Puerto Varas Fishing in Puerto Varas
Posted: Wed January 9, 2008 08:31 PM UTC
Can anyone give some info about fly fishing in the Puerto Varas area. Is it possible to do it without a guide? Perhaps just rent a car and drive to the rivers? Or can someone recommend an inexpensive fishing guide. We really only need to be taken to the fishing location and picked up at the end of the day..

Thanks!

Puerto Varas Puerto Montt to Puerto Varas Taxi Ride
Posted: Sun January 6, 2008 05:45 PM UTC
What is the cost of a taxi ride from Puerto Montt to Puerto Varas?
Is it reasonalbe to rent a car in Puerto Varas and drive to the fishing location? If so, can you give information on the car rental agent? Or can a taxi take you to the fishing location and arranged to be picked up later in the day?

Posted: Sun October 28, 2007 02:52 PM UTC
Hello,
Can anyone please tell me if it is easy to book a minivan for a private day tour of P.Montt/P. Varas once we get to the port or should we book in advance? And if we must book ahead of time, any recommendations for tour guide/agencies? Our cruise ship will be there on Dec.20,2007 and will be tendered from 8:00AM-5:00PM. Any tips for a day itineraries of "must see"? Thank you very much.

Puerto Montt One night in Puerto Montt or Puerto Varas?
Posted: Fri June 8, 2007 06:28 AM UTC
My wife and I arrive in Puerto Montt this June 26th, 2007 in the morning. We plan to take the two-day lake crossing tour to Bariloche on the 27th. My questions are:
1. Should we spend the one night in Puerto Montt or in Puerto Varas? We are willing to pay up to $80 or so for the one hotel night and would like a nice, convenient location for one afternoon of touring. Any suggestions for hotel/hostel?
2. If you had one afternoon to spend in the area like us, what would you do? where would you go?

Thank you for the advice.

Isla Chiloé Isla Chiloe
Posted: Fri May 11, 2007 11:59 AM UTC
My friend and I are spending one month in Argentina and Chile. The idea of visiting this island appeals to us, but is it worth the trip? How long does it take to get there from the Chilean coast, and how much would it cost us? (We would do it the cheapest way possible!) We could really only afford to spend one day there. Please advise!! :-)

I'm planning to travel 11 days from Puerto montt to Balmaceda in March.
Car hire is excessive for only one person, is there other ways to do that route that is worth trying, example: Bus?
Anyone want to do same to try to share a car?
Thanks!

Puerto Montt car rental and driving from temuco
Posted: Tue September 5, 2006 04:46 PM UTC
Hello,

i unfortunately only have 4 days for the lake district and would appreciate an advise as to whether a drive from Temuco to Puerto Montt is still meaningful in such a short time?

Also, what would be the best places to see on the way, considering the time constraints?

Finally, are there any recommended car rentals that would allow me to rent a car in Temuco and drop it off in Puerto Montt?

thanks

Isla Chiloé Visit to Chiloe
Posted: Mon February 13, 2006 02:59 AM UTC
I will have 2 days on Chiloe and want to visit Castro, Dalcahue, Chonchi and National Park Chiloe. May be also Ancud (if enough time, not sure what is better).
We will start from Puerto Montt around 10am after landing, and I plan to be in Puerto Varas next night. What is the best way to do it? Buy tour or rent car?
If yes, which operators/car agencies are the best. Should we take 4WD to visit park or regular car is ok? Where is the best place to spend night in Castro (local and cheap)?
Any other tips?

Thanks,
Dan

Región de Los Lagos Osorno Volcano Climbing
Posted: Sun February 12, 2006 11:51 PM UTC
We planned to go to 1 day trip to summit of Osorno volcano in April, but all Internet sites show that it is very expensive (150-200$ pp) and also possible in groups of 3 people only. We are 4 people.
Any ideas about operators who does it cheaper and allows larger groups?
Also, on the same night I will need to leave to Pucon. What is the best way to get there?

Thanks,

Región de Los Lagos Donde?
Posted: Thu October 20, 2005 10:54 PM UTC
I asked a similar more general question awhile back but I think I can be more specific now. My sister and I will have 3 days in the Lagos region in the last week of November and I don't know where we should go. Things I am interested in doing/seeing: volcano, hiking, horsebackriding, hot baths, and any other unexpected and adventurous thing. I don't want a big touristy town, but I also don't want to be the only tourists there. If a certain place tends to have better food, that would be great. Villarica has been suggested to my sister. I'm not sure which parque nacional is the best for us to go to, which makes it harder to choose a city...Any help would be great.

I am planning on going to the Región de Los Lagos at the end of November (haven't decided where yet). I am very familiar with the bus sytems in Chile, but know almost nothing about the trains. Which would you suggest, a bus or train? Any more information or websites I could go to in order to find out more would be much appreciated.
