Quito Quito to Cuzco (Return Trip)
Posted: Tue October 27, 2009 01:21 AM UTC
Hi there,

please comment if you have any info on this:

I am traveling in November and December.

Looking to travel Quito To Cuzco. Airlines online are 500$+...

Anyone ever traveled on a charter flight for cheap ? Anyone have connections with travel agents down there ?

Train: Is there a train I can take ? How long is it ? Connections ?

Bus: I heard it takes 2+ days and buses dont show up on time etc.

What is most recommended way of traveling ?

Thanks to everyone that replies.

Quito Meeting gentleman that lives In Quito, traveling from Us
Posted: Fri February 27, 2009 04:23 AM UTC
How safe is for a single female to meet a single male adult from Quito from only internet and phone conversation. I have done much research on the safety issues for women traveling alone and have found most blogs state just be resonable and aware of the surrounds and city rules.

Do they have drug lords that kidnap women and put them into slavery in this area? I understand I will staying right across form the US Emabassy. Just trying to learn a little more about the culture and the possible dangers of such a scenario.

I appreciate any input.

Quito Quito-Otavalo-Banos
Posted: Sun November 9, 2008 12:42 AM UTC
Trying to decide the order of my stay in Ecuador - going in about a month. My flight gets in at 130pm -10 days later my flight leaves Quito at 2pm. I wondering if staying in Quito last would be best due to proximity to airport. The airport is between Quito and Otavalo - so I could go directly from Otavalo to the airport. Read that Banos is about 3 1/2 hours from Quito. I was thinking 2 or 3 nights n Quito - 3 or 4 nights in either Otavalo and/or Banos. Read about the train ride from Riobamba which sound like fun. Mainly want to relax - soak in some thermal springs - hike - ride a horse - visit the churches n Quito - stand on the equator. Any thought about hwo to order my trip? Thanks for your suggestions.

Quito Excellent Internet cafe - Mariscal area?
Posted: Mon July 7, 2008 02:07 AM UTC
Anyone, please recommend an excellent Internet cafe in or around the Mariscal or the neighborhood around the SwissHotel, Av 12 de Octubre? Excellent means well lit, fast connection, good keyboards and MS office available. I have been to several in this area. The one i like best so far is on Reina Victoria at the mini-plaza with Av Foch. But, the lighting in this one is not that good and it is noisey at times and the keyboards and mice work well most of the time, but not always. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,

Quito Need 5 month rental in Quito
Posted: Fri July 4, 2008 08:34 PM UTC
I am living here from beginning of January 2009 to end of May 2009 and need a suitable furnished place to rent for the entire time. I am not looking to share or to rent a room or to stay with a host family. I would prefer to be in a safe, fun area that is walking distance to amenities like grocery stores and public transportation. Hot water, local telephone, tv and access to internet would be great add-ons. Anyone have any recommendations on companies/people to deal with? I don't want to get ripped off but I would like a comfortable and safe place (no cockroaches please! I did it in Costa Rica but willing to spend extra to have a better place this time around). Thanks!

Quito Coffee for breakfast

While I was in Quito I developed a taste for
the instant coffee mixture that seemed to
be everywhere for breakfast.
It was added to a cup of steaming milk
and seemed to be instant coffee mixed in
with maybe cinnamon and other spices.

Does anyone have a recipe?????

Quito looking for suitable accomodation this summer
Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 11:41 PM UTC
Hello from Colorado where I have been a chalet host for the last winter. I took care of ten guests at a time from other coutries in a townhouse in East Vail. Basically I was responsible for the place, preparing, cooking, and serving three course meals, and taking care of whatever came up during the course of my guests stay.

I am just finishing work here and have some spanish lessons and volunteering on the horizen with The Yanapuma Foundation. The foundation was started by a man from Scotland whom uses is spanish school to fund his volunteer projects. I spent a month there last fall and am really getting motivated for a great summer in South America.

I have been looking online for accomidation during the last few days. I have found places ranging from hostels to apartments and am trying to get a list together to either book from here or to investigate when I get to Quito.

Does anyone have any expertise in this matter? I have previously stayed in La marascal but have been looking in Colonial Quito as well.

I am trying to find advise as far as good companies, schools that rent rooms to those not enrolled, hostels that are unique and affordable, etc!!

I would like to get my accomidation sorted out before I go. It would give me more time to focus on the language and get back into volunteering. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I am easy going and get along with most but also have a tendency to like privacy and quiet!

Thanks for the attention and I look forward to hearing from those who can help.
