Tangier Rent a car in Tanger, Fes or Meknes?
Posted: Fri February 10, 2006 05:07 PM UTC
Hi!

I plan to arrive in Tanger and travel around some 10-12 days by car. I also depart from Tanger. From financial point of view, is it more feasible to rent a car (the cheapest possible) in Tanger or to go to Fes (or Meknes) by bus or train and look for a car there?
Could anyone please share some practical info on rental prices in Tanger, in Fes and in Meknes and on the places where thos prices were found.

Thanks in advance!

Tangier chefchouen page?
Posted: Sun January 22, 2006 09:21 PM UTC
Just a quick question to the editor of this page or whoever is involved...but why is there not a page for CHEFCHOUEN on VT..or is there but under a different spelling? Ive just come back from there and loved it and would like to write about it under its own heading rather than just Tangier...hope to get some good news about that soon!

Thankyou very much!

Tangier thanks

Thank you for your help. I actually have read through 2 guide books for Morocco and skimmed through a few others, as well as doing Internet searches but was not getting the information I needed. Besides, a book is one thing but personal experience is generally better.
Thanks so much for your help.

Tangier ferry schedules
Posted: Thu January 12, 2006 06:12 PM UTC
Hello,
me again. I am wondering if anyone knows what the ferry schedule is like from Gibraltar to Tanger on a Sunday? I need to know what time they start and how often they run. I have been unable to find a timetable schedule anywhere on the internet (even on the ferry website). We plan to cross on April 30th and return on the evening of May 2 or early May 3.

Tangier accomodations & travelling by public transportation/foot
Posted: Thu January 12, 2006 05:15 PM UTC
My husband and I will be visiting Tangier on our way to Fez from Spain. We plan on staying overnight in Gibraltar and then taking the ferry to Tangier and then the train to Fez. Can anyone tell me how easy it is to get around without a guide and without a car? Is it easy to get from the ferry to the train station? Are they close to one another?
Can anyone recommend a clean hotel with no water problems close to the train station? We are not certain if we will stop in Tanger on our way to Fez, or on the way back, or both.
Is the train station far from the Kasbah and other touristy destinations? Is it easy enough to get to these locations when you are not with a guide with a vehicle?
Also, are dinhars or Euros preferred for money? I have heard mixed things.
One more question: how safe is it to travel and arrive via ferry or train during the night?
Any tips or assistance with these questions would be greatly appreciated!

Posted: Mon December 19, 2005 03:16 PM UTC
As we are only in Morocco for a day and a half (ferry from Spain)..rather than spending half the time haggling etc could you please give me an approx idea of prices of a guide showing you round tangier/price of a car for the whole day taking us to chefchouaen/caves etc and also any recommended guides/drivers etc.
Also I LOVE food so any restaurants recommended would be good.
We are coming next week for xmas - can't wait!

Tangier Tangier Restaurant + Mad Popeye Chef
Posted: Tue December 13, 2005 05:56 PM UTC
Does anybody know the name of or has been to this restaurant. It was a small Moroccan food restaurant (set meals of various courses at set prices) just down the hill from the El Minza Hotel. The chef was a character. He took people into his back room of natural potions and artifacts and people went away with fans and all sorts of rubbish he gave them. He resembled Popeye.

Tangier Do you really need a guide?
Posted: Sun December 11, 2005 10:48 PM UTC
I've been reading online as well as Fodors, Lonely Planet and Rick Steeves and they all say that you need a guide in Tangiers. I really don't want to get stuck seeing a guides recommendations and would prefer to be on my own.

so... is it safe? I'd like to hear from people who have visited tangier without a guide. Thanks!

Tangier Visa requirement for Trinidad and Tobago citizens to enter Morocco
Posted: Wed October 26, 2005 03:25 PM UTC
Is there a visa requirement for a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago to enter Morocco? And if yes, does anyone know the visa application process and where it can be done prior to leaving Trinidad and Tobago?

There is no Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Trinidad and Tobago or in any other Caribbean country for that matter. I leave Trinidad on December 13 for Europe and plan to do a day trip to Tangier somewhere around the third week in December, so I would greatly appreciate feedback soon.

Thanks

Tangier Cheap ferry tickets? AND Rent a car, take our own car or bus/taxi?
Posted: Sun September 25, 2005 05:13 PM UTC
There are four of us that want to do a short trip in a day and a half at the end of October... arrive from Spain, visit Chefchouen, then Larache and Asilah, sleeping overnight, then back to Spain. Should we
1) take our own car over to Morrocco
2) rent a car once we get to Morrocco (seems not much rentals though!)
3) use a combination of buses and taxis?
What port of entry would be best for each option.
Also I hears that it is possible to pick up ferry tickets cheapers from agents than from the ferries themselves/ True?
THanks

Tangier Trains to Fes
Posted: Tue August 16, 2005 08:01 PM UTC
We are thinking of taking the ferry from Algeciras to Tangier and then
taking a train immediately to Fes. I think there is a 9am train to Fes. If the first ferry out of Algeciras is at 7:00am do we have enough time to make the 9am train to Fes. Thanks for your help.

