Greetings to all
2 years ago during the Christmas season in Regensberg, my wife and I were lucky enough to see during a large celebration downtown a parade of more than a dozen large scary monster like creatures interacting with the crowd. In fact my wife was grabbed by one but I did not get a picture. I understand they have historical significance and are part of the Norse/Germanic pagan culture. Possibly pertaining to the onset of Ragnarok? Can anyone tell me what they are called and point me in the right direction to learn more
Thanks

We'll be in GaP in December, and wondered what our alternatives to renting a car to get to Ettal might be. We'd like to head up that way for dinner one evening, but I'm not sure whether buses regularly service that route, and if they do, how late they run.
My husband and I are travelling to Cologne for him to receive stem cell treatment for motor neuron disease. We are flying in and out of Frankfurt from Australia and will need a private transfer in a vehicle that has a wheelchair lift. It is very urgent that I find this information as we are due to arrive on 20 November.
Can anyone put me in touch with a service that can accommodate this request???
Hello Everyone, my family and I are traveling to Munich, arriving on Christmas Eve. Can anyone recommend what to do on Christmas day in Munich. Looks like many businesses will be closed and tours are not available. Are there church service that we can attend? Suggestions would be most welcome.
Can anyone please let me know if they have been to fussen in the winter and if so is it sensible to hire a car or is it impossible to drive ? Also would I need winter tyres. Has anyone travelled from memmingen to fussen by bus or train and if so was it a night mare with luggage and family ?
What is Munich like duing the last two days of Ocktoberfest, and the day or two after?
I'll be doing business in Germany in October. I'm not a beer drinker, nor am I partial to polkas, so I consider Octoberfest to be a bit of an impediment, not an opportunity. Unfortunately the only times that we could fit in a visit to Munich would be a day or two after or a day or two before the end.
Are hotel prices still rediculously high? Are they still crowded? Do visitors vacate the city immediately? Or do they start leaving before the end?
Thanks,
HB

Hey Folks--We are planning a week's stay in the Garmisch area next June and are trying to decide if we need to rent an apartment in Garmisch for a week or stay at Edelweiss Lodge (husband is retied military). Any opinions on this? Also trying to decide if we need to rent a car for the week (flying into Munich) or will the trains and buses be sufficient for transportation and sightseeing. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hello everyone,
There are a lot of questions about train passes here and about which tickets are good for which zone... I figured i'd throw mine in too...
I'm staying at Four points by Sheraton Munchen Olympiapark located at Helene-Mayer-Ring 12. I plan to attend the festivities at Oktoberfest and then also take side trips to Neuschwanstein Castle and also to Dachau.
Would it be cost efficient to get a 2 day pass for zones 1-3, 1-6 or just by point to point tickets?
Hi Will be in Munich for 3 days in December with my girlfreind.
Arriving Saturday morning, depart 9ish Monday night.
Any tips on what to see and do in Munich, was hoping to get to a Game Bayern play the day I arrive but I believe my chances of tickets are slim to none.
I also want to visit Neuschwanstein castle on the sunday if anyone can recomend a tour company or how to do it on public transport. i cant stop over as our hotel is paid for in Munich. Also want any recomendations on a decent night spot for a pair of 28 year olds.
Please help an uneducated englishman thats only knowledge of Munich is Oktoberfest and Bayern Munich.
years ago sometimes the train coming to rome from outside italy was longer than the platform at the large station in rome. people could pick up their things and move forward until they came to car that was next to the platform and exit. or exit the door of their car and walk on the rocks the length of maybe several cars until they got to the platform.
does this sometimes occur at munich or any place else in germany or europe that you know of.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help I received here. My trip to Munich was fantastic and it wouldn't have been if it weren't for the help I received here.

I am going to be driving from the center of Munich to Dinkelsbuhl and Rothenburg ob der Tauber. I can follow Autobahn 8 and then Autobahn 7 north. The shorter route would be to take Autobahn 8 to Augsburg, and then take Route 2 north and then route 25. I am not sure how much traffic I can expect on the autobahn, and which route would be faster. Any thoughts?
Help! We'll be driving from Garmisch on a Thursday morning to the Munich airport (flight leaves at 1150). I'm wondering what time we should leave Garmisch in order to get to the airport on time? I've read about the traffic problems in/around Munich and don't want to be more stressed than necessary. Any help would be greatly appreciated...P.S. This is my first visit to a forum, so I hope I know what I'm doing....:>)
