| County Clare | Shannon airport - lahinch? Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 01:28 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm a Ireland-lover and after going to Dublin a few times I decided to go to the west. I'm going to stay (most likely) in a hostel in Lahinch. I'd like to hear your opinion on the safety in these hostels (I'm a young woman), things to do in that area (nature, history, pubs, cultural, anything will do,..) and how to get there from the airport preferably by public transport as I'm on a tight budget and can not rent a car because I don't habe a license. Thank you! Tamara |

| County Clare | Getting to Liscannor Posted: Fri March 7, 2008 09:24 AM UTC
Hi,
I booked a Altantic View B&B in Liscannor. Actually the adress says Liscannor, but information I have read on their website states that the B&B is 3 miles from Liscannor and 4 miles from Doolin, has anyone stayed there or you know where it is and how best to reach it? I am also wondering if someone could tell me how to get there from Dublin by public transportation (bus since we will be travelling on a tight budget). I would appreciate all the help. |

| Doolin | accomodation off season Posted: Mon January 14, 2008 04:41 AM UTC
Have tried to email Mcgann's B&B about 3 times as I have heard it is great but they have not replied, and am having trouble finding any other B&B's which are open at the beginning of March. The ones I have contacted all advise they are not open at that time of the year. I am looking for somewhere within walking distance to Doolin centre for the 8th and possibly the 9th March 2008. Does any one have any suggestions.

| Shannon | anyone used roomex to book hotels in Ireland? Posted: Sun August 19, 2007 04:44 PM UTC
Hello, I'm looking for a nice but cheap hotel near the Shannon airport. Roomex.com seems to have great rates, but I'm nervous about purchasing that way and then showing up with no room or bad results. Has anyone used roomex.com and if so, did you have a good experience?
Thanks! Diz |

| Shannon | transportation Posted: Sat June 9, 2007 05:31 AM UTC
What is the best way to get from Shannon Airport to Bunratty Shannon Shamrock? Is there a bus or train that can get me there? I've heard I could hire a taxi but that seems like it could be costly.

| Doolin | O'Connor's Pub Posted: Mon March 12, 2007 01:52 AM UTC
Less than 3 years ago, my wife and I stayed at the Aranview Hotel and we ate at O'Connor's Pub. The Irish Stew that I had that evening was one of the most delicious meals that I ever had. The menu indicated that the base for the sauce was Guinness. We would like to return for another meal someday, but in the meantime is it possible to get the recipe for the Stew?
Thank you. |

| Ennis | Any Cusak Park Events 18 or 19 Aug 2007 ??? Posted: Sat February 17, 2007 03:22 PM UTC
My son and I will be in Ennis on 18 Aug 2007 and are currently scheduled to fly home on 19 Aug. I have not been able to locate any scheduled events for that weekend. An Irish friend states that football games are played mostly on Sundays and that a hurling match may also occur on the same day. If there are no events on the 18th and there would be on the 19th, I am willing to change our flight and leave on the 20th (paying a penalty).
Any information to help me make a decision would be greatly appreciated. |

| Shannon | Help me! I need a place to stay for two three days Posted: Sat September 30, 2006 10:56 AM UTC
I'm relocating to Shannon and arrive there Sunday 1st of October, the day after I start to work there, but I don't have a place to stay, a B&B cheap and close (I have my own bicycle) to the city will be fine, then I'd search for a permanent accomodation.
Thanks in advance. Bye |

| County Clare | itinerary help & festival info: Clare, Kerry, Limerick, Galway - Arran Island? Posted: Thu September 28, 2006 01:17 AM UTC
Hello,
Ireland! I arrive in Shannon 1:45 p.m. Saturday, October 14. I plan to attend a poetry festival in Limerick City the 18th & 19th or just the 19th. And I plan to attend a writers festival in Clonmel October 20, 21 and maybe the morning of the 22. My return flight is Monday morning, from Shannon at 6:45 a.m. I have a plane ticket and a car rental arranged. My question/s. I have either four or five unscheduled days before the festivals, and I'd like to do the Ring of Kerry trip and maybe Galways. Also, I looking to find out if the boat to Arran Island will still be running when I am there. First I'd like to know what kind of time I should allow. Is four days reasonable to do this? Do I need five? Is five not enough and do I need to limit my agenda, perhaps just to the Ring of Kerry? Also, does anyone have any experience in attending Irish festivals? Do they bring crowds? And this leads to my last question: Can I make B&B reservations as I go or do you think I need to book in advance? Thank you for any information or suggestions or words of encouragement you may have. Best regards, xxDianaxx |

| Doolin | On our way to Doolin... Posted: Thu August 17, 2006 05:15 PM UTC
Hi Folks! My friend and I are Doolin-bound on September 2, 2006.
I've found all your pages most helpful--can't wait to see the cliffs, islands, and pubs. I bless whomever mentioned that Doolin has no-ATM's! Thank you much! Here's the bummer thing: our rental car fell through. (Way too many Euro's required to secure one) so we're going to be limited by what we can see with our own two feet, bus pass, and occasional taxi. Aside from the cliffs, burren, island, caves and Doonagore castle, anythind else local to Doolin you'd recommend seeing? How about anything that can be reached on a one-day's bus trip? Limerick is in the works...as is Ennis. Thanks! Cincinnatichicki |

| County Clare | Galway, Bunratty, Aran Island + Hostels Posted: Tue July 18, 2006 02:18 AM UTC
Hi! My friends and I are going to Ireland and our itinerary includes this:
Day 1 (evening): Dinner at Bunratty Castle Day 2: Bunratty Day 3: Galway Day 4: Aran Islands How does that look? Since we only have 3 full days, should we devote 2 days to Galway and skip Aran Island (I personally really wanted to see it but wasn't sure if it was realistic)? Also, we had planned on spending one night in Bunratty - does anyone know of a cheap hostel? Then we planned on staying in Galway for two nights and maybe do a day trip to the Aran Islands. Feedback is welcome. Thanks! |

My fiancee & I will be arriving in Shannon on 7/3/6, renting a car and plan to drive from Shannon through all local areas (especially Wexford & Longford since that's where my grandparents are from),making a complete circle and leaving frm Shannon on 7/12. I am a wee bit nervous about not having anything really scheduled (such as hotels), can anyone recommend sites to see or places to stay. I would hate to arrive in Shannon after traveling all the way frm Ft. Lauderdale,Florida and not have a place to stay. HELP!!!

| County Clare | Where to stay in County Clare Posted: Wed June 7, 2006 10:17 PM UTC
I'm hoping to go to County Clare at the end of the month with a friend but as I don't really know the area I'm unsure where's best to book some accommodation. The sort of things we'll be doing is coastal/forest walks, wildlife watching etc so anywhere that's pretty central for that would be great.
Also, what's the public transport system like in the area? Is it worthwhile hiring a car? Thanks in advance! Seb |

| Ennis | Ennis-Burren area Posted: Tue May 30, 2006 04:53 PM UTC
Hi. My friend and I are planning our trip to Ireland for this summer. I want to make sure that I don't miss the Burren area, including Cliffs of Moher. We will be coming from Killarney or Dingle (not sure yet). I was wondering if Ennis is a good town to use as a home base for a day or two to visit the Cliffs and Burren area. Or--should a different town be used. We'll have three days in Galway, but one of those is probably going to be an Aran Islands day....
From Killarney, we are still not sure about where to go next--Dingle? Tralee? Ennis? Our main priority is to not lose days on a bus as we get to the next spot.... Any words of advice? Thanks! |
