| Borneo | 14 day visit to Borneo. Posted: Mon April 28, 2008 02:08 AM UTC
My friend and I are travelling through Malaysia and Thailand and making a 14 day trip to Borneo. I have a travel book but am having difficulty coordinating a route to go. We are starting at Kota Kinabalu and doing Mount Kinabalu. From there we want to explore as much as possible with a primary emphasis on seeing caves and hiking. We would like to do as many adventorous things as possible. Then we are flying out at the end of the island at Kuching. We begin at the end of June and leave mid July. Can anyone recommend a route as well as ideal things to see (as well as ways to get to them). We are definately on a budget but would like to do as much as possible within it.

| Brunei | Curious??? Posted: Wed April 9, 2008 04:04 AM UTC
Hi, this might be an odd Q to ask...
I am a transgender (pondan or mak nyah) from KL and planning to visit Brunei (BSB) this month via Labuan. I was wondering on how tolerant is the Brunei people towards 'mak nyah'??? Will I be facing unnecessary hassles and ridicule or harassed while in BSB??? Or the level of acceptance of 'mak nyah' is SIMILAR to what I am used to in Malaysia??? Thanks so much!!!! |

| Brunei | Brunei Stopover Posted: Sun April 6, 2008 02:00 AM UTC
Hi,
I'm travelling to Thailand and through to Singapore in June/July and have stopovers in Brunei (on my way to an fro Brisbane) on both legs of the trip. I've only got 8hrs (getting in at 6:30am and leaving at 2:20pm) on a saturday and was wondering if this was enough time to get out of the airport and see some of the city? On the way back I only get in at 11pm and leave 11:45am again on a saturday night/ sunday morning, so don't know what I'd be able to fit in there. I'm not really too sure of how long I'd need to leave for checking in and everything, but I would love to see as much as I can. If anyone has any good ideas that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks |

| Borneo | Trip to Tanjung Puting NP (in Borneo) Dec 16-19 Posted: Mon November 26, 2007 05:02 AM UTC
Hello,
I'm traveling to Tanjung Puting NP (in Borneo) to hang out with the wild orangutans for a few days at Camp Leaky (Dec 16-19, 2007). Since traveling alone is no fun, I'm looking for someone else who might want to go. The price for a three day stay gets cheaper, the more people you have. Let me know if any one is interested in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Cheers, Steve |

| Borneo | orang utan Posted: Fri October 5, 2007 12:17 PM UTC
my husband and i (from uk) will be visiting borneo next June as part of a trip to kuala lumpar andhong kong. will be spending 5 days in borneo and anxious to see sights. would love to see the orang utans close up and missis loves shopping. is borneo safe cos we are used to wandering around places on our own. The ony thing my other half avoids is snakes - she has a phobia about them so please tell me where we can avoid seeing them. One of the reasons she has agreed to come on this trip is because i told her that snakes were so rare in this area they were protected !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Brunei | Sultan of Brunei's Birthday (15th July) Posted: Tue April 17, 2007 03:28 PM UTC
I understand that the Sultan of Brunei's birthday is on the 15th July. Does anyone know whether it is advisable to visit Brunei during this period (e.g. 13-15th July?). I am afraid it may be very crowded and a lot of the attractions may be closed to celebrate the sultan's birthday.
An alternative for me for the visit would be 6-8th July, is this period better than 13-15th July? |

| Borneo | Alternative ways to get to Borneo? Posted: Sun February 11, 2007 01:33 AM UTC
Me and my girlfriend are travelling to Thailand and peninsular Malaysia at the end of this month. We're planning to get to Borneo too and I wonder if anyone knows any alternative way to get there. Our budget is not too big so we're trying to find something cheaper than by air. There is supposed to be some boat but i haven't found any info on it...
Anyone know something about this? |
