Johannesburg Hotel near Int. Airport.
Posted: Sat March 22, 2008 02:30 PM UTC
Can anyone tell me a clean, cheap hotel close to the Int. Airport for an overnighter? What should the approx. cost be to get there. What transport should I take and do hotels have pick-up's at the airport?
I have one night in Johannesburg in July before flying out to Uganda. Is there anything I should do or see while there that will only take a couple of hours. Is it safe to be a lone tourist?
Sorry to sound naive but I really don't know what to expect

Johannesburg Pretoria to Johannesburg
Posted: Mon February 11, 2008 09:50 PM UTC
What is the best and safest way of travelling from Pretoria to Johannesburg please. All the travel books say do not take the Metro as it is too dangerous so what does that leave us with? Taxi, bus??? We will have a car in Pretoria and we were going to drop it back there but we will be staying near the airport in Johannesburg so would it be just as easy to drive it there and drop it off. Many thanks.

Johannesburg Hiring a car and driver in Johannesburg
Posted: Fri January 25, 2008 04:43 AM UTC
My mother and I will only be in Jo'burg for one afternoon and night. Anyone know of an available driver to shuttle us around to take in a few sights during our limited time? I know I could rent a car...but I'd probably get lost and waste precious time! I also want to feel safe by being with a local who knows the neighborhoods. Thanks!

Johannesburg Car and Driver
Posted: Fri November 30, 2007 07:16 PM UTC
My wife and I will be visiting the Jo'burg area and staying in Sandton. We are looking for a reliable person with a late model car who would like to make some extra money by ferrying us around over a 3 day period. Our interests include the Maropeng Centre, the Apartheid Museum, the Lesedi Cultural Village and a few spots in the Jo'burg CBD. We would be pleased to provide your admissions and lunches, if you wish, in addition to an agreed upon price for car expenses and driving services.

Johannesburg One night in Johannesburg, what is a must do. Will be this Friday night!!
Posted: Wed November 14, 2007 01:21 PM UTC
We are arriving to Johannesburg at 3pm and fly out the next morning. Want to do something Friday night.

We are staying at the Michelangelo in Sandton. I was thinking of just heading to Montecasino or Gold Reef. How would we get there? Which one is closer, which one is better? How much would a taxi cab be to get there?

Or if we decide to stay in Sandton, what is a good restaurant? read about Carnivore...

Thanks,
Heather

Johannesburg Please help me find some techno in Johannesburg!
Posted: Tue September 25, 2007 10:19 PM UTC
I am from the UK and am used to outdoor free parties (raves) and the occasional seedy/dingy/chemically techno club. However, Johannesburg seems to be distinctly lacking in anything remotely resembling either of these - the closest thing seems to be commercial house music in clubs like esp and h20 rave, which I really cannot stand.

There MUST be some people who enjoy proper techno here, and have places in which to enjoy it. Anyone, please, I'm desperate!

Johannesburg Getting around in Johannesburg...
Posted: Thu September 20, 2007 03:02 PM UTC
...seems to be quite difficult, if it's not with an own or rental car. So my question is, if it is possible to plan a journey with Metrobus in advance. Their site http://www.mbus.co.za offers a 98-page route list from September 2006, but I haven't found a route map. I am interested in going from Lelville to Gold Reef City, but perhaps I will use Metrobus also on further ocassions. Has anybody some experiences with Metrobus to share or would you rather recommend me to rely on Taxis?

Thanks for your help

Johannesburg Accomodation for kids
Posted: Thu August 2, 2007 07:01 AM UTC
I am travelling to Johannesburg Monday - Wednesday next week with my 12 year old son. As I will be on business a lot of the time, I was wondering which hotel would be an ideal venue to keep a young teen occupied. We live regionally, so don't need to do the tourist type thing - I just want somewhere where he can keep himself occupied for a day or two.

Johannesburg What does it cost?
Posted: Mon July 30, 2007 08:19 AM UTC
Work has taken my girlfriend away from me to Joburg. I am going to visit her in the next couple of months but my budget will only be about 1,000 rand per week, my accomodation will be free though. I'm concerned if this will be enough to live on while I'm there?
