Our Cruise ship is spending the day in Coquimbo. There are 6 of us in our 60's so we are not particularly athletic but we are somewhat adventursome or at least we like to think we are. We want to do something wonderful, unique, interesting, fun, and memorable. Can anyone suggest how we might spend our day? Thanks for any suggestions. Carolyn

I have 5 days in Chile to spend chilling out in march 2006. Looking at going up to La Serena for a few days and visiting Vina and Valpo.

I am quite keen to hire a car and take things as they come. Would this be feasible in March to get accommodation? Bearing in mind my spanish is very very basic....

Any help would be appreciated

Hi folks,

I was wondering if it is possible to take a bus from La Serena to Las Flores or San Juan (Argentina) via ruta 41. This road passes through one of the highest passes in the andes (Paso del Agua Negra) and I know it is a popular challenge for cyclists, but does anyone know if there is also a bus service that takes this route?

can you please tell me if there are busses or trains from Santiago to La Serena and vice versa?
We will not have a car and would like to know our options.
also how long is the trip by bus or train?
