Parking Torres del Paine Posted: Fri November 6, 2009 11:51 PM UTC
If you rent a car to get to and travel around in Torres del Paine and stay in some of the accommodations that you must hike to. Are there places to park?
Are there places to park at Paine Grande?
or other hotels within the park?

Remis Taxi from Ezeiza to city and Tourist Tax Posted: Fri November 6, 2009 02:13 PM UTC
Is it just me ? or has the price of a Remis to the city gone up, drastically, in price ?
I will be arriving in B.A. on 13th February and am looking for a Remis to the city and back again on 20th.
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced Taxi firm or individual who can do these trips without "ripping me off" ?
Also, the Argentine Govt. were talking, some time ago, about introducing a reciprical Entry Tax for citizens of those countries who impose it on Argentines - I think from memory that they were talking around US$130 !!
Does anyone know where this proposal is currenly at ( if anywhere? )
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give !!

I will travel to Mendoza coming from Santiago, for New Year´s Eve, any suggestions? Posted: Fri November 6, 2009 01:50 AM UTC
I would like to know about 3 star hotels in Mendoza and also in Santiago, if possible. In Santiago, I would like to stay in Providencia neighborhood. In Mendoza, in a walking distance from everywhere in town. Besides, I need to know which are the best vineyeards and if a reservation is needed for lunch.
Also about companies that take tourists to vineyards.
Thanks in advance.

Agua Negra Pass - open in November? Posted: Thu November 5, 2009 11:18 AM UTC
I am planning on driving Mendoza - Valparaiso Chile, then north and up across the Chile-Argentina Agua Negra pass.... I've seen many photos of the pass and it doesn't look that bad. My wife and I have driven some pretty nutty stuff before so we're not novices at crazy passes and roads..
I was hoping someone might have some insight into this pass around 11/15/09 or so..
Thanks!

Boca Juniors Posted: Wed November 4, 2009 10:57 PM UTC
Hi I am in need of your fantastic help!
I will be in BA for 1 week in April and have been looking into gong to a Football match when there. It is my parner 30th bday and I know how much he would love this as a surprise.
Please, please please can you advise me whether there are any matches in April and if so how can I get tickets? Can I pre book now or will I have to buy nearer the time.
I have been on several 'whats on' websites that state boca play river plate in april.
This would be fabulous and I would love to get tickets. no matter what the price!
Unfortunately I don't speak the best spanish!, so cannot go on baca juniors websites and find out more.
Also will it be the new season then and maybe the exact date is not known? or does this match happen at the same time every year?
Please help in anyway.
Thanks

Puerto Iguazu to Sao Paulo Posted: Wed November 4, 2009 04:22 AM UTC
Hi,
I'm traveling to Puerto Iguazu in Feb. I fly into the airport mid morning, will see the Argentine side on my first day and will be staying there overnight. The following day I would like to see the Brazilian side before getting an overnight bus to Sao Paulo... can anyone tell me how frequent the buses are from Foz do Iaguzu to Sao Paulo and how much they cost. Also if I go from my hostel to the brazilian side where can I store my luggage while I explore the falls?
Thanks

Hi
I'm planning a trip to Argentina in march 2010.
I'm wondering how to get from Salta til Iguazu? I want to travel by bus.
I have searched on www.andesmar.com, but I can't find any connection.
I know it's a very long bus-trip. Where would you suggest that I should stop on this way?

Travel trip to Argentina Posted: Thu October 29, 2009 03:53 PM UTC
Hi
I plan going to Argentina on my own in December 2009. Because of this, it would be great if I join local tours for visiting the excursion. Preliminarily, I want to go the Iguazu Waterfall and park, Perito Moreno Glacier, the southern tip of Argentina and Buenos Aires. Do you have suggestion on any reliable/good serviced online tour operator(s) and/or tour operator(s) with email address if there is no website for me to ask more about the information? Basically I read several online tour operators but no idea which one is reliable and of good service.
Many thanks for your advice.
Cheers

which estancia?..... and thoughts on mar del plata? Posted: Fri October 23, 2009 07:23 PM UTC
hi, i've been in BsAs a while and want to get out for a few days, but not too far - i really want to try an estancia and stay overnight, but am wary of the recommendations of time out and lonely planet - they say everything is great, in short, and as i'm travelling on my own, i want to find a good one, but not one exclusively for couples :) or too heavily polo focused.... just somewhere nice and relaxed where there might be other travellers
any recommendations?
failing that, i'm thinking about the mar del plata for 2 or 3 nights - again, any idea as to whether this is a destination for solo travellers or not outside of december/jan/feb?
many thanks and happy travels

