San Juan San Juan Airport - Connect Flight With Different Airline
Posted: Fri October 23, 2009 04:02 AM UTC
We are looking at flying into San Juan International via Spirit arriving 3:22 PM on a Monday. We will have a connecting flight on American into Tortola departing at 4:30 PM. This gives a little over an hour to pick up baggage and check back in @ American and catch flight. Is this enough time???? OR should we just be safe and book the next American flight giving 2 hours layover. 2 Adults 1 Child with 6 full bags and carry on. Thanks in advance.

San Juan Puerto Rico is - Alcohol Ban
Posted: Wed October 21, 2009 04:05 PM UTC
The Senate of Puerto Rico approved legislation Monday (Oct. 18, 2009)to ban the sale of alcohol after midnight on weekdays and 2 a.m. on weekends. Legislation to extends the ban to bars, restaurants, casinos, hotels and small inns. What islands still offer a fun filled vacation where an adult can enjoy an alcholic drink at the pool, casino and/or a bar?

Puerto Rico Puerto Rico or Miami
Posted: Fri October 2, 2009 04:23 PM UTC
Hi,

I was actually thinking of planning a trip to PR from 20th - 27th of Nov '09.
Then I started thinking is it worthwhile to go to PR as opposed to Miami.
But wanted to get some inputs on how different it would be when compared to Miami?
We vacationed in Miami last year and loved it.
Any comparisons on nightlife, outdoor activities would be helpful.

Thanks

Puerto Rico 5 hour layover in San Juan
Posted: Mon September 14, 2009 04:43 PM UTC
I'd like suggestions for things to do and places to go (preferably by public transportation) from the airport and back during a 5 hour layover in the afternoon--2:25-7:00 PM. A couple of years my cruise ship had about the same length of time in the San Juan port, I asked the cruise director to recommend a nice beach; she named a lovely one and told me how to get there by bus. I can't do that from the airport. though.

Puerto Rico Rainforest/Bioluminescent Bay? We need more ppl 8/20 or 8/21
Posted: Mon August 17, 2009 10:31 PM UTC
I'm taking a trip on Thursday - Monday (8/20 - 8/24) to San Juan w/ my sig. other and we'd like to do the Rainforest/Bioluminescent Bay tour on either Friday or Saturday (8/21 or 8/22). www.kayakingpuertorico.com/pages/biobayrainforest.html

There are just 2 of us and when I called today, the man said they need minimum of 6 people to go. Is anyone going to San Juan that would like to sign up too? We are staying at one of the bigger hotels and they come and pick you up and drop you off... just putting it out there in hopes that we can get 6 ppl to do the trip. We've heard from friends it's a great thing to do.

San Juan San Juan Cathedral
Posted: Mon August 10, 2009 12:31 AM UTC
What is the address of the Cathedral. Fridns of mine who went to Old San Juan cannot remember the name of a hotel they recommend I stay at. They just said it is accross the street from the convent, which should be next door to the Cathedral, I think. Can you help me with this.

Puerto Rico what would you suggest?
Posted: Sat August 8, 2009 11:47 AM UTC
My wife and I are thinking a week in March '10. Arrive San Juan and get over to Luquillo area for a few days mountain hiking and snorkeling the coast.
Day trips to offshore islands or stay on Culebra?
If you had a week what would you do? We are active seniors, who are very adaptable and flexible and not the all-inclusive types.
Would it be better to limit the excursions from Luquillo to easy day trips and get immersed in just the eastern regions, leaving the other regions to explore on another trip? Is staying in one place and exploring the entire island feasible. We would like to see as much as possible of the Island but not just through the windsheild. I don't want to be driving the entire time with just a few moments of stops here and there.

San Juan Vacation rental apartment Old San Juan
Posted: Tue July 21, 2009 03:16 PM UTC
Hi All,

Would anyone know if it is possible to rent a reasonably priced apartment in Old San Juan over X-mas? I am looking to do so rather than stay in a crowded, chrome and glass covered hotel. Period 25 December to 04 January. Maybe there are locals who rent apartments like this?

Many thanks,

San Juan BIO BAY TOURS // Ponce
Posted: Sun April 19, 2009 05:54 PM UTC
On a last minute whim, I booked a trip to Puerto Rico for five days next week- April 24 -29. We are retirees, and not particularly fit enough for strenuous hiking, etc. We would like to take a night bio tour in Fajardo. Any recommendations for the "best" one- or any companies to avoid?

Also, we are not into casinos or tanning, but prefer to see the island. Is it worth an overnight in Ponce to visit in the area?

Thanks for your help!

San Juan American Expats...need advice
Posted: Wed April 1, 2009 04:06 PM UTC
Perhaps a bit of back story before I post my query...My wife and I have travelled extensively since I left the radio business(I was a DJ). We have covered a large portion of the mainland, sailed the Gulf of Mexico, lived in Key West for 3 years. We, on our last sojourn found ourselves stranded in West Virginia after the RV caught on fire. We have been living and working here for a year trying to figure out our next adventure. We don't have very much money but are very interested in flying to Puerto Rico, finding work and staying there. We are very frugal travellers and are wondering...Are there campgrounds designed for extended stays? Are they close to bus lines? Can I find work there(construction? writing? service industry)...We know no one there but we are not afraid to camp in the woods and walk to the work if there is any. We want to do this and probably will anyway even if warned that it is not a wise decision, haha. Any comments and advice would be welcome...Thank you all!

Puerto Rico Royal Caribbean Disembarkation Time
Posted: Sun March 1, 2009 08:09 AM UTC
How much time should you allow for a transport to SJU airport from the cruise terminal? I have booked flights departing from SJU Airport at 12:45pm. Cruise ship docks at 07:00 but have noticed on RC wesite that earliest time to disembark is 11:00. Is that true, if so it doesnt leave much time. My previous experience of RC in mediterranean was that the disembarking started within an hour or so of docking but not at the advertised time. Is Puerto Rico any different. Would it be quicker to use RC transfers or is a getting a cab easier. PS We dock on a Sunday in July
