Buses to KL Posted: Tue June 30, 2009 08:23 AM UTC
Hi there. I will be in Singapore for 3 days in August and then moving onto KL. Can you advise best / easiest bus services.
Is it OK to book on arrival from the hotels or would you advise booking ahead?
Any bus advice between the two cities appreciated.
By the way I will be staying in the Geylang area so the nearer the station the better.

Very pointed Singapore question. Posted: Mon June 29, 2009 02:57 AM UTC
I am looking for a very specific Singapore experience...not one like that...and I want to let you all know what I am looking for and maybe you can direct me in the right direction.
First I am looking for a decent hotel close to any beaches.
Second I want to know of a decent casino that has a Texas Hold'em card room.
Third and last I would like to be close to the night life, clubs/bars etc etc.
Basically I want to hang on the beach during the day, gamble some at night, and go to the clubs at night. Any help would be great.

Smaoking and cigarettes in Singapore Posted: Sun June 28, 2009 10:18 AM UTC
Hi All
I just read a post further down regarding bringing cigarettes into Singapore and was wandering if anyone can clarify it for me please? Are you allowed to bring in cigarettes to Singapore and if so is it just one opened packet? Do you have to pay tax/duty on that packet when you arrive?
Also regarding smoking in Singapore, what exactly are the rules? Are you allowed to smoke on the streets so long as you do not do it near buildings and of course around other people? So for example, you stand well away from people? And also, which is a given I feel, do not litter your butts all over the floor rather place them into the bin?
I have tried too look up infor regarding this on the internet but can't find the exact laws. So if anyone has a website they could give me with the relevant info, I would really appreciate it.
We leave for Singapore Tuesday night and would like to know exactly what I need to do.
Thank you for your help.

Booking a hotel in Singapore Posted: Sat June 20, 2009 04:46 PM UTC
Dear All,
I have often heard about how cheap hotel rates are booking via asiarooms.com
today, I checked some hotel rates on the internet and guess what? asiarooms.com is often the more expensive offer!
Example:
Marina Mandarin Hotel - Deluxe Room (total stay of 4 nights)
hotel homepage: 410 Euro
visitsingapore.com: 464 Euro
hoteltravel.com: 517 Euro
asiarooms.com: 820 (!!!) Euro
Sheraton Towers Hotel - Tower Wing (total stay of 4 nights)
hotel homepage: 693 Euro
visitsingapore.com: 612 Euro
hoteltravel.com: 761 Euro
asiarooms.com: 884 (!!!) Euro
Which option have you used so far?
regards, Gerlinde

Which hotel can you most recommend? Posted: Wed June 17, 2009 12:01 PM UTC
Dear VT-Travellers,
I am planning a short stop-over in Singapore on my way to Korea, and I am fighting my way through the jungle of hotel offers!
As a holder of the KrisFlyer card, I am most interested in one of the hotels of the partner programm, preferbely in Orchard Road: eg.
Pan Pacific Orchard
Pan Pacific Singapore
Hilton
Grand Hyatt
Intercontinental Middle Road
Holiday Inn Parkview
Holiday Inn Atrium
Mandarin Oriental Orchard
Meritus Mandarin
M Hotel
Sheraton Towers
The St. Regis
Raffles Hotel
Shagri-La
Traders
Goodwood Park
Amara
Fullerton
As I am travelling alone, I'd prefer a hotel where the lobby or lounge is not filled with "working" girls....
Any suggestions is welcome! Thank you in advance for your help.
Greetings from Germany

Changi Airport Posted: Wed June 17, 2009 02:58 AM UTC
I have a full day stopover in Singapore (7am - 8pm). I have heard there is a city tour which leaves from the airport, and would like some information about it. I would also like to know if it's possible to leave my carry-on bag somewhere at the airport, so I don't have to carry it around with me all day

Hoping for help from a local member! Posted: Sat May 23, 2009 01:10 PM UTC
We'll be flying into Paya Lebar Air Base, and staying on Sentosa Island. I know we can order a cab easily enough, but does anyone know how far an MRT or bus station is from the main gate (schlepping 2 kids + luggage)? This is a seriously, tigthtly budgeted trip, any idea what a cab would cost for 4 people, around 3p on a weekday?

BTF ferry to Airport Posted: Tue May 19, 2009 05:43 PM UTC
hi,
we are getting the ferry from bintan to BTF, arriving at 16:10. We are then catching an onward flight to Bangkok, and have a choice of three budget flights at 18:20, 19:30 and 20:30. We would very much like to catch the 18:20, but obviously its cutting it fine. Does anyone know
1. How reliable is the ferry (travelling in July)?
2. How long it takes to get customs?
3. How long it takes to get from the ferry to the airport (either the budget terminal or the main one)?
generally any thoughts on whether its feasible to catch the 18:20 or indeed whether we should catch the late flight would be most appreciated.
thanks

Golden Landmark Hotel booking from Changi Posted: Tue May 19, 2009 06:59 AM UTC
Hello guys,
I am going to visit Singapore from 24-28 May. I finally decided to book Golden Landmark hotel from the Changi Airport as none of the travel agents in my country has channels to Golden Landmark. They can only book hotels which have agreement with Airlines.
The 4 nights charge of Golden Landmark Executive room is $485 USD (all inclusive) according to the hotels own website, (best available rate). My question is how much extra it might cost if booked from Airport? Do anyone have any idea? I can afford a maximum of $50 USD extra though I hope it wouldnt get to that much.
Any feedback on this is much appreciated.
Thanks

Where is the best place to exchange currency into Singapore dollars. I know banks can do this, but are there other money changers who give good exchange rates,WHO ARE THEY and where are they located.
Appreciate all replies.

- M Hotel

If possible, could someone please give me a review on these hotels and which one they would recommend he should to stay at?
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

10 hours in Singapore, but on the way to Bangkok Posted: Sun May 10, 2009 05:37 PM UTC
Hello everyone,
I am flying on Tuesday to Bangkok, however, I will have a 12 hour layover in Singapore. I was thinking of leaving my luggage at the airport, jump on the MRT and then explore Singapore a little bit.
- Is a check-in with Tiger Airways early morning (8.00 am) possible, when the flight leaves at 18.00 hours
- Which MRT station is recommended to land up in city center
- Which MRT stations are for SIN highlights (eg Merlion, Raffles)
- Shopping: Since I will be flying to BKK, do you think that I can get cheaper prices in SIN? I need a new mobile phone, an Ipod Touch, and maybe some fake designer wear (Ed Hardy)
- Is SIN Airport Duty Free Shop cheaper than in city, eg for the Ipod purchase
- any recommendations for this coming Tuesday?
- any recommendations in general
Thanks,
Dissidium

Hotel Booking from Changi Airport Posted: Thu May 7, 2009 06:13 PM UTC
Sorry to make this a new thread. Is it a good idea to book a hotel upon arrival at the Changi Airport? Just checked the SHA provide this service at Changi. If I book from there will it cost higher than the rate shown in the hotel's original website? Or I can get a discount? Or is it same as listed in the hotel's website?
Thanks in advance
