June or October/November to visit? Posted: Sun September 20, 2009 02:41 PM UTC
I know that October is probably the best time to visit Jiuzhaigou the autumn foliage making it even more beautiful but the thoughts of the crowds is rather intimidating and i want to take photographs can be hard with people pushing around.
So i thought of compromising maybe in June or Early November (is that still the super peak?)
Any opinions 1 way or the other? Appreciate the inputs.
Thank you.

Entrance Ticket Posted: Mon August 10, 2009 09:06 AM UTC
It costs 220yuan for a single entry but with student card you got 50yuan less. Has another used the International Student Card for buying a ticket? I just wonder if they recognize this card. thanks.

Staying with a family in the park? Posted: Sat October 11, 2008 04:54 AM UTC
Hi there,
We're going to Jiuzhaigou at the end of October and wanted to stay 1-2 nights with a family in the park.
Has anyone tried this recently? I know it's not technically allowed but I heard that the authorities will tolerate it for very small groups (1-2 people).
Also, should we spend 2 or 3 full days in the park?
Thanks in advance for answers!

How's the food tastes? Posted: Fri October 3, 2008 10:41 AM UTC
I forget to ask this in my first question:
how's the food tastes in Jiuzhaigou? Should I bring some 'home flavored' food, just in case I dislike the taste (local food and Chinese restaurants)?

Is it already snowing in October? Posted: Fri October 3, 2008 04:42 AM UTC
Hi, this is my first post. I'm interested in visiting Jiuzhaigou, particularly in October as many people said it's best to view the scenery during autumn.
However, my father concerns about the weather, and wonders whether it's already snowing in October in Jiuzhaigou?

Jiuzhaigou - Earthquake effects Posted: Thu May 15, 2008 03:42 AM UTC
The roads from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou are blocked due to the earthquake of 12th May 2008 and are expected to remain that way for some time. The best way to get to Jiuzhaigou is to fly although the government has warned against any unnecessary travel to the whole region for the moment.
Jiuzhaigou did not experience any significant damage during the earthquake. No hotels or businesses appear to have been damaged. Mobile phone and internet connections are still working but some remain cut off from electricity at the moment. Many businesses have generators however.
Inside Jiuzhaigou National Park there have been no rock slides or land slips. Rocks did fall from the cliffs during the big earthquake but no injuries or significant damage have been reported.
The scenery in the park is spectacular at the moment. All the trees are green, wild flowers are in bloom and the sun is shining. I suggest contacting the park and/or your travel agent for latest reports on Jiuzhaigou.

Nature Park Posted: Sun May 11, 2008 01:00 PM UTC
We are hoping to go to the Jiuzhaigou Nature Park early next month. What is the best way to get there from Guangzhou? We have about 5 days spare on our business trip to visit this area. As we do not speak Chinese do you think it would be best to book through a travel agent. Also we live near the beach, will we need to take altitude sickness medication with us?
Thanks heaps.

Juizhaigou in March Posted: Tue January 8, 2008 11:05 PM UTC
Hello
I am travelling through China in February and March, and my friend desperately wants to see Juizhaigou. However, I'm worried about the weather conditions, especially snow and ice. Is it safe to go to Juizhaigou at this time? Would it be better to go at the beginning of the trip in February, or save it closer to the end in mid-March? Also, is the scenery at this time worth the trip??
Thanks for your help!!

Sheraton Jiuzhaigou Posted: Sun November 4, 2007 07:21 AM UTC
I'm planning a trip to Jiuzhaigou in April. I tried to reserve a room at the Sheraton from their website but its telling me that no rooms are available. I find that hard to believe. Is it too early to try and reserve something for April? Any recommendations for an alternate hotel? I'm arriving midday. From the airport is it recommended that we drive to Huang Long before checking in? We reserved two full days for tour of Jiuzhaigou park...too long, too short?

Jiuzhaigou Park - Buying Ticket in Advance Posted: Wed September 12, 2007 05:13 AM UTC
We will be in Jiuzhaigou in late October 2007 (next month Yah!). Is there anyway to purchase the park tickets directly from the park, prior to our visit.
My concern is that I have heard that Jiuzhaigou Park is already sold out for National Day Week, and I would hate to get all the way to the park and find out its sold out.
Anyone know if the park ticket can be purchased in advance? (we are not on a tour)
Thanks in advance!

Planning itinerary Posted: Wed July 18, 2007 05:54 AM UTC
Hello,
Grateful if anyone could advise on how I should go about in planning my itinerary with the following info :-
1. Would be starting my journey from Macau. ( Oct / Nov )
2. Plan to travel to Chendu before embarking to Jiuzhaigou.
My questions are :-
1. The easiest, faster & cheapest way to Chendu from Macau or Hong Kong ?
2. Which are the easiest & cheaper way of securing domestic flights in China ? Local travel agent or in the airport itself ?
3. The minimum number of days that needed to cover from Chendu to Jiuzhaigou ?
Tks a lot !

