Cairo Layover is Cairo
Posted: Sat July 4, 2009 04:56 PM UTC
I have a layover in Cairo that will allow just 5 hours in the city. Would that be enough time to visit the Pyramids? What mode of transportation would be best? Thank you!

Cairo How to enter Al Azhar Park??
Posted: Wed July 1, 2009 07:08 AM UTC
Is the only entrance on Salah Salem road? Are people allowed to walk to the entrance? The reason I ask is because the Lonely Planet book says you have to take a taxi to go to the park. I want to know if I can walk there from the downtown area, since it's only a few kilometers. Thanks!

Cairo Visit to Cairo With Local Tour Agent
Posted: Wed June 24, 2009 08:38 AM UTC
Hi,

I will be visiting Cairo on next weekend. I have chosen Ramses Travel Group of Eygpt to arrange for me the Tour & accomodation. The reasons being so far the communication was responsive & clear, Tour Programs looked interesting & detail to me & also the Agent whom I am interacting with has shown much flexibility to accomodate with my requests & help to solve my problem. So far so good, am happy with the good service. The rest has to be proven when I am in Cairo.

Has anybody else used their service before? Has anyone being to Cairo & can help to adivse me what I have to aware of when dealing with the Tour Agent there? I hope what I see now is also waht I am going to get later. Wish I can come back with some nice update to those who are interested later.

How much should we expect to pay for a cab in LE from the hotel to these locations?

How much will it be if we get a cab driver to do the following for a full day?

Cairo Need recommendations on hostels
Posted: Sun June 14, 2009 06:39 PM UTC
I'll be in Cairo for vacation on July 6-11 before going on business to India, and want to stay in a hostel or budget hotel, preferably in an area with lots of food and people to see and meet. I been to Cairo before but stayed at the Nile Hilton. This time I want to be with other travelers instead of being cooped up in a big hotel. Any recommendations or warnings would be appreciated. Thanks!

Cairo dependability of flight arrival times
Posted: Wed June 10, 2009 03:26 PM UTC
Hi
I am finding the information in these forums quite useful Thanks to all you take the time to participate.
Now my question..we fly ( on EgyptAir) from Luxor to Cairo "arriving in Cairo at 9:00 AM and then catch our flight ( on EgyptAir) to Rome at 11 AM. Are the flights from Luxor to Cairo run on time generally? Is the transfer from the domestic terminal to the international terminal easy?
I am mostly concerned about the flight from Luxor arriving in Cairo on time. Is that almost certain? :)
Thanks

Cairo Thanks! Now a question about location in Helwan!
Posted: Fri May 22, 2009 08:41 PM UTC
I've been looking up the address for the family I might be able to stay with and found that it seems that that street is full of businesses. It is Maraghy St. Would it be possible for a residence to be on that street? Or could this address be wrong?
I really appreciate it!

Cairo Opportunity to go to Cairo and I know nothing!
Posted: Thu May 21, 2009 06:48 PM UTC
I might have the chance to live in Cairo for 3 months, teaching English to a family and living with them. It would be in Helwan.
Can anybody tell me if this area is generally safe and a desirable place to stay?
I would be travelling as a single female with my daughter. Would this pose any problems?
Anything you can tell me would be great!

Cairo Cairo to Petra options???
Posted: Tue April 21, 2009 06:05 PM UTC
Currently in Cairo and want to work our way to Petra on our own without a tour. Can you advise me on land options?

I'd rather not fly into Amman to save money even though I know this saves time.
Here in Cairo they say bus to Nuweiba and then ferry to Aqaba. Why do they push this route and not Cairo-Taba? Ferry from Nuweiba is more expensive and bus to Nuweiba is longer route.

Does anyone know the latest info on the ferry from Taba to Aqaba? Can I purchase ticket once I arrive in Taba, do I need to reserve 24 hrs in advance with Sinbad (ferry operator) in Jordan, or can I only do this ferry crossing with pre-booked tour? I've heard all three but don't know which is true.

What about land only? Taba to Elat to Aqaba and then on to Petra? Anybody have any info on this route?

We are US citizens (no visa for Israel and visa on arrival in Jordan) and don't plan on going to Syria or other countries that have issues with Israel so the visa stamp is not an issue. Please help, we plan on doing this in the next couple of days. Thanks.

Cairo Airfare booking on Egypt Air: use an agent for cheaper rates?
Posted: Fri April 3, 2009 08:33 PM UTC
Hello,

I was wondering if booking airline tickets on Egyptair would be cheaper doing it online using Expedia or Orbitz or using a local agent in Egypt. I wasn't able to check it using Egyptair website.

I need airfare from Cairo/Amman/Aswan/Cairo/Barcelona.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Cairo Cairo Airport transportation and inexpensive tour guide - other tips
Posted: Tue March 31, 2009 10:29 PM UTC
We will be in Cairo for 3 days and need to figure out how to get from the Airport to Concorde Hotel Dokki the most convenient and inexpensive way and more importantly back to the Airport to catch a 5:30AM flight. I believe the Hotel is about 10-12k from the airport.

Also I understand our hotel is about a half K from the Egyptian Museum. So we will walk there However Any suggestions on getting the the Giza Pyramids & Sphinx. I read you can catch the subway to Giza station and then take a Taxi? Are there (or do we need) a guide to tour the Pyramids?

Thanks-

Cairo Assistance verifying address in Cairo
Posted: Sat March 28, 2009 03:02 AM UTC
All,

I'm trying to get in touch with an individual in Cairo, but need some assistance. This is the last address I have:

Robert Giusti
IZMIRLIAN BUILDING
ZAMALEK CAIRO

I know the address is incomplete, but I can't figure out the proper address. I can't find any record of a "Izmirlian Building". I also can't find any white pages online for Cairo.

Can anyone familiar with the area offer some assistance?

Thanks,
Matt