Tangier Travelling From Miami to Tangiers
Posted: Thu June 9, 2005 05:20 AM UTC
I am planing a trip to Tangiers from Miami. I will either go from Miami to Madrid, Madrid to Malaga by plane, and find a way to get Algeciras (either by bus or train) and take the ferry to Tangiers. Or I will be take a flight from Miami to Madrid, Madrid to casablanca and rent a car and drive to Tangiers.

I can't decide which way I should go there. Option one looks more interesting and adventerous but those connections makes me a little worried. I was wondering if it is easy to get Algeciras from malaga by train or bus and if it is easy to find a seat at the ferry? Which way should I take? and any tips on how I should travel from malaga to tangiers are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading

Tangier Prebooking tangier - algeciras ferries
Posted: Sun May 15, 2005 12:43 AM UTC
Hi,

I'm travelling out from Algeciras to Tangier on the 21st August which i think is a Moroccan national holiday. Im travelling back on the 6th Sept. Will all the ferries be booked up, or can I risk it as it's towards the end of the busy tourist season?
If I do need to prebook, can anyone recommend a good ferry company? Ideally, are there any companies that offer a flexible ticket in case of flight/train delays etc?

Thanks for your help

Tangier Any need to prebook a ferry ticket?
Posted: Sat April 23, 2005 08:21 AM UTC
Hi, Im travelling to morocco via algeciras in July, and was wondering if it was possible to just turn up at the port + get a ticket, without needing to prebook.

I heard there is a service about every hour, so would it be ok to just turn up at a random time and wait for the next ferry??

Also, do the seperate ferry services require seperate ticket, or does the same ticket work for all providers?

Finally, does the same apply for the return trip from Tangiers back to Algeciras?

Thanks!

Tangier Overnight in Tangier
Posted: Thu April 14, 2005 01:31 PM UTC
My husband & I are taking our teenaged granddaughters on a trip to southern Spain early in June. We arrive in Malaga around noon on Friday, and have two nights (Friday & Saturday) before we check into the resort where we'll be based. We're interested in going to Tangier. Any suggestions? Is this a good idea? Do we need to engage a tour guide or can we go independently? Any recommendations re: hotels? Thanks so much.

Tangier Algerciras to Tangier - Looking for a cheap but safe hostel and how much do taxis cost?
Posted: Fri April 8, 2005 02:00 AM UTC
Hello:
I would like to visit a friend on May 02/05 in the Tangiers Ferry station. How much are taxis? This is an area where tourists often get ripped off. How many Euros ? Less than a 1 dollar? I am Canadian so I want to be fair. Also in case I do not meet my friend is there an inexpensive place to rent a hotel room in Tangier that is safe for women? Like an inexpensive seminary?
By the way a cheap tip:
For those travelling to southern France, specifically Nimes there is a priest seminary that is cheap to stay at and includes breakfast. Highly recommended for those who want to visit the Southern France cheap.
Bratislava in Slovakia was a cheap city to visit in Eastern Europe. I am not sure now since the EU has joined forces. But at the time a very good place to go. Less than an hour away from Vienna, I think an hour away from Budapest and one hour away from Prague. Excellent place to go to visit Europe. At the time I was able to live in Bratislava for about $400 Canadian a month (too much for Slovaks but good for me) in my own apartment. Of course as I came to know Slovaks I paid 2000 Slovak crowns for a room with a Slovak family. I was able to teach English and with the pay I made I paid for my accommodation. At the time I made 20,000 Slovak crowns per month (average pay) not much but it did manage to tide me over for food and accommodation. This was in 2003. I am not sure how it is now. I would be curious to know.
Thanks

Tangier Day trip to Tangier
Posted: Wed February 23, 2005 08:15 PM UTC
My friends and I would like to take a day tour of Tangier from Marbella on March 14 (Monday). Are there any tours that include transport from Marbella (through Algeciras) all the way to Tangier? Can you direct me to any websites? We would like to book ahead of time because we will be arriving in Marbella late Sunday night and have no time to book with a tour agent there.

Thanks!

Tangier Visiting Tangiers
Posted: Wed November 3, 2004 01:25 PM UTC
Hi everyone,
I am planning to visit southern Spain over Christmas and plan to take a trip to Tangier to spend at least one night there. Can anyone offer some advice on a good hotel.. I am not planning to spend a fortune but am willing to spend up to 50 euro, maybe a little more if gets me something really special or unique (or with a lovely view of the sea)? Of course I would happily pay less for a nice place if you know of one ;o)

Also, does anyone know of a good site with a city map of Tangier? I am having trouble finding one.

I will be in Tangier around the 23rd or 24th of December and wondering what the typical weather would be like??

If anyone might know of a place in Algecirus that I would be able to place my backpack in a storage locker, that would be appreciated as I would like to travel with just a small bag to Tangier.

Thanks in advance for your help.
