Doolin Staying in Doolin, no car, how difficult to get around?
Posted: Fri September 4, 2009 03:18 AM UTC
I'd like to stay a few days in Doolin and take some boat tours and bus tours. What can anyone recommend as a good central locations/hotel where I can easily walk to the pier, etc? I don't mind walking several km. I don't want to waste money on taxis. I'd love to stay at the Ballinalacken Castle Hotel but can't get an idea on how far it is from the pier, restaurants, etc. Thanx

Hi,
I am getting hopelessly lost in all timetables, trying to find a way to get back to Dublin after Willie Clancy week. I have to be at Dublin airport around 10 Sunday morning. Can anyone help with advice/tip/ride? Thanks.

County Clare hotel in ennis, driving to miltown malbay
Posted: Sun June 21, 2009 10:39 PM UTC
Hello- Because I waited too long to book, the best I could do to see some of Willie Clancy Week was to book a hotel in Ennis. We'll have a car; how awful will it be to be based that far away? What about coming back in evenings -- how late does it stay light? Are the roads particularly bad? Many thanks! We grow more excited each day.

Doolin Aran Islands ferries
Posted: Sun June 7, 2009 09:01 PM UTC
I'm off to County Clare in august and spending several days in Doolin, I know there are two or three ferry companies serving the Aran Islands but I am unsure as to how far in advance I'd need to book a ferry for a day trip to any of the islands. Is it possible to just turn up on the day or is advance booking required?

Am wondering how to pronounce the O'Brien's Lemaneagh Castle. It would help in my presentation of my latest trip to Ireland.

Thanks!

County Clare Willie Clancy and Gleesons in west Coore?
Posted: Sat May 30, 2009 02:16 AM UTC
Hi- I'm a music professor interested in visiting during Willie Clancy Summer School and also trying to get to Gleesons pub, which, as I understand it, is in west Coore. Can anyone give me tips on either of these? I'm guessing I should have a car. What is the closest I can reasonably hope to stay without spending a fortune>? How big an attraction is Willie Clancy?

Many thanks,

I have just booked some cheap flights for me and my wife for her birthday to shannon airport for 2 nights and was wondering where was best to stay. Ennis or Limerick or even shannon. We would like something to explore during the day and we would like somewhere with some nice restuarants and we like a drink so lots of pubs too. Any info would be great.

Ennis the night life
Posted: Tue October 14, 2008 05:05 PM UTC
Im from the united states and I am going to ireland for a few weeks. One of the places that I am staying at is Ennis and I would like to know what the night life is for my sister (17) and I (20). What is the drinking age? How old do you have to be to get into the bars? Is parking a problem? Or anything that you might think to help us enjoy the night life in Ireland.

County Clare Shannon airport - lahinch?
Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 02:28 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm a Ireland-lover and after going to Dublin a few times I decided to go to the west. I'm going to stay (most likely) in a hostel in Lahinch. I'd like to hear your opinion on the safety in these hostels (I'm a young woman), things to do in that area (nature, history, pubs, cultural, anything will do,..) and how to get there from the airport preferably by public transport as I'm on a tight budget and can not rent a car because I don't habe a license.

Thank you!

County Clare Getting to Liscannor
Posted: Fri March 7, 2008 10:24 AM UTC
Hi,
I booked a Altantic View B&B in Liscannor.
Actually the adress says Liscannor, but information I have read on their website states that the B&B is 3 miles from Liscannor and 4 miles from Doolin, has anyone stayed there or you know where it is and how best to reach it?

I am also wondering if someone could tell me how to get there from Dublin by public transportation (bus since we will be travelling on a tight budget).

I would appreciate all the help.

Doolin accomodation off season
Posted: Mon January 14, 2008 05:41 AM UTC
Have tried to email Mcgann's B&B about 3 times as I have heard it is great but they have not replied, and am having trouble finding any other B&B's which are open at the beginning of March. The ones I have contacted all advise they are not open at that time of the year. I am looking for somewhere within walking distance to Doolin centre for the 8th and possibly the 9th March 2008. Does any one have any suggestions.

Shannon anyone used roomex to book hotels in Ireland?
Posted: Sun August 19, 2007 05:44 PM UTC
Hello, I'm looking for a nice but cheap hotel near the Shannon airport. Roomex.com seems to have great rates, but I'm nervous about purchasing that way and then showing up with no room or bad results. Has anyone used roomex.com and if so, did you have a good experience?

Thanks!

What is the best way to get from Shannon Airport to Bunratty Shannon Shamrock? Is there a bus or train that can get me there? I've heard I could hire a taxi but that seems like it could be costly.

Doolin O'Connor's Pub
Posted: Mon March 12, 2007 02:52 AM UTC
Less than 3 years ago, my wife and I stayed at the Aranview Hotel and we ate at O'Connor's Pub. The Irish Stew that I had that evening was one of the most delicious meals that I ever had. The menu indicated that the base for the sauce was Guinness. We would like to return for another meal someday, but in the meantime is it possible to get the recipe for the Stew?
Thank you.

Ennis Any Cusak Park Events 18 or 19 Aug 2007 ???
Posted: Sat February 17, 2007 04:22 PM UTC
My son and I will be in Ennis on 18 Aug 2007 and are currently scheduled to fly home on 19 Aug. I have not been able to locate any scheduled events for that weekend. An Irish friend states that football games are played mostly on Sundays and that a hurling match may also occur on the same day. If there are no events on the 18th and there would be on the 19th, I am willing to change our flight and leave on the 20th (paying a penalty).

Any information to help me make a decision would be greatly appreciated.