Planning 5 unforgettable weeks through South America Posted: Thu October 22, 2009 12:48 PM UTC
Hola ,
I’ll be in South America in November and have drafted an impossible itinerary and now I can use all of your help to get it right. I do travel at a fast pace and take countries by storm instead of smelling the roses but transport limits anybody’s options
This is/was my initial plan
7/nov Flight Bxl - Rio
8/nov Rio
9/nov Rio
10/nov Iguazu BR
11/nov Iguazu AR
12/nov Buenos Aires
13/nov Buenos Aires
14/nov BA to PM
15/nov Perito Moreno
16/nov Perito Moreno
17/nov Travel to Atacama
18/nov Atacama Laguna Miscanti y Miniques & Valle de la luna
19/nov Atacama Chuquicamata & El Tatio Geyser
20/nov Atacama Buffer day
21/nov Chile - Bolivia
22/nov Uyuni
23/nov Uyuni
24/nov Uyuni
25/nov Uyuni or La Paz
26/nov La Paz
27/nov Coroico
28/nov Fly La Paz - Rurrenabaque
29/nov Rurrenabaque
30/nov Rurrenabaque
1/dec Rurrenabaque
2/dec Lago Titicaca
3/dec Copacabana & Isla del Sol
4/dec Arequipa
5/dec Colca Canyon
6/dec Colca Canyon
7/dec Cuzco
8/dec Machu Picchu sunset
9/dec Machu Picchu sunrise - fly Cuzco to Lima
10/dec Lima
11/dec Flight Lima - Atlanta
12/dec Atlanta
Flight Atlanta - Brussel
13/dec Back Home
My draft plan is indeed too tightly scheduled as I find out while booking flights/buses/tours..
My original plan was to fly between these destinations :
Rio - Iguazu - Buenos Aires - Perito Moreno - Calama/San Pedro de Atacama
But Perito Moreno is indeed too remote and takes a lot of time and money to reach, then also difficult to continue to Calama as this seems to be a small airport. Besides I prefer nature to cities and as I only planned to spend 2 days in Buenos Aires that is an expensive flight from Iguazu. So in case I skip BA and PM I can continue from Iguazu to Calama, unless the flight from Rio is a lot cheaper but then I should book an all in tour from Rio to Iguazu (return flight + park entrance + hostel).
Do you know by chance if there are any interesting offers ? I did some research on the internet but most sites are in Portuguese, difficult for me.
I'll land in Rio on November 8th , where I will spend 1 or 2 days so I can book a tour to Iguazu starting from November 9th or 10th to spend 2days there as I want to see both the Brazilian as the Argentinian side of the falls and preferably also go as close as possible by boat.
Do you also know which airline proposes a good connection from Rio (or Iguazu) to Calama (Chile) ?
If rio-iguazu-rio is not worthwhile then I might still fly to BA and continue by bus through North Argentina towards Atacama. How many days should I foresee for this, with stops in Mendoza and Salta? Can I include nightbuses to win some time?
Which option would you recommend? 1. Rio - Atacama or 2. Iguazu-BA-Mendoza-Salta-Atacama
I've been told about corrupt customs agents on the CL-BO border, now you tell me it's AR-CL.... it's all part of the fun I guess
Do tour operators offer to visit the nice places in Atacama and also drop you off at Uyuni? Do you have a website or email of the tour operator that can do all this?
Can I book the Salar de Uyuni tour towards La Paz, starting from Uyuni ?
So far I found there are only 2 buses a week from Atacama to Uyuni , but hope that is not true
http://www.sanpedroatacama.com/ingles/ir.htm
Should I also include a buffer day to cross the Bolivia-Peru border?
Is it true that the Salar de Uyuni is flooded by rain in nov-dec? Does that not spoil the scenery? Hopefully I can get to see it at sunrise, the best moment of the day to enjoy nature's beauty.
Can I book an all-in tour from La Paz to Rurrenabaque(flight, safari, accomodation, .. booze?)
Re Machu Picchu I understood so far that the entrance to the site is unlimited, but they only allow 500p/day on the Inca Trail, which I'm not doing due to lack of time. On the other hand I should be very early there to get a ticket for the Huaynu Picchu on the other side so I can enjoy the sunrise from there. Is all this correct?
Sorry for this huge bunch of questions, but I'm looking forward to go to South America for the first time and really want to make the best out of it
feel free to contact me directly on christian.buchheit@gmail.com as I read those emails a few times a day
Muchas gracias para ayudarme

Estancias near Buenos Aires Posted: Wed October 21, 2009 06:00 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm travelling to Buenos Aires next month and would like to include a 2 night estancia stay on my trip.
I'd be very grateful for any recommendations on places you may have visited / heard good things about. I'm in my 20s, travelling with my boyfriend and pretty flexible. Ideally looking for an estancia within 250km of Buenos Aires, with horse riding for beginners and some other activities would be a bonus.
Also.. I'm a vegetarian - do they cater at all for that at the estancias? Understand this may be an issue.

Argentina Visa Posted: Mon October 19, 2009 06:20 PM UTC
Hi, I am going to be traveling to Argentina & want some info on visa requirements. I have read that a US citizen can travel to Argentina as a tourist for up to 90 day w/o needing a visa, but I am wanting to spend about 6 months there. I am hoping to briefly travel to Chile, Peru & Brazil in that 6 month course of time, which I need visa info about as well. I wont be spending more than just a couple of days in those countries though. I will be spending the majority of the 6 months in Buenos Aires & various parts of Argentina. Any information on this would be much appreciated. Thank You!

Argentina on $800 a month: Mission Impossible? Posted: Sun October 18, 2009 11:27 PM UTC
I am a 25 year-old female who is hoping to travel to Argentina during January and February 2010. I'm going to narrow my travel focus to the Mendoza and Lake District regions. I am looking to do this on $800 US dollars per month ($1600 for the two months)
I am traveling on a budget, obviously, and will be staying in youth hostels and eating at budget restaurants. Given my budget, is this trip feasible? If not, what do you suggest as a better monthly budget, in order to travel modestly as a young backpacker? (I would camp, but I'm not sure if that's a safe option for a lone female traveler.)
Thanks for the help!

Hike to Laguna de Los Tres / Fitz Roy Lookout difficulty? Posted: Fri October 9, 2009 11:29 PM UTC
Hi All,
We are a group of 9 pax (ages between 30-35) that are going to be on a guided hike up to Laguna de Los Três / Cerro Fitz-Roy Lookout in January. We are departing from El Chalten.
Our tour guide has told me that we are probably going to be walking around 28 km for 10 to 12 hours.
Has anyone ever done this trek? Is it really difficult? We aren't experienced trekkers, but I've seen pictures of people in there 50's doing the trek so I don't think it's very difficult.
Can anyone who has done this trek give me their opinion on the difficulty level?
Thanks!
