San Juan Park Hotel in Old San Juan Posted: Tue April 28, 2009 05:20 PM UTC
Has anybody stayed in San Juan Park Hotel, I'm having a hard time finding pictures of the hotel. I'm looking for a small hotel in Old San Juan or Condado, I don't want the busy hotels with casinos.

BIO BAY TOURS // Ponce Posted: Sun April 19, 2009 04:54 PM UTC
On a last minute whim, I booked a trip to Puerto Rico for five days next week- April 24 -29. We are retirees, and not particularly fit enough for strenuous hiking, etc. We would like to take a night bio tour in Fajardo. Any recommendations for the "best" one- or any companies to avoid?
Also, we are not into casinos or tanning, but prefer to see the island. Is it worth an overnight in Ponce to visit in the area?
Thanks for your help!

American Expats...need advice Posted: Wed April 1, 2009 03:06 PM UTC
Perhaps a bit of back story before I post my query...My wife and I have travelled extensively since I left the radio business(I was a DJ). We have covered a large portion of the mainland, sailed the Gulf of Mexico, lived in Key West for 3 years. We, on our last sojourn found ourselves stranded in West Virginia after the RV caught on fire. We have been living and working here for a year trying to figure out our next adventure. We don't have very much money but are very interested in flying to Puerto Rico, finding work and staying there. We are very frugal travellers and are wondering...Are there campgrounds designed for extended stays? Are they close to bus lines? Can I find work there(construction? writing? service industry)...We know no one there but we are not afraid to camp in the woods and walk to the work if there is any. We want to do this and probably will anyway even if warned that it is not a wise decision, haha. Any comments and advice would be welcome...Thank you all!

Puerto Rico is Similar to ... ??? Posted: Thu March 12, 2009 05:36 AM UTC
I've never been to Puerto Rico but have spent extensive time in both Miami and Hawaii. Is a visit to PR similar to either? If so, how?

Royal Caribbean Disembarkation Time Posted: Sun March 1, 2009 07:09 AM UTC
How much time should you allow for a transport to SJU airport from the cruise terminal? I have booked flights departing from SJU Airport at 12:45pm. Cruise ship docks at 07:00 but have noticed on RC wesite that earliest time to disembark is 11:00. Is that true, if so it doesnt leave much time. My previous experience of RC in mediterranean was that the disembarking started within an hour or so of docking but not at the advertised time. Is Puerto Rico any different. Would it be quicker to use RC transfers or is a getting a cab easier. PS We dock on a Sunday in July

Authentic Puerto Rican Salsa Experience..... Posted: Tue February 24, 2009 11:36 PM UTC
I've seen a lot of listings for salsa dancing at hotels in the condado and isla verde areas....I'm a 20-something salsera from Los Angeles and I wanna dance where other LOCAL 20 and 30-somethings go for dancing. I'm not a beginner, so I don't need a place that offers classes beforehand. Would you recommend these same places for someone who's looking to have an authentic puerto rican salsa experience?

Will travel for food..... Posted: Tue February 24, 2009 11:33 PM UTC
I will be in Puerto Rico for 1 week in March. My friend and I are trying to come up w/ something creative to do outside of the usual touristy day trips. We came up w/ the idea of going on a "Food Road Trip." Kinda like Anthony Bourdain. We will have a rental car so location is not a problem. Any recommendations for off the hook, must taste, food experiences? Preferrably outside of the immediate San Juan area.
I've already been schooled on Guavate.....

San Juan airport to Aguadilla Posted: Sat February 21, 2009 10:59 AM UTC
We're from Chicago and will be coming to Puerto Rico later this year. We're coming with our kids and grand kids. We stay in Aguadilla and typically fly into the airport there. Unfortunately, the flights to that airport all go through NY or NJ and both have very long layovers. I don't think our grand kids would handle a 5 hour layover. We could rent cars at the San Juan airport but we would need much more of car to travel accross the island with all of our luggage. I'm looking for a shuttle or something that could transport us accross the island. We could rent a couple smaller cars there. Does anyone know of such a service at the San Juan airport.
I know this all sounds insane especially when we're staying about 5 minutes from the airport in Aguadilla.
Thanks

Kay Posted: Wed February 18, 2009 11:01 PM UTC
My 19 year old daughter just surprised me with a mother-daughter trip to PR for my 53rd birthday!! We leave March 9th for 4 nights. She booked us into the Casa del Caribe and rented an economy car (she's a college student and is doing this on her budget!!!)
I went to PR a few times in the 1970's and stayed at a great little hotel called Duffy's. It looks like Casa del Caribe is the same type of place.
Anyone have any knowledge of this little place?
My daughter and I are hiker/backpacker/low key kind of people (I'm an aging hippie and she is a eco-conscious/cultural adventurer).
We're going to El Yunque and Culebre and seeing Old San Juan. Tell me what has changed since the 1970's and what we should be doing!!!!!!
Thanks!

Help on info on car rental in Puerto Rico Posted: Wed January 28, 2009 05:49 AM UTC
Hello
I will be flying with family to San Juan and going to Four Points by Sheraton Resort & Casino at Palmas Del Mar in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Then I need to go to the cruise terminal next day. When I return I need to go from Cruise Terminal to Humacao, Puerto Rico.
If I rent a car can I take it back to the airport and then go to the cruise terminal. When I come back do I have to go to the airport to rent another car? I don't know anything about Puerto Rcio. I appreciate your help.

things to do alone near Aguadilla Posted: Fri January 16, 2009 04:22 AM UTC
I'm joining my sister for her business trip in Aguadilla, so will be on my own for five days while she works. I will have a car, but don't won't to go too far so I can meet back up with her for dinner. Does anyone have suggestions of where I could go and what to do? I am a young woman in my twenties, so want to stay safe. I'm interested in anything outdoors: snorkeling, kayaking, horseback riding, biking, hiking. Any good tours out there so I could be around other people? Also, anything historical or cultural, like museums, etc? We will be heading east to San Juan and El Yunque for the weekend. Thanks for your help!

Hi all, coming to Puerto Rico Posted: Thu January 15, 2009 02:43 PM UTC
Hello all,
I am coming to Puerto Rico for a couple months but have yet decided which months I would like to go there. I am going to live in the Caribbean and Central America and possibly South America throughout the rest of 2009. I'd like Puerto Rico to definitely be one of my locations to travel too and was wondering, if staying for a couple or few months, what the best time to go to PR is? My interests are populated beaches, good nightlife (for a mid twenties male) and internet.
I am looking at Isla Verda unless someone can recommend a better place!
Thanks!

What's happening in March? Posted: Fri January 9, 2009 02:54 AM UTC
I'm planning to be in PR in late March. I'd like to find out if there will be any cultural festivals or live concerts. How can I get this info? I was able to find info regarding the Coliseo de San Juan, but the only thing going on in March is the Jonas Brothers.....no thanks. How can I find other concert venues?

My girl friend and me have just decided to book flights to Puerto Rico. We are staying for a week in the second half of January. We will rent a car so transportation is not an issue. Any ideas for things to do during a week (besides the beaches ;)

Anything really fascinating or different to do in Puerto Rico? Posted: Sun December 14, 2008 05:09 PM UTC
The husband is heading there for just over a week in March to attend a premiere of a requiem written by a local composer.
So Puerto Rico is more than beaches and rainforest and cruise ships.
He'll be with friends who are coming in from Canada and the States - and they will be renting a flat (condo I think it is called) so if you go to Puerto Rico and you don't want to just chill and do the beaches (which do seem beautiful, I have told husband to be sure to pack swim shorts) what is there to do?
Thanks for any tips and hints.
