Best mode of transportation while in B/QUILLA? Posted: Sun February 3, 2008 04:26 AM UTC
I am planning a trip within the next year and I was wondering if it would be wise to rent a car while I am there. I plan on going to the beach every chance that I get, but I am not sure if I should drive there. A friend of mine has mention that while she was there, she took buses to the beach, but I am not sure I want to be stuck on a bus schedule while I am having fun in the sun. Is there anyone out there that can find a solution to my problem?

Hotels in Barranquilla?? Posted: Fri December 8, 2006 01:25 AM UTC
I see there are already a few posts asking about economic hotels in Barranquilla. However the price ranges discussed are high for us!! Anyone know of a great, ultra cheap ($0-$10 maybe $15 dollars for two people) place to stay in that city? Will be there for Carnival and need to book something soon - so any contact info would be dandy as well.
Cheers
Scott

Barranquilla vs Cartagena Posted: Sat June 11, 2005 11:52 PM UTC
I am planning to go to Cartagena and or Baranquilla by the end of the summer . I just have a couple weeks. Im thinking about settling down there. Setting my sights on a potential places to retire someday, or call a second home. I traveled a lot but never here. Besides just traveling, which would be a better place live for a gringo who speaks very basic spanish. The cost of living, so many women, and the fact that the coast of Columbia seems to be at the beginning of an upswing for international tourism and real estate investment( re investing is my business too so Im thinking to buy a house since prices seem to be starting to go up as the place seems to be gettin safer) Cartegena seems a better choice. What do ya'll think. Which is hotter. Is it really humid. Cartegena seems to be more modern and have more amenities and conveniences. Plus the beaches seem more beautiful???

Film Schools and Media Organizations Posted: Tue March 1, 2005 08:05 PM UTC
Dear VT-ers,
I am planning on travelling to Barranquilla in June/July and was wondering if anyone knows of any digital video editing short courses in the city or of film programmes/media organizations that may have information on this? I work in documentary film and am hoping to make contact with people doing this kind of thing in the area.
Thanks!

Cartagena to Barranquilla Posted: Tue February 22, 2005 01:39 AM UTC
Hello people...
A family friend of mine will be travelling from Cartagena to Barranquilla, then flying to Miami. Can anyone answer the following question:
What is the safest way to get from C to B? It is only a short distance, is it worth getting a plane? Money is of no concern, and THE SAFEST option is vital. If flying is an available option, are there any airlines you could recommend more highly then others?
If flying is not an option, what is the safest? Can anyone suggest specific companies etc?
Thank you in advance!

ANY TRAVEL ADVICE FOR BARRANNQUILLA AND CARTAGENA Posted: Thu January 6, 2005 03:21 PM UTC
I AM TRAVELING TO COLOMBIA IN FEBRUARY FOR ONE WEEK. I WILL BE STAYING IN BARRANQUILLA AND WILL ALSO GO TO CARTAGENA FOR A FEW DAYS. I HAVE HEARD MANY NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT VISITING THAT COUNTRY, MOST OF THE OPINIONS ARE FROM AMERICANS WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THE COUNTRY. I AM A LITTLE HESITANT ABOUT GOING, ALTHOUGH I HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED MY TICKET. I WILL BE GOING WITH MY BF WHO IS FROM BARRANQUILLA BUT NOW RESIDES IN TAMPA, FLORIDA. ANY OPINIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED ;O)

Carnival impressions Posted: Sat December 18, 2004 07:57 PM UTC
What is Carnival like in Barranquilla? How big? How long? Locations? Availabiliyt of reasonably priced lodging?
Most importantly, just what are your impressions of the event? Is it worth a special trip just to see? Worth timing a trip to Colombia just to see? How many days should one plan for the events?
thanks.
I have only had one brief 12 day trip to Cartagena, as a base of comparison.

Colombian Vacation Posted: Tue October 12, 2004 09:41 PM UTC
Myself and a couple friends are trying to decide on our next vacation spot. The three things having the greatest impact on our decision: 1.) having a beach/ocean near by, 2.) an area with a exciting nighlife, and 3.) beautiful women...not necessarily in that order! We've done the Cancun, Mexico thing twice and now would like something not so touristy. Any and all suggestions would be helpful.
Any thanks in advance.
