Tangier what to do in morocco.
Posted: Mon May 5, 2008 06:13 AM UTC
My friend and I (two young women) are planning to travel to morocco, first stopping in tangier and then traveling on to casablanca. We do not really have any idea which cities are the most interesting and possibly safest. Is it more worth while to stay an extra day in tangier or casablanca. We have three days. Would other cities like fes, meknes, or rabat give us a better experience into moroccan culture? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Tangier Camel Rides in Tangier
Posted: Fri May 2, 2008 12:34 AM UTC
Our ship docks in Tangier for one day. We have a tour scheduled until 1pm; the ship doesn't leave until 8pm. What is our best option for a camel ride on the beach? I've read that if we go to Tangier Beach you can ride a camel, no reservations required. Is that true?

Tangier Tangier
Posted: Wed March 5, 2008 08:54 AM UTC
Hi all.

I will be spending 3 nights in Tangier in April. Going to take the trip in from Gibraltar. Where would everyone recomend to stay and what to do and see. I am looking to stay somewhere nice but not too expensive. Possibly central as I am not sure to hire a car or not ? Is that recommedable ? I was in Tangier over 10 years ago on a day trip that was organised with tour reps and am thinking on doing it alone this time with my wife and without the rep. Will I encounter any problems doing this ? Any tips welcome ;-) How much spending money would be needed ? I want to sample lots of the local food ( Not hotel food ). What sort of weather can I expect in the middle of April ?
No doubt yous will hear from me shortly again ;-)

Cruise ship will be in Tangier one day only but would be interested in ferry or hydrofoil to Gibraltar. What is best way to arrange it? Is a guide necessary or can we do it ourselves? Will ferries and/or hydrofoil be running in October?

Any information much appreciated.

My family is interested in taking the ferry from Algeciras to Tangier this December. Does anyone know if it runs in the winter? The only ferry schedules I can find online seem to end in mid-September.

Tangier Visit Tangier without tour or guide?
Posted: Wed June 27, 2007 04:08 PM UTC
My family and I (husband, two older teens, me) will be visiting Spain and we are wondering if it is possible to visit Tangier (via Tarifa) on our own without an organized tour or guide. An organized tour seems to have nothing of value for us - we don't like tour buses, don't want to do the camel ride, hate to shop, don't need a new rug, hate being held captive by organized activities. We just want to set out on our own with a map of the town and a guidebook, take the petit taxis to wherever we want to go, visit the Kasbah, a couple of museums, eat lunch, walk around town. Yes, we realize that we'll be hassled by street vendors, but from what I've read that happens whether or not you are on a tour or with a guide. Has anyone done Tangier on their own, and are we crazy to even think of doing this?

Tangier Granada to Fez
Posted: Fri March 23, 2007 06:38 AM UTC
Just checking if there is enough time to catch a bus in Granada get to Tarifa or Algeciras get on Ferry to Tangier and take a train to Fez in a day.

Or should i stay a night in Algerciras or Tarifa or Tangier.

From Fez should i go back the same way (going to Seville instead of Granada instead) or do you recommend the train down to Marrakech and ferry from there to Algerciras (is Fez a big enough experience of Morocco or is there other amazing things in Marrakech as well?)

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Cheers

Tangier tangier to spain
Posted: Fri January 5, 2007 07:38 PM UTC
Taking a trip to Marrakech, Morocco and would like to travel to Spain, specifically over to Ibiza. What is the best way to get from Morocco to Ibiza? I was planning on taking a train from Marrakech to Tangier, then a ferry from Tangier to Gibraltar, then onto Valencia or Javea by train where I can take another ferry to Ibiza. Or is there a plane I can take direct from Marrakech to Ibiza?

Tangier advice on 1-day stop in.....
Posted: Sun November 5, 2006 09:18 AM UTC
I am taking my mother on a cruise next September and would like advice of what to see during our short time in each port. We will be visiting
Amsterdam, Netherlands (multi-days)
Zeebrugge, Belgium (8a - 530p)
LaHavre, France (7a - 10p)
La Coruna, Spain (7a - 3p)
Lisbon, Portugal (12n - 6p)
Tangier, Morocco (12n - 7p)
Barcelona, Spain (multi-days)

I've been to Barcelona so any non-touristy suggestions would be nice so I could see something new.
I'm questioning going to Brussels or seeing Brugge and Zeebrugge.
And in France, it's 2.5hrs each way to Paris... should we opt for Versaille or Normandy or somewhere else instead?
ANY suggestions are appreciated!!! Thanks guys!!

Tangier Hotels in Tangier
Posted: Tue October 10, 2006 06:24 PM UTC
Any suggestions for a hotel in the centre of Tangier. We want it to be as cheap as possible and don't care too much what its like! We're there on 5th for the night (or maybe 2 nights).

What are best things to do in the evening? I hear that the nightclubs aren't exactly 'authentic', is it best to stick to hotel bars?

Thanks

Does anyone have the name of a good guide? We are not interested in the snakes or the camels!
Any other suggestions would be great!

Tangier couple of questions for those who travelled
Posted: Wed July 19, 2006 05:32 PM UTC
All the websites say you can't prebook overnighter with couchettes from Tangier to Morocco outside of the country and you can't get them on the day of your journey. Is that true, cuz that's what I want to do.

Second thing..do ferries from Tangier to Gibraltar go on a daily basis (what time - in August)cuz I couldn't find it anywhere. I know it's easier to go to Algeciras the thing is on my way back I wanna spend the day in Gibraltar and the hit to Fuengirola ( can you recommend the bus?)

Thank you so much in advance...I can't wait to get out from ***ty London.

Tangier Is Tangier/Morocco safe for women travelling alone?
Posted: Sat May 13, 2006 06:19 AM UTC
Hi guys, I have a friend in Tangier wanting me to visit him, so I am not concerned about when I would be with him and his family, but I keep hearing about the fact that Morocco being a Muslim country is not friendly at all when it comes to women, and I do have to get there myself, and I will have my 6 year old daughter with me, so i am concerned.. any advice? can anyone give me an idea of what to expect, what i should wear or not wear etc?? These are questions I would never think about normally...should I be thinking about covering up??? if so.. not going!

Tangier trip from spain to morocco
Posted: Sun April 9, 2006 08:03 AM UTC
Hi everyone!
Me and one my friend are going to have a trip to Morocco in the begining of July 2006. We are going from Estonia by plane to Spain (probably to Barcelona) and then want to go to the place where may take a ferry and to get to Morocco. Can anyone tell us, from what place its better, easier and to get to Morocco? How much it will cost?

I had heard that there are buses what goes from Spain to Morocco... from Malaga? Where we may find them and how much it costs? Or its better to go by ferry by ourselves? When we reach Morocco, how we can get to another town? Will there be a bus station or something like that?

And also one more important question.. we dont speak spanish or french... will English language be usefull enough there or we have to think something out too?

Tangier Guide recommendations
Posted: Thu April 6, 2006 01:00 PM UTC
Hi All

We are planning on visiting Tangiers for a day whilst in Spain this summer. As we have two young children we want to keep hassle to a minimum so have concluded we would be better off having an accompanying guide. Is anyyone able to recommend a reputable guide taht we can get in touch with and book via email for a day's tour.

We are travelling independently so will not be able to book a tour through a holiday company.

Thanks for any help
Simon
