I would like to know how to get from Dinard airport to Mont St. Michel without having to drive. Is it possible to get there by bus or train?

We are planning to visit Mont St. Michel. I have read that there are lot of steps and stairs to climb in order to see the town and the Abbey. Is there any elevator or ramp for handicap people? How many steps are involved ?

I've been trying to locate any bus websites which would provide me some assurances that there are buses available for a journey from Rouen to Mont St Michel. I will be staying a few days in Rouen and would like to avoid taking the train back to Paris to connect to Mont St Michel.

Any advice on websites where they provide a bus service direct from Rouen to Mont St Michel would be appreciated.

Does anyone know how to get from London to Mont Saint Michel. I will not have a car and plan on spending the night before going on to Paris. I will be traveling June 14.

Does anybody know how frequently the buses run from Rennes to Mont Saint Michel. I know they tend to wait for the TGV to arrive, but do they run after each TGV, in between etc? Do the schedules change during summer (I'm planning to go in mid August)

Any information about the schedule would be welcome.

Does anyone "in the know" have any knowledge of or stay in any upscaled hotels rooms of the 3 hotels ON the island? some of the rooms look pretty seedy and wondering if anyone knew of any better rooms (obviously at additional cost) that might - or not - be available.

also anyone know of any flats that locals rent out ON the island?

Please help! My husband and I have two days and one night to travel from Paris via car to Mont St. Michel and Back.
We plan on spending the night at a hotel on Mont St. Michel and wish to see the D-day beaches, Honfleur and maybe the WWII museum in Caen at a minimum.
Please tell me if this is completely unrealistic of an itinerary or if you'd omit something- what would you omit: Giverny? Rouen? WWII Museum?:
Day One:
Rent car in am from Paris
Optional stop in Rouen (is it worth it given the time factor?)
Or.. optional stop in Honfeur or Deuville?
Stop in Caen to see WWII museum
Drive to Mont St-Michel for dinner and spend the night
Day Two:
Visit Bayeux
Visit D-Day beaches
Stop in Deauville, Hongleiur and Trouville
Stop in Giverny on the way back to Paris?
Drive back to Paris

Hi people, I am going with a group of teachers in the beginning of June to Paris and from there to Rouen for 4 days. We would like to visit Mont Saint-Michel. What would be the best way of reaching there from Rouen? We want it to be a day trip and wish to return back to Rouen. Is that possible in one day?

and any recommendations for best place to stay. All the hotels in Pontorson got bad reviews from almost everyone regarding service. So now I have decide to stay in Mont st michel. Also is it really hot July August?

I will be ariving in Le Havre on Sunday May 10th on the Emerald Princess for one day. The arrival time is 7:0 a.m. and departure time is 8:00 p.m.. I need to know if there is any viable public or private transportation options that won't cost me an arm and a leg. It seems that the rental car companies are closed on Sunday so renting a car does not look like a good option. I have not been able to find a train schedule that will work and I have had trouble finding bus schedules on the web. Please let me know if you have any ideas on how to accomplish this.

Does anyone have a (working) link to the bus company that goes from Pontorson to MSM? The link for LesCourriersBretons is not working. I need to know the times they leave from the train station to MSM & how long of a ride is it. The latest info I could find on VT in the travel pages lists times for the year 2006. Thanks!

I am interested in visiting MSM in early April and photographing the site during both the high tide and the low tide (just like all the famous photographs you see on websites only it's going to be me doing the picture taking!). So: if there are any photo-enthusiasts who have shot MSM from the angles I've seen, may I ask for some suggestions and can I get it done in 1 overnigt trip (staying in one of the outer-hotels listed on the MSM site) or should I plan for a 2 nighter and take my time? I am also having trouble understanding the tide system--is it high in the day or night? I don't live near water, sorry! At low tide, I want to walk out across the bay and photograph MSM in sunset, sunrise, etc. I don't mind getting mucky to get a good photograph...

Hubby and I will not arrive at MSM till about 7 pm in early September. What will be open at that time? And do they keep some sort of street lights on so you can walk around in the evening?

We plan to travel through Bass- Normandy for 4 days. First night we plan to stay near Mont St. Michel comoing from Paris. Can you suggest what to see on our way from Paris and then another 3 days going back to Paris on the forth day.Like your help on what to visit and where to stay on our way.

I am planning to go from Mt St Michel/Pontorson to St Malo around noon-2pm. I know the http://www.lescourriersbretons.fr site but they only have one bus in the morning and one later in the afternoon. There are also 3 trains but also in the morning and then again after 4pm.
Does anyone know if there are other buses or maybe regional trains that go to St Malo in the middle of the day?

I'll go to france in august and i'd like to stay with my girlfriend for a few days in mt st michel. We were planning to stay 3,5 days in the Loire Valley and 2 days in Mont St MIchel. Do you think that it is enough? How many days I need to see all the atractions and sightseens of Mt St Michel? Late august (21-23th) is still crowded? is it unbearable? Can we sleep there (how expensive it'd be?)

I need your help. I plan to visit Mont St Michel in June 2008.

I arrive in Paris on Fri June 27 around 9:30 am. My plan is to hop on the 1:30 or so TGV to Rennes. I should be there around 3:30.

At that point, is it best to take the bus to Mont St. Michel. I'll get there after 5pm? Or would it better for me to stay in Rennes overnight and head to Mont St Michel the next morning?

I am traveling from Paris with a group of students next month and we plan to visit Mont St. Michel on our way to another location in Normandy. What is the best way to store luggage for the day? We'll be coming by TGV train to Rennes & then bus to Mont St. Michel - should we opt for storing it in Rennes or is there somewhere in Mont St. Michel?

We are spending an evening at MSM in late February. What are the business hours for the shops? Do they operate on the same hours as the abbey or will they be open earlier and/or later?

My wife and I will be taking a day trip to Mont-St-Michel on our way to the D-Day beaches. I checked the SNCF website and we can take a train to Rennes from Paris. We then take a bus from Rennes to Mont-St-Michel (I think it is a bus - it says "coach" but it is via the SNCF site). I have two questions:

1. Will there be lockers or storage at the Rennes train station? We will have our baggage with us.

2. How close does the bus get us to the abbey? Will it go up the causeway?

My friends and I are viviting Paris in October and would like to visit mont saint michel, however we will be using public transport, any ideas on how we could get there, thank you Joanne

I'm going to be in London for a week, then France, using Paris as my base. I'd like to figure out the best way to get to Mont St. Michel for a day trip. Would it make more sense to:

1) Take a ferry to the town nearest Mont St. Michel and take the last train to Paris after my visit to the Mont OR
2) Go to Paris, and visit Mont St. Michel the following day

We are staying in a hotel on the island and the directions say to park in lot N 1.
I cant find any map of the parking on St mont michel. I wondered if anyone was familiar with this or have a link to a map.

I will be in London this summer for about 2 months and I was really wanting to visit Mont Saint Michel because I didn't get the chance when I was in Paris. I have no idea how to get there from London. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm coming in to Cherbourg April 11 on an overnight ferry, arrive around noon. The information I've found on trains and buses from Cherbourg to Pontorson seems a little sketchy. Is there a convenient way to travel from Cherbourg to Pontorson/Mont St. Michel that is under 3 hours? I have a eurail pass but don't mind taking a bus if it works better. Ideas?
