Kawm ad Dahab Christmas time with children
Posted: Tue May 12, 2009 01:55 PM UTC
I am planing my christmas holiday and am thinking about going to Dahab with my 15 and 8 y.o. sons.
We like to swim and snorkel, eating seafood and pizza, playing soccer on the beach, do some shopping.
Do you think that Dahab will be the place for us to spend christmas and new years days with out daddy.
We are used to travel solo in Nicaragua and South America. I made the pady open water in swiss lakes and haven’t been diving for 10 years, perhap will try it again.
Do you know a small hotel, bed and breakfast on the beach, near the town center, that is children friendly, with a small swimming pool? We would also like to make the one or other excursion to the desert, not specially with camels, but perhaps overnight stay in the desert, or will december be to chilly?

Thanks for your help

Kawm ad Dahab No Smoking in Dahab??
Posted: Sat February 21, 2009 02:05 PM UTC
Here's an interesting (and, for us, important) question!

We're spending about a week in Dahab end March/early April with bed & breakfast at a small hotel in the Assalah area.

We're both non-smokers and as a mild asthma sufferer, my wife finds cigarette smoke particularly unpleasant.

Anyone know any Non-Smoking restaurants nearby? Presumably at this time of year the evening temperature will be too cool to eat out-of-doors?

Help, please, for two difficult travellers!

Kawm ad Dahab Around about Dahab
Posted: Mon October 20, 2008 01:14 PM UTC
Hi All,
I am arriving in Dahab Dec 6th 2008 for 37 nights. I am planning to have a relaxing time re-charging my batteries in the Red Sea sun. I am looking forward to doing some walking daily, ideally around 5 - 10 miles. My question is - is it safe to walk outside of the town, either along the coast, or inland on your own? If not are there any organised walks in the area?
Regards,
TJ

Kawm ad Dahab Rental apartment in Dahab
Posted: Wed October 24, 2007 11:59 PM UTC
My husband and I are spending the New Year in Dahab and would like a small, furnished apartment for 6 nights. We'd like to be near the beach and town so that we don't need transport. All sites I've looked at don't meet all criteria. Any suggestions?

Kawm ad Dahab Visa for Dahab
Posted: Tue May 1, 2007 11:33 AM UTC
Hi fellow vt'ers
i am going to Dahab in Nov with my fiance. We are uk citizens and want to know if we need a tourist visa. I have read that you dont need one if you are staying in Sharm El Sheikh or scuba diving in the surrounding area.

I know Dahab is about an hour from Sharm so wondered whether we would need one!

Thanks in advance,

Any body experience with a diving and surfing vacation at Dahab? Is there a good laid back spot where we can do both? I am looking for a place somewhere around dahab for the end of September.
What is the nightlife like? Is there any or will it be a hard-core healty diving/surfing holiday?

Thanks for the tips!

Kawm ad Dahab Dahab anyone? (end March / early April)
Posted: Sun February 26, 2006 03:41 PM UTC
Hi there, I'll be in Dahab on my own for a week, arriving March 27. Would be great to find some company from VT there. I'm not a diver and not so much into snorkeling, but would like to do some trips into the desert (Coloured Canyon, Ain Khudra, camel riding). I stay in a hotel in Mashraba.
Just drop me a mail...

Kawm ad Dahab What is there to do/see around Dahab?
Posted: Thu January 12, 2006 02:42 PM UTC
Hi, I'm in Dahab for another two weeks or so and I was wondering if someone could suggest things to do or see around Dahab besides diving and windsurfing.

Please note that we are traveling with a baby so shaky jeep or camel trips are out of the questions... the only thing I have found is the St. Catherine's monastery.

Anything else?

Kawm ad Dahab Diving and accommodation
Posted: Fri June 17, 2005 06:37 AM UTC
When I visit Egypt I plan to stay some days in Dahab for scuba diving. I have heard that Nesima Dive Centre is good and think of diving with them. But Nesima Resort is a bit too expensive to stay at, so I want to stay somewhere cheaper.
For accommodation I have heard good things about Penguin Camp and Nirvana Hotel. Both these places also have dive centres but I haven't heard anything about them. Does anyone know anything about these dive centres?

Kawm ad Dahab has dahab changed?
Posted: Wed January 12, 2005 09:39 AM UTC
as i am surfing the net, i keep seeing comments about Dahab changing since couple of years ago. a concrete promenade, beduin style cafes on the beach disappearing....
is it really that extreme?has dahab still kept some of its old charm? i am dreaming of those beach cafes with coushines, shisha and just relaxing....

Kawm ad Dahab Scuba & Hotel packages
Posted: Mon December 27, 2004 09:45 PM UTC
I'll be in Dahab in Feb. and want to get PADI Open Water Certified. I was thinking of going through Club Red but then stumbled across Subsinai. They offer package of diving certification plus 7 night accomodation for 240 Euro. Accomodations would be at either "Full Moon Hotel" or "Hotel Pearl of the South." Does anyone know of these places? I can't find any info.
Thanks
