advice on 1-day stop in..... Posted: Sun November 5, 2006 10:18 AM UTC
I am taking my mother on a cruise next September and would like advice of what to see during our short time in each port. We will be visiting
Amsterdam, Netherlands (multi-days)
Zeebrugge, Belgium (8a - 530p)
LaHavre, France (7a - 10p)
La Coruna, Spain (7a - 3p)
Lisbon, Portugal (12n - 6p)
Tangier, Morocco (12n - 7p)
Barcelona, Spain (multi-days)
I've been to Barcelona so any non-touristy suggestions would be nice so I could see something new.
I'm questioning going to Brussels or seeing Brugge and Zeebrugge.
And in France, it's 2.5hrs each way to Paris... should we opt for Versaille or Normandy or somewhere else instead?
ANY suggestions are appreciated!!! Thanks guys!!

Hotels in Tangier Posted: Tue October 10, 2006 07:24 PM UTC
Any suggestions for a hotel in the centre of Tangier. We want it to be as cheap as possible and don't care too much what its like! We're there on 5th for the night (or maybe 2 nights).
What are best things to do in the evening? I hear that the nightclubs aren't exactly 'authentic', is it best to stick to hotel bars?
Thanks

Ferry from Tarifa or Algeciras to Tangier Posted: Thu August 24, 2006 04:35 PM UTC
We are a party of 4 adults traveling from Marbella, Spain to Trangier for a day trip in early October.
Which is the better ferry route - out of Algeciras or Tarifa?
Does anyone have the name of a good guide? We are not interested in the snakes or the camels!
Any other suggestions would be great!
Thanks

couple of questions for those who travelled Posted: Wed July 19, 2006 06:32 PM UTC
All the websites say you can't prebook overnighter with couchettes from Tangier to Morocco outside of the country and you can't get them on the day of your journey. Is that true, cuz that's what I want to do.
Second thing..do ferries from Tangier to Gibraltar go on a daily basis (what time - in August)cuz I couldn't find it anywhere. I know it's easier to go to Algeciras the thing is on my way back I wanna spend the day in Gibraltar and the hit to Fuengirola ( can you recommend the bus?)
Thank you so much in advance...I can't wait to get out from ***ty London.

Is Tangier/Morocco safe for women travelling alone? Posted: Sat May 13, 2006 07:19 AM UTC
Hi guys, I have a friend in Tangier wanting me to visit him, so I am not concerned about when I would be with him and his family, but I keep hearing about the fact that Morocco being a Muslim country is not friendly at all when it comes to women, and I do have to get there myself, and I will have my 6 year old daughter with me, so i am concerned.. any advice? can anyone give me an idea of what to expect, what i should wear or not wear etc?? These are questions I would never think about normally...should I be thinking about covering up??? if so.. not going!

trip from spain to morocco Posted: Sun April 9, 2006 09:03 AM UTC
Hi everyone!
Me and one my friend are going to have a trip to Morocco in the begining of July 2006. We are going from Estonia by plane to Spain (probably to Barcelona) and then want to go to the place where may take a ferry and to get to Morocco. Can anyone tell us, from what place its better, easier and to get to Morocco? How much it will cost?
I had heard that there are buses what goes from Spain to Morocco... from Malaga? Where we may find them and how much it costs? Or its better to go by ferry by ourselves? When we reach Morocco, how we can get to another town? Will there be a bus station or something like that?
And also one more important question.. we dont speak spanish or french... will English language be usefull enough there or we have to think something out too?

Guide recommendations Posted: Thu April 6, 2006 02:00 PM UTC
Hi All
We are planning on visiting Tangiers for a day whilst in Spain this summer. As we have two young children we want to keep hassle to a minimum so have concluded we would be better off having an accompanying guide. Is anyyone able to recommend a reputable guide taht we can get in touch with and book via email for a day's tour.
We are travelling independently so will not be able to book a tour through a holiday company.
Thanks for any help

Rent a car in Tanger, Fes or Meknes? Posted: Fri February 10, 2006 06:07 PM UTC
Hi!
I plan to arrive in Tanger and travel around some 10-12 days by car. I also depart from Tanger. From financial point of view, is it more feasible to rent a car (the cheapest possible) in Tanger or to go to Fes (or Meknes) by bus or train and look for a car there?
Could anyone please share some practical info on rental prices in Tanger, in Fes and in Meknes and on the places where thos prices were found.
Thanks in advance!

chefchouen page? Posted: Sun January 22, 2006 10:21 PM UTC
Just a quick question to the editor of this page or whoever is involved...but why is there not a page for CHEFCHOUEN on VT..or is there but under a different spelling? Ive just come back from there and loved it and would like to write about it under its own heading rather than just Tangier...hope to get some good news about that soon!
Thankyou very much!

