Does anyone have any recommendations for a 2 week itinerary for these 3 islands? Can any of the 3 be skipped? Best food, snorkeling? Affordable accomodations?

I am hoping to visit Sint Maarten some time in the near future. I would like to rent out a villa and I would like to know the best neighborhoods on both sides of the island. I'm talking safety, not worried about shopping or nightlife, I csn drive to that.

Hi all! My wife and I will need to get from St. Bart's to St. Maarten on Sunday, April 3 to catch a 4:20pm flight back to the states. What's the best/most cost effective way to travel between the islands that would allow us to make our flight? Thanks!

I understand there are 3 hotel facilities that use the Westin Dawn Beach address. Can someone give me advice as to which has the better rooms and locations? Does one have better access to the French side and are the facilities and rooms as nice as the others?

Hello! Checking to see whether anyone has stayed at Holland House on Sint Maarten? I am looking for potential places to stay prior to getting on a dive boat next May 2011.
Thanks!

We are 4 adults using a timeshare, so we are limited to our choices of resort as well as the dates.
Here is what I've narrowed it down to, based on our only options thru RCI:
* The Towers at Mullet Bay
* Pelican Resort Club
* The Ocean Club Villas
We are hoping for a good, centralized location, 5-10 minutes from some bars & restaurants, nice beach access, and someplace that will NOT be filled with a bunch of screaming kids.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!!!

My wife and I are making our first trip to the island. We have never been to a clothing optional beach and would like to find a quite peaceful beach that we can visit. My wife would prefer that the beach is not crowded. I heard there are a few beaches on Sint Maarten that are not easily accessible. Are these beaches safe to visit. Is there a need to worry about traveling the paths to these beaches? What is the best way to access these beaches?

I know that this is the closest airport to the beach in the world, so it would be a shame to spend a 4 hour layover inside the terminal instead of at the beach. Unfortunately, I will have a suitcase with me, so it may not be so easy to go to the beach. Does anyone know if the airport has lockers or some sort of storage area? Will I have time/be able to go to the beach during my 4 hour layover?
Thanks in advance!

Ill be staying there in the little bay area. How far are the fun things to do, nightlife, casino, etc? Can anyone recommend places to eat around that area? I had also thought about car rental, good idea or just use taxis? Ill be there for a week, so plenty of time to get around. Thanks for any help.

Hi, I am traveling to St M. next week. Wondering if anyone knows of a place where a small boat could be rented. Row boat size with a motor, just for taking little trips...

Hi,
I am cruising with my husband, brother, sister-in-law and grown nieces at the end of May. I want to plan a great beach day for them as they have never been to the Caribbean. I am looking for a quiet, uncrowded beach (isn't evyerbody!)
but one that has facilities, as we will need umbrellas and a bathroom.
I was leaning toward Friars Bay. Is that a good choice? Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You stated that the rooms looked dated. Are the rooms clean, do they all have balconies? I am in a Studio. Is there a better or safer part of the resort to stay? I understand that one area of guest quarters is fenced in and is safer than the guest quarters outside of the fenced area, and that there is a steep hill to walk if you can not get parking and/or guest quarters inside of the fenced area (may not be to safe at night). What light can you shine on that for me? Also, do you know the directions to Orient Beach, no locals seem to be able to direct me there before. I stayed at the Pelican one year, it was very nice. Also, I stayed at Cupecoy which was very nice, but did not have a nice beach. I am traveling next week, your info would be very helpful. The person that I received the info on about Famingo Beach Resort was not absoulutely sure, it was from a third party.

What is the weather at night in Sint Maarten in August?
I mean... I can read all the weather web sites with all the digits and stuff but really...
DO YOU NEED a long sleeve shirt for late night lounging at the open air restaurant?
Is it hot all night long or do you get a colder winds after the sunset?
Are the mosquitos present at the sunset/night?
Thanks

Hi
I am having 3 days in Saint Martin travelling on my own. My plan is to hire a car for 2 day and explore. Does anyone have any advice on the best/cheapest people to hire from, or nice places to stay?
Also I wanted advice from people who've been there as to how safe I am going out after dark on my own, not to paty, but see the towns at night and have dinner etc. Just a bit more wary as I am a single female.
Thanks for your help
Alison

Our family of 6 (including 4 young adults) are looking at going to St. Maarten. My husband and I visited for one day while we were on a cruise and fell in love with the Island. We would like to stay for 2 weeks and would like to be on (or close to a beautiful beach of course). Our children also want to be close to restaurants, shopping, nightlife etc. What would be the best area to please everyone? Also do you recommend the French or Dutch side of the Island to stay?
Thanks for the advice everyone,
Carol.

We have booked our flights for a holiday in April and have narrowed down our accomodation choices to a few private beach villas. We have an infant and young son so we don't want to be on a beach with strong waves. Our choices are Simpson Bay, Nettle Beach; Guana Bay; or Dawn Beach. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
