Transportation in Easter Island] Posted: Mon November 9, 2009 04:27 AM UTC
Hi World,
We will be arriving at Easter Island with a Cruise Ship. Are there any local taxi or private car for us to tour the Island from the cruise port? How much will it be? Any other options? Do they speak English?
Thanks

where to eat on Easter Island Posted: Sat October 11, 2008 04:13 AM UTC
I (an older single lady) will be on Easter Island for a few days later this year. Where are the best cafes/restaurants to eat? Also any good reports on Hotel Gomero - don't think I want to hear any bad ones! Thanks in advance for your replies

Easter Island during Tapati festival 2009 Posted: Fri August 22, 2008 10:44 AM UTC
Hi,
Due to the festival I do not like to try my luck for Casa de Famila at arrival. Is there any website with email addresses, or even online booking?
If you have any recommended Casa with contact details - please let me know.
Thanks

I notice that if I indicate my country of residence as Chile, the round-trip fare from Santiago to Easter Island is cut from $791 USD to $308 USD. Can I book it via the Chile website and will they honor the ticket for an American?

Is there a option to get to Rapa Nui by boat? How about Pitcairn Island? Posted: Tue June 3, 2008 04:57 AM UTC
The answer may be more adventurous or time consuming than I can deal with, but what the heck... Is there some option to get there by supply boat? The reason I ask is I understand that's how you get to Pitcairn Island. Which brings up the question, does anyone combine Rapa Nui trip with Pitcairn Island, or is that just too much time out of the office :)
Airfare from SF is $6300 USD economy class p/p. ouch.

Easter Island solo in June/Julyish Posted: Wed February 20, 2008 04:57 AM UTC
I'll be volunteering in Peru, Chile, or Argentina for a few summer months and concluding this experience with a 4-7-day adventure to EI is very important to me. I realize this tends to be a poor time to go in terms of weather. I'm female and going alone, is there anything I should be wary of? I've heard people are generally nice but things happen sometimes, plus this is my first serious solo trip! Does anyone have any advice specific to this time of year, especially in terms of affordable accomodations, flights, and tour guides?

Accomodations Posted: Wed August 15, 2007 08:07 PM UTC
I am travelling to Easter Island for the first time in Jan 08 and I am looking for accomodations. I am very heat sensitive so require Air Condiotioning to sleep at nite, this greatly limits my choices. Explora hotels is currently leasing two houses that through some research I learned belong to a local woman that used to rent out rooms in them. These leases I see expire in December when Explora has the new property. Those anyone know if the owner will once again rent out rooms? Or does anyone know how to contact her?

Tapati Rapa Nui Posted: Tue June 26, 2007 10:32 PM UTC
Hi,
We're hoping to see Easter Island during our year in South America. I've heard there's a big festival - Tapati Rapa Nui - on in early February and we're considering booking our flights for that time. Has anyone here visited during Tapati Rapa Nui? Is it a good time to visit Easter Island or is it way too busy? Also, does anyone know the exact dates of the festival for 2008?
Many thanks,
Barry

Advice requested: when should we have a guide? Posted: Sun March 4, 2007 01:23 AM UTC
We'll be following the five-day itinerary described in the Guide To EI, and are wondering if there are particular areas that really _need_ a guide. Orongo? Poike? We'll probably hire a jeep for the week...TIA!

Ideas for Travel from USA to Chile & Easter Island Posted: Sat March 3, 2007 12:50 AM UTC
Does anyone have any ideas regarding tour companies in the USA offering tours to Chile combined with an Easter Island experience? We're considering such a trip in the next couple years. If no ideas on tour companies, what's the best way to book such a trip on your own?
