To Eurocity for Christmas, low cost?

Tervehdys / goddagens,

I'm trying to get from Rome to Eurocity (Tornio / Haparanda) just before Christmas. I am a bit tight on budget, and can't seem to find any way to get there and back with less than 12h journey OR 250 euros return from either Stockholm or Helsinki. As a comparison, I can get from Rome to Helsinki for 290 euros and from Rome to Stockholm for 160 euros.

Is anyone aware of a good way to get there in a relatively short time and without having to ask for a loan extension?

Tornio
Oulu to Tornio?

Hi chaps,
I'm scheduled to land in Oulu on a July Sunday around 8 pm, and want to spend the night in Tornio. Is there any direct bus service from Oulu to Tornio or is it better to catch a train to Kemi and then go on by bus?