Thank you for your help. I actually have read through 2 guide books for Morocco and skimmed through a few others, as well as doing Internet searches but was not getting the information I needed. Besides, a book is one thing but personal experience is generally better.
Thanks so much for your help.

ferry schedules Posted: Thu January 12, 2006 07:12 PM UTC
Hello,
me again. I am wondering if anyone knows what the ferry schedule is like from Gibraltar to Tanger on a Sunday? I need to know what time they start and how often they run. I have been unable to find a timetable schedule anywhere on the internet (even on the ferry website). We plan to cross on April 30th and return on the evening of May 2 or early May 3.

accomodations & travelling by public transportation/foot Posted: Thu January 12, 2006 06:15 PM UTC
My husband and I will be visiting Tangier on our way to Fez from Spain. We plan on staying overnight in Gibraltar and then taking the ferry to Tangier and then the train to Fez. Can anyone tell me how easy it is to get around without a guide and without a car? Is it easy to get from the ferry to the train station? Are they close to one another?
Can anyone recommend a clean hotel with no water problems close to the train station? We are not certain if we will stop in Tanger on our way to Fez, or on the way back, or both.
Is the train station far from the Kasbah and other touristy destinations? Is it easy enough to get to these locations when you are not with a guide with a vehicle?
Also, are dinhars or Euros preferred for money? I have heard mixed things.
One more question: how safe is it to travel and arrive via ferry or train during the night?
Any tips or assistance with these questions would be greatly appreciated!

Idea of Costings Posted: Mon December 19, 2005 04:16 PM UTC
As we are only in Morocco for a day and a half (ferry from Spain)..rather than spending half the time haggling etc could you please give me an approx idea of prices of a guide showing you round tangier/price of a car for the whole day taking us to chefchouaen/caves etc and also any recommended guides/drivers etc.
Also I LOVE food so any restaurants recommended would be good.
We are coming next week for xmas - can't wait!

Tangier Restaurant + Mad Popeye Chef Posted: Tue December 13, 2005 06:56 PM UTC
Does anybody know the name of or has been to this restaurant. It was a small Moroccan food restaurant (set meals of various courses at set prices) just down the hill from the El Minza Hotel. The chef was a character. He took people into his back room of natural potions and artifacts and people went away with fans and all sorts of rubbish he gave them. He resembled Popeye.

Do you really need a guide? Posted: Sun December 11, 2005 11:48 PM UTC
I've been reading online as well as Fodors, Lonely Planet and Rick Steeves and they all say that you need a guide in Tangiers. I really don't want to get stuck seeing a guides recommendations and would prefer to be on my own.
so... is it safe? I'd like to hear from people who have visited tangier without a guide. Thanks!

Visa requirement for Trinidad and Tobago citizens to enter Morocco Posted: Wed October 26, 2005 04:25 PM UTC
Is there a visa requirement for a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago to enter Morocco? And if yes, does anyone know the visa application process and where it can be done prior to leaving Trinidad and Tobago?
There is no Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Trinidad and Tobago or in any other Caribbean country for that matter. I leave Trinidad on December 13 for Europe and plan to do a day trip to Tangier somewhere around the third week in December, so I would greatly appreciate feedback soon.
Thanks

Fishing In Marroco Posted: Sun October 16, 2005 09:35 PM UTC
I live on the southern coast of Spain. and I am expecting a visit form an old friend on Thursday this week. We have always dreamed of going big game fishing or even just deep see fishing / wreck fishing either from marroco, Portugal or even here in Spain.
So far I have only found extermely expensive options here in Spain and thought maybe I should look at Marrocco (Tangier) I would be so grateful if someone out tehre could help me find somewhere where I could make this possible with my old friend.
Any suggestions are more than wwelcome.

Cheap ferry tickets? AND Rent a car, take our own car or bus/taxi? Posted: Sun September 25, 2005 06:13 PM UTC
There are four of us that want to do a short trip in a day and a half at the end of October... arrive from Spain, visit Chefchouen, then Larache and Asilah, sleeping overnight, then back to Spain. Should we
1) take our own car over to Morrocco
2) rent a car once we get to Morrocco (seems not much rentals though!)
3) use a combination of buses and taxis?
What port of entry would be best for each option.
Also I hears that it is possible to pick up ferry tickets cheapers from agents than from the ferries themselves/ True?
THanks

Trains to Fes Posted: Tue August 16, 2005 09:01 PM UTC
We are thinking of taking the ferry from Algeciras to Tangier and then
taking a train immediately to Fes. I think there is a 9am train to Fes. If the first ferry out of Algeciras is at 7:00am do we have enough time to make the 9am train to Fes. Thanks for your help.