Need your advices for trip to Jiuzhaigou - Oct.2007 Posted: Tue May 8, 2007 10:50 AM UTC
Hi all,
We are planning to go to Jiuzhaigou at 16.10.07, and I have many wonders :
+ Is it difficult to buy entrance ticket at that time-I afraid it's too crowded, may we buy the ticket in advance and ask the hostel to do this service?
+ May we buy ticket for 2 days, we would like to stay there in 2 days?
+ Can we stay in the park at night?
+ We would like to take a bus or renting minivan/taxi from Jiuzhaigou to Langmusi then go to Xining, there are any travel agency can arrange that.
+ Finally, how crowded in the park at that time, and how to avoid that crowd.
Thank you very much for your advices.
Your help was highly appreciated.

Wolong to Jiuzhaigou? Posted: Tue May 8, 2007 09:09 AM UTC
Hi,
Is it possible to take a bus from Chengdu to Wolong to see the Pandas, and then continue to Jiuzhaigou and then back to Chengdu? Or in the other direction?
I read that there is places to stay over night inside the park. How do I find these places? Are they far into the park?
Greatful for all useful tips!

first time travellers to jiu zhai gou... lotsa questions! Posted: Sun April 29, 2007 11:03 AM UTC
my friends and i are planning a trip to jiu zhai gou around early september... (we've been trying to plan this for years... hopefully we'll push through this year!)
soooo... is september a good time to be there? e.g. how's the scenery that time? will it be too crowded? what's the weather like by then?
we'll probably just have 4 days off and we won't be joining packaged tours so any recommendations in terms of hotels, itinerary, travel tips, etc. will be very appreciated :)
by the way... how far is huanglong? will we have enough time to squeeze it in our sched?
thanks!

Jiuzhaigou Itinerary Posted: Sat April 21, 2007 06:43 PM UTC
Do you guys think this is possible or too rush?
D1 - Xian to Mainyang (night train)
D2 - Mainyang bus to Jiuzhaigou (morn)
D3 - Jiuzhaigou
D4 - Jiuzhaigou to Songpan to Huanglong
D5 - Duijangyan to Chengdu to Leshan
Will I have time for a quick horse tour in Songpan and still visit Huanglong?
Maybe I should bus to Songpan at night on D3? It doesnt make sense to travel to Chengdu and then take another 10hr bus ride back up to Jiuzhaigou. I heard you can bus from Mainyang or Jianyou. How long is the bus ride to Jiuzhaigou from Mainyang?
Thanks for any help.

Internal Shuttle Bus / Accomodation Posted: Thu March 29, 2007 06:40 AM UTC
Hi everyone
I am going to JiuZhaiGou on a group tour during 2nd week of April. Can anyone tell me about the Internal Shuttle Bus? Is the name "Huan Bao Che"?
Tour Agent says that we must pay to use the Huan Bao Che. Does he mean that we charter an Internal Shuttle Bus that will go wherever we want? Is that type of bus the same as the Internal Public Bus (both= Huan Bao Che), only that it's available for charter?
I am going with an elderly person (75 yrs old). Is the distance between each scenic spot very far? Like 2 - 3 KM or only 200 m each?
We are going to stay at JiuZhaiGou Paradise Hotel (Jiu Zai Tian Tang). Is it very far from the park itself?
Thanks a lot and appreciate ur help.

Jiuzhaigou during May Holidays Posted: Thu March 8, 2007 10:14 AM UTC
I'm planning on visiting Jiuzhaigou during the week long break in May 07.
Was thinking that although its during the nationwide holiday period, but its not the peak tourism season ( which is in Sept / Oct ) , so it should not be too crowded.
Can anyone tell me if :
1) sights and scenery during 1st - 7th May : is it worth the trip? I know its not as good as Sept / Oct but I cant make it during that time.
2) weather during 1st week of May
3) crowd situation during 1st week of May ? Is it crowded?
Thanks

Hi...hope someone could advise on the following :-
1. Someone was telling me that Jiuzhaigou would be closed sometimes in year 2007 ( may be the whole year ) for preservation of the park? Is that true ?
2. If I'm travelling from Macau, where would be the most economical way of travelling by plane to Chendu ? e.g from Macau/Beijing/Chendu.

Jiuzhaigou in early spring Posted: Sat November 18, 2006 12:26 AM UTC
Hi there, I am intending to visit Jiuzhaigou in April sometime in the 1st week of April - I know that there is little rain at that time of the year but are the lakes all still frozen and is there still snow lying around? I was thinking of visiting during summer where it is all green in late august but I heard it is very rainy? Any suggestions? Lastly, I got quotes for flights to and fro chengdu and jiuzhaigou and it comes up to 2100RMB per person for a return flight even on elong.net - is that reasonable? thanks!

Jiuzhaigou Internal Shuttle Bus Frequency Posted: Fri November 10, 2006 03:35 AM UTC
How frequent are the shuttle bus that runs within the Jiuzhaigou Park?
At the tour group briefing, we were told to pay to charter an exclusive bus for our tour group and each of us have to pay about 200 or 250 yuan. Is the price reasonable?
