Hi Guys

I'll be travelling to Uzbekistan in the first week of May for 2 weeks. Can any one help me in searching budget accomodations in Tashkent, Samarkend and Bukhara. Please guide me the best possible sites to visit as I'll be there for two weeks. Do I have to make registration with police after I reach Tashkent or so.

Besides what are the customs to visit traditional Uzbek Families. What sort of gifts to be taken to there homes. Any cultural things or other info someone wanna share with me.

Uzbekistan Samarkand Khiva and Bukhara Khiva Distance
Posted: Sat November 10, 2007 10:33 AM UTC
Hi All,

I happen to travel to Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara through some program that completely finance my trip. I also heard that Khiva is a very interesting place to visit where my program does not finance a travel. Is it really worth visiting? And if so, can anyone advise how long it takes to get there from Samarkand, Tashent or Bukhara? and from where it is better to travel Samarkand, Bukhara or Tashkent?

Thanks all and hi from Georgia

Posted: Wed July 18, 2007 04:11 PM UTC
Hello to all,I need to pick your brain for some info.
1st-I would like to have some advices on places to sleep along the way.My needs are simple, clean,in room bathroom,at least a fan,and a friendly and helpful staff of course paying less is better but willing to pay more if worthed.
I'll go from Taskent-Samarkand-shakhrisabz-Bukhara-Khiva-Nukus_Urgench-Taskent.
2nd-How long by city should I give myself (conservative, since I don't like to rush too much)
3rd-Any food that I should absolutely try.
4th-If you would have to choose markets or bazaars to visit which ones would they be.
Thanks a million.

We are already appling visa for all 5 but the only one that is

as I called embassy they need letter of invitation.
as I read on "lonely planet" travel guide book there are some travel agencies (on tashkent) that they can help me by sending me LOI I was wondering
if I can get any help from the VT members to find any list of these travel agencies to get LOI by them I found some in the mentioned book but just less of their emails are accessible then I`m not able to do it by my self .

I hope some freinds on VT can help me about this matter .

I'm just wondering if any canadian passport holder has tried recently to get a visa for travel to Uzbekistan, and what their experience was.or any resident in canada they try.

I'm hoping it's not as difficult as I fear it is!

Thanks in advance for any experience or guidance you can provide.

Uzbekistan wether in summer
Posted: Tue May 15, 2007 06:55 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm interested in visiting Uzbekistan in summer, but would like to know if it is too hot for that. What do locals do? Is everybody just resting during pick hours or is it possible to walk around the city (I'd be travelling by myself).
Need some reliable info. Thanks.
Does letter of invitation and visa cost the same everywhere you look? If not does anybody know any cheap agency?

Uzbekistan Uzbekistan embroidery
Posted: Wed April 25, 2007 01:50 PM UTC
I have become interested in Usbek embroidery. Some time ago I went to the Bazar in Istanbul and saw some of these charming embroideryes. Now I wonder. Are there any one in Uzbekistan I could contact to buy these "carpets" or suzanis or what you call them. Now that the net is here maybe I won`t have to travel all the way. I live in Copenhagen, Sorry for my bad english.

Kind regards
