I will be in Finland from 13-15 Sep and am interested to see and photography the northern lights. Where is the best location in Rovaniemi for that and can those lights be visible on that dates?

There are so many companies offering a snow-safari based activity - which one is the best value for money? Three of us are travelling to Rovaniemi in 2 weeks for a few days.

I am going to get the train from Mikkeli to Rovaniemi in Jan 2008.

1) Is there any daynigth in Jan?
2) is the train station in the town
3)Can you get loacl buses to see parts of lapland
4)Nth lights, I love to see them
5) any nice (not expensive) B&B's

I am planning to go to Rovaniemi and Helsinki during Christmas. I would like to know how many days I should spend in these two places.
Besides, I discovered that there is no night train from Rovaniemi to Helsinki on 24 Dec, does anyone know whether there are other means of transport that go from Rovaniemi to Helsinki on 24 Dec night?

My wife and another couple are visiting Rovaniemi in March. We intend to take different safaris, husky, reindeer, Santa Claus etc., during our six day stay, but we were wondering what to do during the other hours of the day as they only last for a few hours. This is my third visit to Rovaniemi (both previous visits during November)and I did not mind the cold weather, even though I used to go about only in my suit, as it was a business trip. But my wife and the other couple are a bit worried regarding the clothes they should wear. It would be appreciated if advice on the best clothing to wear is forwarded.

I am travelling to Rovaniemi next week (having left Australia some two months ago) and although I have several woolen jumpers, fleece etc with me I am now concerned about how cold it could get. I would like to take the train up from Helsinki overnight, spend one or two nights in Rovaniemi and then take either the day or overnight train back to Helsinki.

Any advice on how cold it COULD get, good (but not too expensive) hotels, things to do/see would be very much appreciated.

I'm planning a trip to Rovaniemi this winter. I'm want to travel to helsinki and then to Rovaniemi. When in Rovaniemi I would like to join for a huskytrip (1 or 2 days) I've visited a few webpage's but they all say : at least 2 persons. Can I take a trip as a single person ? Can please somebody give me an answer or help on this problem.

I'm planning to go to Rovaniemi for just 1 day on May 9th. I would arrive early in the morning by plane from Helsinki and depart late in the evening. I was wondering ... what kind of things shall I do there? Any interesting visits apart from Santa Claus park and the Arktic? How shall I make it to reach all those places? And from the airport to town? Any comments and help will be really welcome

I'm travelling to Rovaniemi next week.
My flight (Ryanair) will arrive at Tampere on 18th March at 2140.
I'm thinking of catching the train at 2220 to Rovaniemi. (next train timing is at 0003) Is that possible?

How far away is Tampere airport from the train station? Is there any direct transport that can get me there fast?

I would like to know the following

1) The places I could visit in Rovaniemi best utilizing my time there.

2) The things I should do in Saariselka (Winter activities).

3) Essentials(must carry items) to be packed in the bag.

I'm getting very worried. I'v been checking the weather reports for Rovaniemi, and the snow seems very hit and miss. We're going on 22nd Dec for one day, and i've promised by kids (probably naively) that there will be loads of snow. Can anyone out there make me feel better and let me know if the white stuff is likely to make an appearance by then.

My family and me will stay in Rovaniemi for a week by the end of february. We do snowmobile safari and i know we shall get equipment there. still - i need to know what kind of cloth i should bring with me (what fabrique, how many layers, what boots etc.) Can anyone help me with this info?

At this stage, my research shows that I would have to fly back down to Helsinki and get a cruise...is there a direct flight perhaps?

I'm actually in stockohlm and would like to go to Rovaniemi at the end of december. I found a cheap way to go there (boat from stockholm to helsinki then flight to rovaniemi). Then I'd like to come back to stockholm but by visiting Kiruna and some other cities on the east cost. I guess I can do it by train, don't I?The main problem is to go from rovaniemi to kiruna.Is it possible by train or by bus?If it is the case, where can I find a website in english to have an idea on the prices and on the timetables?

we are going to lapland on december the 3rd is it usually snowing there at that time of year?

I would like to rent a cottage in the surrounding area of Rovaniemi,in the arctic circle. I would like a tipycal finnish cottage, wood cottage, next to a lake or the river, and we don´t want a cottage in a holiday complex. We are going to be in Rovaniemi from 22 to 29 of July.
Can anyone help??? Where can I look for???

I am planning a trip from northern Norway to Rovaniemi in July. Can I use a train from Bodo or do I have to use a bus? How long is a journey and how much does it cost? I will be travelling with a Scandi Rail Pass.

I am planning on a backpacking through Sandinavia, so I need to know if there are cheap hostels in Rovaniemi or is there cheap homestays there. I also would like to know if the weather is cold in July in the actic, or is sweater sufficient.

I hope someone can help me plan this..:)
