Marrakesh Marrakesh with a baby
Posted: Sun November 1, 2009 09:25 AM UTC
Just wondering if anyone can give me any tips. We've never been to Morrocco before and will be going next May with our little boy who will be almost 11 months by then. Any ideas what the weather will be like then? Can we buy baby supplies like nappies in Marrakesh? Will we be able to sightsee with a buggy? Can anyone reccomend accomodation that will allow a travel cot in the room that isn't too expensive (we're trying to keep costs down)? Feel free to give me any advice or tips you think will help. We've never travelled with a baby before it's always just been us backpacking around so we're a bit unsure.

Thanks, Bekah

Marrakesh Single woman travelling to Marrakesh
Posted: Wed October 28, 2009 01:50 PM UTC
I have booked a week in Marrakesh from 18 December alone. As a (not young) single woman, are there any things I shouldn't do for safety reasons? I realise I will get hassled but would welcome advice and some company sometimes whilst I'm there from any English speakers. Any offers? Any advice would be appreciated.

Marrakesh All Inclusive hotel on the outskirts - good idea?
Posted: Wed September 30, 2009 12:04 AM UTC
Checking deals to Marrakesh and there are two offers to go to either the Kenzi Oasis Hotel or the Bluebay hotel just outside Marrakesh all inclusive for a week which is about £100 more than bed and breakfast for one Hotel Amine closer to centre. My partner is a bit aprehensive about going to Marrakesh - food etc... so what would be the best and is it worth paying the extra. We hope to go on excursions whilst there for at least two days and one night so would not be using the hotel ten even if we had paid. Also has anyone stayed at any of the hotels and`would they tell us what they thought.

Thanks

Marrakesh Royal Air Maroc
Posted: Tue September 29, 2009 07:45 AM UTC
Hi, does anyone have the latest news on the pilot strike at Royal Air Maroc? haven't been able to get latest news online if strike has been resolved. will appreciate if someone can give me an update or send me a link to the latest news report? Am travelling to Morrocco in Dec and was thinking of booking a ticket in advance online for the Casablanca to Marrakech route (cos much faster than train and easier as I have suitcase to lug around) But now am anxious as been reading a lot of bad things about the airline that is is unreliable and subject to frequent last minute changes. appreciate any views you might have to share. just wish there is another airline that flies from Casa to Marrakech!

Marrakesh airport bus?
Posted: Tue September 15, 2009 05:49 PM UTC
I keep reading that there is an airport bus, Bus 11, at the Marrakech airport, about .5 miles from the airport, and that is runs into town around the Djemaa el Fna.

How do I find this bus when I leave out of the airport? Are there signs to a bus stop or does someone know if I should walk toward the left or right after leaving the main entrance of the airport?

We're staying in the Gueliz area and I read in one guidebook that this bus runs there.

Any information would help.
Thanks!

Marrakesh Weather in Marrakech-late Sept
Posted: Tue September 15, 2009 03:53 PM UTC
Hi everyone!

I'm arriving in Marrakech this coming Sunday and was orignally bringing lightweight skirts/pants. But I've noticed online that it's rather cool at night and not real hot during the day.
Is it normally this cool this time of year?
Could it heat back up?

Thanks for any information.

Marrakesh villa for the winter in Marrakech
Posted: Fri September 4, 2009 11:17 AM UTC
Hi there,
I'm an author, looking to rent a villa/appartment for Nov/Dec/Jan and Feb in Marrakech. My budget is about 500 euros a month. Does anybody know anywhere I could rent for that? I am looking for somewhere with a fireplace and where I can hire domestic help too. I will have my baby daughter with me, and am looking for some childcare as well.
Does this budget sound realistic?
Does anybody know where I can find a villa/apartment?
Does anybody have any comments about Marrakech as a winter destination for a writer? I will stay indoors most of the time - but need to be toasty. Was also thinking of the High Atlas, as maybe they have better fires!

Marrakesh Marrakech, Ouarzazate & Erg Chebbi with a child
Posted: Sun August 23, 2009 07:40 PM UTC
Hi,

We have a 3 year old who will be going with us to Marrakech in December this year.

We are wondering, is it possible to do a tour from Marrakech to Ouarzazate & Erg Chebbi that's child friendly? We would still like to do some camel riding at Erg Chebbi. Is this possible with such a young child?

Also can anyone recommend a reliable tour for us? We hope to do a 2 to 4 day tour of Ouarzazate & Erg Chebbi, from Marrakech.

Thanks.

Marrakesh Single female traveller trekking from Marrakesh
Posted: Mon August 17, 2009 12:15 PM UTC
Hello,

I'm planning to fly to Marrakesh around the end of October, and stay in Morocco for 9 days or so.

I would very like to join a trekking group for a 3-5 days trip, and spend the rest of the time travelling around the country.
Most trekking organizing websites however stated that it requires two minimum booking spaces.

Could anyone please suggest an organization that takes in single travellers, and does not cost an arm and a leg?

Many Thanks,

April

Marrakesh Help! best way to and from Marrakesh (from casablanca) for single female ?
Posted: Sun July 26, 2009 10:03 AM UTC
Hi there
I plan to go there as a single female traveller in mid December. am tryong to figure out how best to get to marrakech from Casablanca and back (as my flight lands in Casa and I also have to fly out of cAsa on return leg). Have read that train is best but i have a big suitcase and hand luggage to deal with and that can be a pain for a single female traveller to handle.

How friendly are the train station at Casa and Marrakesh? Are they on level ground or do they have steps? Thought abt taking the plane too but read that the air flights are often subject to delays.

Also, i read that train tickets have to be bought only in Morroco! Is there anyway to get my tix in advance online? Seems bit if a risk to arrive in Casa and then buy my train ticket for next day departure. As this holiday is my one break this year, I wld hate to get stuck in Casa and be unable to arrive in Maarakesh as planned.

Am open to all options maybe booking a taxi if it's not too expensvie? (Does anyone know how much it costs and if I can just book a taxi upon arrival?) am wondering what's the best way as i don't drive? will really appreciate VTers advice on this bit on transportation between casa and marrakech. What's the best and most convenient way to travel to Marrakexh with minimum fuss?:) Thanks all!

Hi guys,
first trip to Morroco. What is the best way to go from Casablanca to Marrakech? I like to avoid flying if possible. Are there train lines? Do you think it is a good idea to rent a car and do the drive myself? I never been.

Marrakesh Official Guide in Marrakech, any idea of price?
Posted: Wed May 6, 2009 05:43 PM UTC
Off to Marrakech in two weeks. Would anyone know what price we should expect to pay to hire an official guide for the day? Our riad is quoting us 60 euros, which seems a bit steep. Also, what is the best way to book an official guide directly?
