Train to Nuremburg Posted: Thu December 4, 2008 06:34 AM UTC
Hello all,
I am planning a day trip to Rothenburg from Nuremburg. I plan to be there on Sunday,
Does the night watchman perform on Sunday and is the christmas museum open?
Since I want to catch the night watchman i will need to take the last night train to nuremburg at 10pm.
Getting to my real questions: I will have to make two train changes. The layovers at each station are very tight, around 5 minutes. How likely is it that a train will be late, causing me to miss the next train? Do they que the connecting trains if the previous one is tardy? Will there be other trains I can get on if I miss the connectors or am I stuck at the train station all night? Should I skip the night watchman and hop on an earlier train?
thanks for much for your help

Loveliest place to stay in Rothenburg Posted: Mon November 10, 2008 10:25 AM UTC
Hello,
My husband and I are looking for somewhere to stay in Rothenburg ob der Tauber for 2 nights in December. We would like to stay somewhere really special. Any ideas?
We are then going to drive down to Munich stopping for a few nights on the way. Where are the best places to visit and stay in the area from Rothenburg down to Munich. Nordlingen? Augsburg?
I love Germany and particularly Bavaria however i have only visited the south around Munich.
Many Thanks

Horseback riding near Rothenburg? Posted: Thu September 18, 2008 02:29 AM UTC
Could anyone give suggestions on places in/near Rothenburg where we could go horseback riding through the countryside for an hour or two? We will not have a car, so something within walking or taxi distance from old town would be perfect. Thanks!

Luggage transfer from Wurzburg to Rothenburg Posted: Sun May 18, 2008 08:32 PM UTC
We are traveling by bicycle from Wurzburg to Rothenburg using folding bicycles that will have been brought to Germany in large suitcases. We need to have these empty suitcases moved from our hotel in Wurzburg to our hotel in Rothenburg while we take four days to ride between the two cities. Any suggestion of how we might have our four suitcases transferred from Wurzburg to Rothenburg? Thanks for the help. David

Hi all,
I'm planning to stay in Rothenberg with my boyfriend for 2 nights (May 28, 29), and I was hoping someone could recommend a place for us to stay that is not too expensive. Also, we are backpacking and will arrive by train to Rothenburg-- any suggestions on what location would be best? Thanks for your help!

How many 'Rothenburg' Posted: Thu March 20, 2008 08:20 AM UTC
Hi,
I am trying to rent a car in Fussen and hope to return it in Rothenburg. However, most websites do not simply name Rothenburg as it is. For eg, Fussen is known as Garmisch Partenkirchen. I do not know German and it is pure luck that I discovered the other name for Fussen. If not I would have needlessly spent more money renting from Munich. So, is there another name that Rothenburg goes by? Thanks for any advice.

getting to Salzburg, Austria, from Rothenburg o.d.T. Posted: Wed September 19, 2007 12:59 PM UTC
We have been trying to find the best way to get from Rothenburg ob der Tauber to Salzburg on Wednesday 10 October 2007. We are open to trains, planes, boats, hydrofoils, buses and rented cars. It seems it will take many connections regardless of what combination of transport modes we choose, so I am wondering what you might suggest.
Thanks in advance!

Two Rothenburgs?? Posted: Fri February 16, 2007 08:35 PM UTC
Hello,
My daughter is travelling to Germany on a school exchange & "Rothenburg" is on the itinerary. I'm a bit confused because on my map of Germany there's another "Rothenburg" which is east of Dresden. It looks very small. Is it also a tourist attraction? Is "Rothenburg of der Tauber" often referred to as just "Rothenburg."
signed,
Confused

Rothenburg in March Posted: Sat January 27, 2007 08:13 PM UTC
Guten Tag,
I visited Rothenburg in July of 1992 and stayed in a lovely little inn whose name was red rooster or rooster in English. Does anyone know if it is still there? What is it like in March--weather, things to do, etc.? Also, are there any gay bars or gay friendly places there?
Thanks very much for any information.

terracotta replicas! Posted: Mon November 27, 2006 10:01 PM UTC
Hi! thanks for your tips, we recently visited Rothenburg and LOVED it. I was dying to get my hands on a terracotta replica, but failed to do so since the shop was closed on sundays. bummer. Do you konw anything about the manufaturer, or where I could get one online? I have exhausted ebay, and german ebay. I would love to purchase one from the actual shop, but don't know the name of the shop or a phone number. Thanks for ANY info you can give me on this shop, and the terracotta village! -poshbeki

Can we take bikes on a train or bus from Rothenburg to Dinkelsbuhl? Posted: Tue August 1, 2006 03:33 AM UTC
My fiance and I are biking parts of the Romantic Road in August. Due to limted time, we have to take the train or bus through some parts of the route. I was searching for a train timetable to take a train from Rothenburg to Dinkelsbuhl with our bikes, but there seem to be no trains that take that route. I am missing something? Are there busses? Can we bring 2 bikes on a bus (is there bike storage on the busses)?
thanks!!

Munich - Rothenburg by bus Posted: Fri July 28, 2006 05:49 PM UTC
Hi!
I'm visiting Rothenburg ob der Tauber this summer but, unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time to spend there. I am travelling from Munich, being 3 hours by train with 2 or 3 changes. Could you please tell me if travelling by bus is worth?
Thanks a lot!

After Rothenburg then what before Munich? Posted: Fri March 3, 2006 07:26 PM UTC
Should I make a stop at any towns between Rothenburg and Munich? On our trip in April we're coming from Frankfurt, then Heidelburg, then Rothenburg before proceeding on -- basically all the major tourist stops I guess (staying for a day or two at each town). I just wanted to know if there are any towns that we shouldn't skip over.
We're only going to be in Germany for 9-days and for two or so days would like to go to Salzburg and perhaps Hallstatt. So I'm trying to find out if more time should be spent on other towns or if from Rothenburg we should head to Munich area to have enough time there and Austria.

shops car rentals open sat and sunday in rothenburg? Posted: Sat October 22, 2005 06:01 PM UTC
hi, still cant decide on my last 2 days of 4 days on the romantic road. nov 3 and 4 booked already at rothenburg hotel. have to be at munich nov. 6. what do i do nov.5 to 6? have been trying to find out if car rentals are open in rothenburg on sat and sun. also are shops open in rothenburg on sat and sun? so far couldnt get any info. i will base my decision on the answer to these questions.if car rentals close sat, will rent one fri and drive to dink and nord and back to roth for overnight. then see more of roth sat and leave sunday so have to book a hotel in roth for sat night. if i can rent a car sun and can leave car in another town then will drive to dink and nord then leave car in nord and take train to munich.or if can rent on sat can drive to dink, stay the night then drive to nord sun then leave car there and train to munich. pls advice me! or should i just not book a hotel for sat night and just go with the flow? thinking of staying at altfrankische weinstube sat night if i stay in roth. anybody stayed there? reserved 2 nights at hotel gotisches haus and its a bigger grander place so looking for one night in a smaller b&b type that's small and quaint and very old german. no modern or 60's or 70's type of things. thanks for any help!
