal.
I have read about the taxes. What is a per person charge...is it a charge for extra people in the room, or is it an additional tax. Do they charge a tax to leave the island...I read that somewhere...I am not sure where. How about cabs...are they as expensive as I have read in reviews?
How did the hotels fare this year during hurricane season? Is everything up and running or is it slow in coming back to life?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
Hello, we are going to the Viva Fortuna Beach over x-mas. We are a little scared after all the reviews, especially about the rooms since some of them seem to be nice but others really crapy with mold etc. We've booked a garden view room. Can anyone tell me which rooms are the nicer ones??? I guess some have been renewed and others haven't.
Can anyone suggest the name of a budget airline (eg like JetBlue or SouthWest) that fly from any New York airport to Grand Bahama? We're after a return flight leaving NYC on 27th March and returning 1st April. Not particurly fussed about where in the Caribbean we go, but some of the hotels on GB look quite good.
I am looking for a Condo to rent at the Coral Beach sometine in October 2005. I am looking for someone who owns a condo there, but as we are Canadian, I am wondering if anyone rents their Condo to Canadians at Canadian rates????
Looking for a company who provides ferry boat/scheduled boat service between florida and Grand Bahama Island.!!! Thank You.. Jim Miller, USAF Retired San Antonio Tex 210 496 5337 jsmiller@swbell.net
Can't find any good maps to figure this out so can someone tell me, is the Lucayan Harbour where the cruise ships dock and Port Lucaya, a marina, in the same place? Are they the same port with 2 names? Or, are they in two totally different locations? I will be visiting for the 1st time and am trying to figure out exactly where I'll be and what there will be to do there. Thank you!!
I'm taking a 1 day cruise to Freeport from FL....is there anything to do in walking distance from the Lucayan Harbour? Any beaches? Or, do I have to take a taxi? Also, if I do take a taxi somewhere, can I schedule a taxi pick up for later to take me back to the harbour? On some islands, the taxi drivers won't do that so I was wondering. Thank you!
HAS ANYONE STAYED AT THE FLAMINGO BAY HOTEL? WHAT IS THE QUALITY OF THE ROOMS AND THE HOTEL OVERALL? I WILL BE VISITING GBI THE FIRST WEEK OF OCTOBER FOR THE FIRST TIME! IS THAT A GOOD TIME TO GO? WHAT INTERESTING ACTIVITES SHOULD MY BOYFRIEND AND I DO WHILE THERE? ANY AND ALL ADVICE WILL HELP! THANK YOU ALL FOR UR TIME!
Hello, My sister and I are vacationing at the Island Sea Resort in September. We would like to cut costs by cooking some of our own meals (we have a kitchenette in our room). The reading I have done on-line tells me groceries are quite expensive. Does anyone have a suggestion as where to shop for a few provisions that won’t “break the bank”? Also, any other suggestions on what to do, what to see and where to eat are very much welcome. Thanks in advance, Deb
I am taking two plane trips to get to the bahamas. From Texas to florida, then to the Bahamas. Does anyone know if people loose their luggage when they don't take them as a carry on?
I am due to stay there late in January in one of their newly built rooms. Because they are so new they only have artists impressions on their web site - anyone stayed and got first hand experience of the rooms or the hotel for that matter. I am looking for a total relax, so hope to find this too. I will also be travelling with my wife and one year old son - any tips here? What will the weather be like? - we are travelling from England via New York for five days, where the weather will be really really cold - I want to pack light for the Bahama part of the trip, but dont want to stand out as having too few suitable clothes - Help?
I am trying to find information on Dundee Bay Villas in Freeport. Has anyone stayed there? What is your opinion of the property? It was recommended to us by our vacation club and we are trying to research it.
