Sint Maarten Boat

Hi, I am traveling to St M. next week. Wondering if anyone knows of a place where a small boat could be rented. Row boat size with a motor, just for taking little trips...

Sint Maarten Best Beach
Posted: Mon June 29, 2009 02:42 PM UTC
Hi,

I am cruising with my husband, brother, sister-in-law and grown nieces at the end of May. I want to plan a great beach day for them as they have never been to the Caribbean. I am looking for a quiet, uncrowded beach (isn't evyerbody!)
but one that has facilities, as we will need umbrellas and a bathroom.

I was leaning toward Friars Bay. Is that a good choice? Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sint Maarten Flamingo Beach Resort - Simpson Bay
Posted: Tue June 9, 2009 02:21 PM UTC
You stated that the rooms looked dated. Are the rooms clean, do they all have balconies? I am in a Studio. Is there a better or safer part of the resort to stay? I understand that one area of guest quarters is fenced in and is safer than the guest quarters outside of the fenced area, and that there is a steep hill to walk if you can not get parking and/or guest quarters inside of the fenced area (may not be to safe at night). What light can you shine on that for me? Also, do you know the directions to Orient Beach, no locals seem to be able to direct me there before. I stayed at the Pelican one year, it was very nice. Also, I stayed at Cupecoy which was very nice, but did not have a nice beach. I am traveling next week, your info would be very helpful. The person that I received the info on about Famingo Beach Resort was not absoulutely sure, it was from a third party.

Sint Maarten Weather at night in August
Posted: Thu August 14, 2008 04:24 PM UTC
What is the weather at night in Sint Maarten in August?
I mean... I can read all the weather web sites with all the digits and stuff but really...
DO YOU NEED a long sleeve shirt for late night lounging at the open air restaurant?
Is it hot all night long or do you get a colder winds after the sunset?

Are the mosquitos present at the sunset/night?

Thanks

Sint Maarten Travelling alone st martin
Posted: Sat January 19, 2008 01:49 AM UTC
Hi
I am having 3 days in Saint Martin travelling on my own. My plan is to hire a car for 2 day and explore. Does anyone have any advice on the best/cheapest people to hire from, or nice places to stay?

Also I wanted advice from people who've been there as to how safe I am going out after dark on my own, not to paty, but see the towns at night and have dinner etc. Just a bit more wary as I am a single female.

Thanks for your help

Sint Maarten Hotel Advice
Posted: Sat December 1, 2007 09:13 PM UTC
Our family of 6 (including 4 young adults) are looking at going to St. Maarten. My husband and I visited for one day while we were on a cruise and fell in love with the Island. We would like to stay for 2 weeks and would like to be on (or close to a beautiful beach of course). Our children also want to be close to restaurants, shopping, nightlife etc. What would be the best area to please everyone? Also do you recommend the French or Dutch side of the Island to stay?

Thanks for the advice everyone,
Carol.

Sint Maarten Beach Question
Posted: Wed November 28, 2007 07:31 PM UTC
We have booked our flights for a holiday in April and have narrowed down our accomodation choices to a few private beach villas. We have an infant and young son so we don't want to be on a beach with strong waves. Our choices are Simpson Bay, Nettle Beach; Guana Bay; or Dawn Beach. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Sint Maarten Swimming with dolphins
Posted: Tue June 5, 2007 07:16 AM UTC
I'm taking a cruise that's stopping in St. Maarten, and would love to swim with dolphins while I'm there. Does anybody have any suggestions or reccommendations for a particular company? The cruise ship offers a dolphin swim as one of their island excursions, but I want to check out all my options before signing up with them. Thanks much!

Sint Maarten To Do in St Maarten? - Dawns Beach Area
Posted: Fri April 27, 2007 02:04 AM UTC
Will be in St Maarten's in late May - Dawns Beach Area.

Besides the beach, what is there to do there? Saw the posts on casinos but that is not my cup of tea. I like places to walk and people watch. Would appreciate any thoughts.

Also somone mentioned renting a car for the week. Any special considerations regarding insurance- liability etc

Thanks/ LMc

Sint Maarten Maho Beach Resoirt vs Great Bay Resort
Posted: Sat January 27, 2007 05:16 PM UTC
We are a group of 20-somethings looking to come to the Island in October. We are trying to figure out which of these two resorts is better.

Difference in the food?
Nightlife?
Beaches?
Is the Maho Beach noisy because it's so close to the airport?

Advice/recommendations/etc are great, thanks for the help!

Sint Maarten Island Tour Sint Maarten / Saint Martin
Posted: Tue December 26, 2006 01:38 AM UTC
I am looking for a small company at Sint Maarten who provides kind of a V.I.P. service for up to 6 passengers. Me and 5 friends like a daytour. We are not satisfied with a 3 hour tour! $45 per passenger for a 3 hour tour is way to much! I will be on cruise ship again in February 2007 and for the first time in Sint Maarten.
At my last cruise, I never had a chance to swim in the ocean. This time I like to swim and walk through the jungle. I appreciate any help so I can make a reservation in advance!

I am trying to arrange transportation for a group of 15 arriving on a cruise ship in Philipsburg. I have found a tour company in Simpson Bay but I have to get them to Simpson from the cruise ship port. Any ideas?

Perhaps you know of a tour company in Philipsburg that could accomodate this group with a tour.

Sint Maarten Question about Cell Phones
Posted: Mon May 1, 2006 09:26 AM UTC
Hi. I live in NY and I currently have a cell phone with Verizon service. I was told by Verizon that I would not be able to use my cell phone while vacationing in St Maarten since it is not on a digital network. Is there a way for me to rent a cell phone for use while I am away for that one week? I need to keep in contact with my family in the U.S. while I am on vacation, but I do not need the phone for daily use. There are certain things that I need to check on while I am gone, and it would best be done by phone. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Sint Maarten Dutch Side vs French Side
Posted: Tue March 28, 2006 07:25 PM UTC
My girlfriend and I are planning a 5-day trip to St Maarten this May but we can't seem to agree on which side of the island to stay on....

I say the Dutch side is better since it seems that's where most of the casinos and clubs are located. Plus there's cheap shopping there for her to do...

She thinks the French side is better since the beaches are nicer, it's less crowded and there's better shopping to be done there...

I was looking into staying at the Maho Beach Resort since it has a casino, nightclub and an all-inclusive plan. I'm not sure where my gf wants to stay (most likely near Orient Beach)....

Which side has the better restaurants, the better casinos and the kickin' nightclubs? I'm sure we'll be seeing both sides of the island during our stay. I just want to have a place to stay that's near all the things we want to enjoy... especially at night?

Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated....

Sint Maarten singles scene

Most of the Carribean attracts couples, honeymooners, etc. What is the singles scene like in St. Maarten? Is it better on the Dutch or French side? I'm planning a weekend trip (3/25-3/27) and wanted some insight. Thanks.
