Concelho de Macau Macau and Zhuhai
Posted: Fri April 18, 2008 06:08 AM UTC
Hi,

I would like to go on a one day trip to Macau. A visit to venetian casino and some places of interest. Would like to go over to zhuhai for shopping. May i know do i have enough time for the intended journey? And oso, do i need to buy the turbo jet ferry ticket in advance first? Is it advisable to book a hotel? if so, any recommendation for a budget stay?

Thanks!

Concelho de Macau Macau Short Trip
Posted: Tue April 15, 2008 01:00 AM UTC
I will be arriving at Macau Airport at about 1pm then need to take Turbojet to Hong Kong and check-in hotel. I would like to take this opportunity to spend some time in Macau but my time will be very limited and I'm not going to stay in Macau.

Please advise is it possible to go to The Venetian & sightseeing with trolley bag straight from the airport. Can I enter the casino ? Or any other places to recommend. I will have to leave for Hong Kong before the working rush hour.

Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks

Concelho de Macau Anything other than casinos?
Posted: Sat April 12, 2008 04:59 AM UTC
Will be in Macau next week for a couple of nights. As I don't gamble, is there anything else worth going to in the evening besides the casinos? Sure there are restos, but what do you do after dinner? The nightlife tips for Macau do not say much. Thanks for your comments.

Concelho de Macau Lost in Macao
Posted: Sun March 16, 2008 05:37 AM UTC
Hello Ope everyone's doin great... We just need your help, coz we might drop by Macau next month just wondering what we can do there.... I just have some questions....

1. What bus should we take from the (a)Airport to the St. Augustine Church -> how many hours/mins and how much (b)from the St. Augustine Church to the Macau tower and back (c) St. Augustine Church to the Pier goin' to Hong Kong.

- Are there free shuttles at the airport?

2. Anyone tried the bungy jump offered at the Macau Tower? Is the sky jump (which is way cheaper) worth it?

3. What can we do in Macau after 8PM - any place we can visit aside from the Casinos and Bars.

4. Can we stroll at the Senado Square at around 6am? and what time does the coffee houses or restaurants open (Any recommendations?).

5. Is it worth it to visit Coloane? what are the attractions there?

6. Where is the cheapest place in Macau to buy food... we might be tryin' out the Buffet in either the Venetian or the tower... after that we might go broke haha.

7. How can we get to the Venetian from the TurboJet terminal or the Senedo Park... Is the shuttles really free... or should we be staying at the Venetian to be able to avail of that?

We appreciate all the HELP we can get, ope I can be of help to you guys the next time around...

Thanks,

Xtian

Concelho de Macau Suitable to walk around with pram & toddler?
Posted: Thu February 7, 2008 04:35 PM UTC
Hi, I understand that from Guia hill top, we need to walk a series of steps and pathways to the Chapel of Our Lady of Guia and Lighthouse as well as Flora Garden. We are bringing along our 20 months old boy and his pram (buggy). Are there many steps and sloops down from hill top to these places? Is the walking journey suitable for parents like us with a toddler, baby bag and his pram?

Alternatively, we are thinking of going to Macau tower to have a good view of Macau island. To view Macau, is it better to go up to Guia hill or the Macau tower?

Hi VTers, I will be spending 1 night in macau before heading to hong kong for 5 night. Could anyone recommend us any reasonable priced hotel that has/ closed to any reputable casinos worth seeing?

I have the intention to book Metropark Macau, ex-Grandeur. How is it in terms of location and rooms?

How do I get to Macau from Hong Kong Airport? Macau will be our first stop for a 6 nights Macau/HKG trip.

Concelho de Macau Is Macau walkable?
Posted: Fri January 25, 2008 03:33 PM UTC
I've been reading ppls tips on Macau and was wondering if Macau was small enough to just walk around, without taking the bus. I plan on visiting the major sites on the main island and will most likely take the bus over the bridge to Taipa. Can I just walk around the main island...for example from the ferry terminal to the main casino strip, all the way to A-Ma Temple and then back around again to the Fort/Museum? How long do you think it will take me to walk the route?

I will be taking the ferry over from HK in the AM and returning to HK in the PM, so I have a full day there. Thanks in advance for your help.

Concelho de Macau Currency to be used in Macau
Posted: Fri January 11, 2008 05:58 AM UTC
Hi all,

I'll be going for 4 day trip in Macau and Hong Kong with Macau only about 1 and half day and the rest are in HKG. Since I am spending more time in hongkong, I was thinking not to bring so much cash in patacas. Still, is HK dollar is accepted in Macau? I was informed that the exchange rate of HKD and MOP is about the same. If HKD is widely accepted in Macau, then maybe I dont need to bring MOP so much. Thanks in advance!!

Concelho de Macau question about Augusters Hostel
Posted: Fri January 11, 2008 01:41 AM UTC
hi, im thinking of availing the 300HK$-private room in augusters, my question is, does the "shared toilet and bath" mean there is only one for all the lodgers or is it a multiple cubicle toilet and bath? I will be travelling with my 50-yr old mom and 3-yr old son, so if the t&B is not convenient i might try and find another hotel/hostel.

also, does the 3-bed bedroom have a cabinet, mirror, small table for writing, 220V sockets, etc?

thanks in advance...

