| Uruguay | Bus Prices in Uruguay Posted: Sat April 19, 2008 12:26 AM UTC
I will be traveling to Uruguay next week from Buenos Aires and I'm trying to decide whether I should buy a ferry ticket ahead of time, coming back to Buenos Aires from Montevideo, or if I should buy a bus ticket from Montevideo to Colonia, and just take the ferry from there. Will I save money with one of these options over the other one? Thanks!!

| Uruguay | Transport - Bus from Punta del Este to Valizas/Cabo Polonio? Posted: Tue April 15, 2008 10:14 PM UTC
Hey all, I'll be in Uruguay in about 8-9 days and at some point in my trip I'd like to get from Punta del Este to Valizas/Cabo Polonio. According to the Tres Cruces website, they only take you to Valizas from Montevideo (as well as Chuy and Rocha, if my memory serves me correctly.) Do I have any other options than to backtrack to Montevideo?

| Montevideo | Safety & Nice Walking Areas - Montevideo Posted: Tue April 8, 2008 10:37 AM UTC
Hey all - I'm in the process of planning a trip to Montevideo and I'd just like some extra information on safety there..e.g. how safe is it to walk with a camera in parts of the city...what areas to avoid...what areas not to miss.
Also, what are some areas where it's nice to just walk for a while and enjoy the weather, and are there any possible side trips from Motevideo besides Colonia that are worth checking out? Any information would be helpful - thanks!! |

| Uruguay | What's going on in Uruguay in April? Posted: Sun March 2, 2008 10:54 PM UTC
I'm planning a trip to Uruguay in April. I found the best way to get there is thru B.A. so I will spend 1 week there, I've got an apt. already, & then onto Colonia via ferry. I plan to spend 2 days there & then to Montevideo for a few more days. I have tentatively rented a house in La Barra for about 10 days. I would like to take some day(s) trips from there, but I'm not quite sure where. Chuy, Laguna Merin, Artigas? Maybe Agua Dulce. The problem is that I'm hearing everything is without life in this area at this time. I've heard that most of the resturante, museums clubs, basdically everything is closed. Is this true? I'm not sure of the source that I heard this so I'd like some other input. And is it safe to travel alone like this as a woman.I thought I might rent a car out of colonia or Montevideo & travel north to salto & the hot h2o. What are my options? Should I stay longer in B.A. &/or take a side trip down to Mar del Plata? What is there to do there? And finally will it be raining alot, & generally, what can I expect for temps? Thanks very much, "Goneto"

| Colonia del Sacramento | Trying to find phone number for an art store Posted: Wed January 30, 2008 04:41 PM UTC
Hi All -
I was in Colonia del Sacremento last week - awesome town. I was looking through some of the stores and came upon a painting that I fell in love with. I went down the street to mull the purchase and get a drink and when I got back to the store it was closed for the afternoon and I had to catch the ferry back to Buenos Aires. I would like to call or email the store in regards to the painting but can't find it on the net. It is called Taller Acosta and is located in the Plaza Mayor. ANY help is greatly appreciated. |

| Montevideo | Travel Montevideo to Igauzu or Buenes Aires Posted: Fri January 4, 2008 03:57 PM UTC
Hi,
I'll be in Rio in October and plan to travel to Iguazu then onto Montevideo and along the coast to BA from there BUT the reviews of the bus journey from Foz de Igauzu to Montevideo are less than compelling. Can anyone suggest a better way of doing this? After BA we plan to head up to Bolivia and that seems best from Buenes Aires, so would Rio to BA to Igauzu to Montevideo be less hassle. I'm not fussed bussing/planes, whatever is the best value for less hassle!! Thanks much, Gav |
