Can someone tell me the best time of year for going dolphin and/or whale watching from Paihia please. Also, morning or afternoon trip?

We will be in Auckland for a couple of days before our cruise. Would we be better to take a commercial tour to the Bay of Islands or to hire a car and drive ourselves?

Anyone experience with sailing trips in the bay of islands? We want to do a one day sailing trip- rather a small boat/small group....We is the best place to start?? How much will it be? Thank you for the infomation! |

A gang of us - all schoolmates 20 years ago are planning for a birthday bash with many of us flying in from Australia, New York and some from Asia (like myself) for an overnight Auckland and then on drive to Bay of Islands.
I am looking for tips on whereabout to stay, dine and pamper ourselves. Money issue is secondary; we just wanna have a memorable week together. |
