Canon Ixus 60 Digital Camera stolen in Adabraka Posted: Fri January 23, 2009 03:27 PM UTC
A few weeks ago I was in Ghana and got robbed by some area boys on motorcycles in the Adabraka area. My bag was stolen with my camera in it. The week before that I had been in Nigeria and took over 200 pictures... I am just posting this in case anyone that frequents this forum is offered my camera for sale in Accra... I am not really bothered about the camera, it is just the pictures on the SD card that I am concerned about. So should anyone come accross a silver canon Ixus 60 with three nicks on the screen pleeeeease contact me!!!

going to Ghana in February 2008 Posted: Thu January 15, 2009 06:56 PM UTC
Hello everybody,
I am married to a Ghanian guy who lived most of his life in Europe.I said this because he is not helping me about Ghana so I decided to ask you.
We are going to Accra to visit his family.
I am wondering what things I should do there. Is it safe me and my daughter to go around without him.
Is there big shopping centres to get food for my 6 years old daughter as she is a pain when it comes to food:).
we will stay 10 days. Please tell me which places I should see.
Thanks

Mid-Range Hotels in Osu, Accra Posted: Tue October 14, 2008 11:34 AM UTC
I will be in Accra at the beginning of November, and I would like to stay in the Osu area.
Can anyone recommend any good mid-range hotels off the strip (Cantonments Road)?
So far, Niagara Plus Hotel and Blue Hotel look okay, but I was wondering if there were any others.
Thanks,
Barry

Coming to Accra 19th October Posted: Thu October 2, 2008 10:42 AM UTC
This will by my first time in Accra. There's seem good tips on VT, but much of it seems dated (circa 2004). Can anyone give advice about things to do/where to go - especially re. beaches, restaurants/bars , attractions? With about a aweek to spend, I hope to pick up at least some of the vibe and atmosphere of this city.

Salsa in Accra Posted: Wed May 30, 2007 01:22 AM UTC
Will be visiting the city soon and would like to know if there are any good salsa dancing venues on the weekend. I know of the coconut groove hotel on wednesdays but nothing for friday, sat or sunday evenings! Surely there has to be more than one venue in Accra.

re customs declaration money Posted: Tue July 11, 2006 09:58 AM UTC
I have a lady friend who lives in Accra. She has a Greek (EU) passport
and originally intended to travel yesterday to live with me in England.
When she purchased ticket she was referred to customs who asked about
customs declaration money. She had to produce evidence that she has £1000 becore
she was allowed to travel. She only had £500 but also a letter of invitation
from me stating that I would be responsible for her accommodation, upkeep and
travel etc during her time with me. They still would not accept this as sufficient. I was surprised that they were so inflexible. Can you confirm to
me if this the law in Ghana (that a travelling passenger leaving Ghana has to
have a minimum of £1000 before being allowed to leave.
thank you

I am thinking of visting Accra and I wanted to know how accessibile Accra is to people in wheelchairs.
I use a 300lb powerchair (non-foldable) and I'm looking for information on- - Accessable transportation - general and vans in particular - local within Accra mainly + visiting nearby areas. - How accessable are hotels, shopping, tourist places, night clubs/bars - Attitudes in Ghann re disabled people (i.e Are they likely to help or hinder?)

travel to Ghana, Africa Posted: Thu October 16, 2003 03:00 PM UTC
I will be travelling to Ghana in November 2003. Any suggestions on best hotels (cheap!) restaurants, places to see? I am visiting a friend who lives there so will have a local familiar with all areas of the country, but most of my time will be in Accra or Takoradi.

accra, help!!!! Posted: Tue October 7, 2003 07:32 PM UTC
Are there any other travellers who will be in Ghana for November or December?
For those who know Ghana, is Accra safe for a fair, blue-eyed, femalee, single travellor? Or for any woman not accustomed to the culture? Is there a way to get around inexxpensively, yet safely without having to depend on first class hotels, restaurants, and taxis.
Are the notices put out by the U.S and Candadian forriegn affairs people just a precuation, or is unexpected violence escalating. I understand that in the past Ghana has been safe, and that Ghanians are hospitable people, but are these new threats random rare acts, or should they be expected and will become the new norm?
Robberies do happen everywhere, and anywhere in the wold where tourists are, there will be more risk, but I am trying to judge what to expect for Accra. What is prudent?