Concelho de Macau Beautiful Venetian Casino and the majestic ruins
Posted: Thu November 22, 2007 09:58 AM UTC
Hi, VT readers,

We will be in Macau for only a day. Whilst we like to go to the beautiful Venetian Casino, we do not want to miss the majestic ruins of St Paul. So we decided to see the Gondolas at Venetian Casino first before going to visit St Paul's Church site. Can you tell me:
(a) how to get to there (St Paul' Church site) by bus if any from the Venetian
(b) good chinese restaurants in the vicinity of St Paul's Church site.

Thank you in advance.

Concelho de Macau Hi Ann 930 or anyone who can assist
Posted: Thu November 15, 2007 01:41 PM UTC
Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Its never late. My trip is in Dec!

Abit confused by your reply...just to recap and summarise; please assist to vet and amend...

10am - From Ferry Terminal
Taxi to A Ma Temple.

11am - From A MA Temple, Take taxi to Sao Paolo, Monte Fort, Senade Square.Lunch at Senade Square ok? Its a place for shopping right? Is Sao Paolo same as St Paul Ruins?

4pm - Is it too long to spend the above for 5 hours including lunch?
Depart Senade Square to Sky Tower by taxi.

5pm - Depart Sky tower to Venitian Casino. Dinner there - Anything nice to eat there? Anything for the kids while I am in the casino?

9pm - Depart Casino to Ferry Terminal by shuttle bus.

Some more questions: -

1) We have 10 people in total - So, is by taxi still the best way to get from places to places?

2) Where to get the nice almond cookies and egg tart?

Please help me on the above.....Thank you very much for your assistance!

Concelho de Macau Travelling Around From Hotel Holiday Inn - 3 days 2 nights
Posted: Tue October 30, 2007 08:45 AM UTC
dear all!

I am making a trip to Macau late next week and would be staying about 3 days 2 nights there before taking my ferry to Hongkong. Need your kind advise on the following:

a) How usually can I travel from Macau Int'l Airport to my hotel, which is Holiday Inn? If I take a cab, how much would it estimate to be if it is by meter....

b) Intend to go to Serenado Square, St Pauls Ruins, Macau Tower, Cybernetic Fountain, Sands Casino, Venetican Casino over the 2 and half days....is my hotel Holiday Inn near to these places? Any suggestions how I should plan the attractions and how to travel around from one place to another? Saw some forumers posted information on the buses to take...but really fear will take the wrong direction/ miss the bus stop or even wait at the wrong bus stop...hehe...

c) How to go to Gongbei (supposedly the very big and cheap shopping complex at the immigration between Macau and China) from my hotel?

d)Any good eateries/resturants near my hotel? Looking for snacks/dim sum/desserts that I heard Macau is famous for!

e) Heard actually can spend some time walking in/around the hotels (that is the newer ones like sands/wynn/ venetican) since they have lots of shops. IS it true that its like those hotels in Vegas, each has its own shows/themes that I can spend my whole day just snapping photos?

f) Will be travelling via ferry to Hongkong on my 3rd day with two 25-inch luggage....would that be a problem? and if I am travelling towards my hotel, Metropark Mongkok, which is the ferry terminal that I should buy tickets from?and travel towards?

Sorry for the many questions...but cos I have never been there....really scared will mis-plan my trip and result disappointment....

Look forward to hearing from you!! thanks!!! :))

Concelho de Macau Re: Macau to Shenzhen

I understand there are ferries from Macau to Shenzhen. Where can I get a schedule from and how do I purchase the tickets? Has anyone taken this route before and how are the ferries?I'm concerned as I have 4 young kids with me and I need to understand whether it's more convenient travelling from Macau to Shenzhen or to go to Hongkong and travel to Shenzhen from there.

Concelho de Macau Re: Stay in Zhuhai instead of Macau?
Posted: Sat October 6, 2007 09:18 AM UTC
A friend just returned from Macau and told me that since Zhuhai is merely just a walk across from Macau, it might make better money sense to stay in a hotel in Zhuhai instead of Macau which is very expensive. As I have 4 kids, that may be quite a bit of saving especially if we're not into gambling but have already booked our tickets to fly in on a Saturday evening. How true is that? And is it really that easy to go to and fro from Macau into Zhuhai and back across? We do intend to take in some sights of Macau as well. From what I gather, Zhuhai really has nothing much to offer except cheap shopping and I'm thinking more of the savings on accommodation ie, one can get 4-5 star accommodation for the price of a 2 star in Macau.Would appreciate some feedback on this.

I'll be visitng Macau with my kids aged 12,10,8 & 3 and was wondering which hotel would be ideal in terms of location to the attractions which kids would be interested in,without having to hail a taxi to bundle everyone in and since kids are not allowed to casinos, it is not necessary to stay at one. What choices do I have?
