| Tunis | Driving from Tunis to Djerba? Posted: Wed May 30, 2007 08:03 AM UTC
Hi, is it possible to drive from Tunis to Djerba, or is it better to fly? We are going for 4 days. How are the roads, how long will the trip take, is it easy to rent a car there?
And how is scuba diving in Djerba? |

| Tunis | Tunis and Italy Posted: Thu May 17, 2007 12:30 AM UTC
Hi
I am planning to travel to Italy during Oct and would like to visit Tunis at the same time, due to the close proximity. I have found that Alitalia does travel from Milan to Tunis, but is seems to be quite expensive. Ferries is another alternative but abt 200 Euros I am wondering if there are any cheaper/better alternatives? The places I will be visiting is not an issue as I am able to travel throughout Italy. Thanks |

| Tunis | AIRPORT TUNIS and CHEAP ACCOMODATION in Tunis Posted: Mon May 14, 2007 08:05 AM UTC
Hi, I, my husband and my child (10 years old) are traveling to Tunisia for two weeks in June.
Does anyone know the cost for a taxi from airport to Tunis Medina? or is there public bus service? If so, is there a schedule posted somewhere? We need to find a good, clear, safe & well located (near Medina in Tunis) cheap hotel or hostal for 10-20€ /night. Any advice? Thanks! |

| Tunis | Tunisian culture and society (Bourgiuba) Posted: Tue March 6, 2007 03:00 PM UTC
I'm going to be studing at the Bourguiba Institute in Tunis from October 2007-March 2008. I would like to know what to expect the dormitory rooms to look like. How's the university food? If you've actually attened the Bourguiba Institute, what's the estimated cost of room and board meals? How'd you like studying there?
I am a performance poet and was wondering if there are any poetry or music café's in the area? What do students and the youth do for fun on the weekends? |

| Tunis | Visiting Tunis during December Posted: Thu November 30, 2006 09:01 AM UTC
My husband and I are planning to visit tunis next month from 29.12.06 to 7.1.07, which is also the time for eid adha, but some friends advised us to postpone the visit until summer cause there is nothing to do during this period. Please advise regarding our visit time and what activities we can do? We like a lot to do site seeing and visit ancient cities.

| Tunis | looking for budget accomodation for 2 weeks in January Posted: Thu November 16, 2006 08:55 PM UTC
Hello,
I am a 21 year old (male) student studying in the UK. I am currently working on my undergraduate (BA) thesis on Tunisian politics and am looking to spend two weeks from the 10-24th of January in Tunis to access material in the National Library and the National Archive. I would be very grateful if someone could recommend or offer cheap (no more than 100 Euros a week ideally) accomodation either in hostels, bed and breakfast, or individual arrangements on a more ad-hoc basis. Post here or send me an e-mail: Joshua.Rogers(at)balliol.ox.ac.uk Thank you! |

| Tunis | Looking for an apartment house Posted: Fri September 29, 2006 07:39 PM UTC
I'll stay in Tunis from January to August to study Arabic in Bourguiba Institute. So I'm concerned about accommodation.
I look for an small apartment house with one room, one bathroom, and one kitchen. And I prefer near Bourguiba Institute, but I don't care about location. Then, how much is rental fee monthly? Is 100~200TD enough? I'm looking forward to your kind advice. |

Hello,
Can anyone help me? I have booked a flight from London to Tunis and then have to travel to the Monastir area for my hotel. I need to know how far the journey is between the two cities and if it would be feasable to use a taxi. All of the maps that I can find do not have any distance scales on them. Thanks for any advice sent. |

| Tunis | Food Allergy Posted: Fri June 9, 2006 05:02 AM UTC
My friend and I are going to study at the Bourguiba Institute in Tunis this summer and she is allergic to nuts. It has been difficult finding out if this will be a problem. I have basic communication in Arabic, and she can speak French, but we're worried about not being understood. Does anybody know if this is going to be a problem, or have any suggestions?

| Tunis | Is this really a problem? Posted: Mon June 5, 2006 01:21 PM UTC
I will be in Tunis late this summer and have already made travel reservations to stay at Hotel Africa. I may have a friend stay with me some of the days that I'm in Tunis - This is a male friend- but the room I have booked and paid for two people. Someone told me that it's possible I'll recieve a lot of grief from the hotel staff regarding the fact that we are not married.. Is this really true? I understand that the ways of Tunisia are greatly different than they are in the states, but there was nothing on the booking information about any of this. The hotel only required my name and my credit card information - and said that they may ask to see my passport upon check in. I just want to head off any problems of having someone stay with me before I get there. Has anyone has a similar experience or situation before? Thanks!

We will be in Marrakech, Morroco on Nov 4, 2006 and we would like to get to Tunis, Tunisia by the same date. Air travel is via London, Barcelona or Paris and costs a fortune ($1383 USD).
Is there air travel, train travel or bus travel accross Algeria directly to Tunisia from Morroco? |

| Tunis | Bourguiba Institute Housing Posted: Wed April 12, 2006 11:51 PM UTC
Does anyone know what the dorms (foyer) are like at the Bourguiba institute? Is it worth living there or should I try to find an apartment elsewhere? I'll be doing the summer arabic program with three friends (two guys and a girl) - would it make more economic sense for us to just find a bigger place together? thanks!

Hi, I'm planning on a trip to Tunis in September. If anyone has suggestions for cheap but safe and decent accommodation there, that would be great. Hopefully a suggestion besides a Sheraton, etc. Also, if anyone knows of the best way(cheap flight) to get to Cairo from Tunis. And if there is anything I may need to know to go to Egypt from Tunis. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!:)
