Is it safe to cross the border from Taba to Eilat now (March 08) ? Posted: Sun March 16, 2008 09:42 AM UTC
I am planning to visit Egypt in April 08 and we want to go swimming with the dolphins in Eilat. When I was informing about crossing the border from Taba to Israel, people warned me that that it is not avisable now due to the political situation and that it is possible that the Egyptians might refuse you to return to Egypt. My personal feeling about this is that it is nonsense. Can anyone comment on whether these warnings are correct? If we rent a taxi bus from Sharm al Sheikh to Taba and back (5 persons, +/- 500 km) what would be a reasonable price for that in Egypt? Thanx very much in advance!

Taba to Cairo Posted: Tue February 19, 2008 12:29 AM UTC
Greetings
I am doing a tour of Egypt in July but want to spend some time in Taba before it starts in Cairo. I am travelling with my five year old son which is why I opted for a tour with an operator rather then do it alone. Is the bus trip from Taba to Cairo reliable, daily and reasonable? Look forward to hearing from you seasoned Taba travellers, I am in Queensland, Sunshine Coast so a bit removed from it at the mo. Ta

Travel from Taba --> Cairo Posted: Thu January 3, 2008 11:10 AM UTC
Hi I am interested in making the journey from Eilat to Cairo.
As far as I understand I will need to obtain a passport from the Egyptian consulate, cross over the border and take a bus or taxi from Taba to Cairo.
I would really appreciate it if people could answer a few of my questions.
1) How do I get from the border crossing to the bus station that will take me to Cairo?
2) How much can I expect to pay for the bus fair?
3) Is it a better idea to take a taxi?
4) What's the number and name of the bus station?
5) What's the timetable?
6) How do I get from Cairo by bus back to Taba?
All answers are much appreciated.
Thanks!

I've been unable to find a bus schedule between Cairo and Taba. I would appreciate any info anyone could provide including the name of the bus company, their phone number, time of departure from Cairo, time of arrival to Taba. Also, how much would a cab cost? Would it be a better deal for two travelers? Thanks!

Changing money up Posted: Sat July 7, 2007 11:02 AM UTC
Hi,
Long time since I have been to Egypt but I can recall when I was in Sharm that the best rates for changing money was at the Hotel.
I will soon be in Taba Heights at the Hyatt Regency-- does anyone know if the rates are better at hotels in Taba? Or any advice please.

Is it safe right now? Posted: Tue April 24, 2007 05:36 PM UTC
Some israelis have told me there are Al-Qaeda terrorists in Sinai, Taba, etc. always trying to enter Israel, and that it's very dangerous to travel from Israel to Egypt by land. Is it that dangerous right now? I'm planning to go to Cairo from Eilat in about a month!

Can I walk at 5 am from my hotel in Eilat to the border crossing in Taba? Are there buses at that time of the day? Or does someone know if I can leave my rental car in a parking lot next to the border crossing (on the israeli side)?

Cost of diving packages Posted: Mon March 5, 2007 11:02 AM UTC
I hope someone can help out. I am doing some factfinding for my son who is going to Taba(Regency Hyatt) in late July/August.
He has done quite a bit of diving before and has the advanced certicficate. His main aim this time around is to get more dives in and not to do the next course up.
He says he would like to do something like 10 dives during the two week stay. I wonder if anyone knows what the costs are like. Possibly some info on the dive sites as well and what is included in any dive package. He has his own mask , snorkel and fins.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

A few questions - anyone know the answers? Posted: Mon February 19, 2007 08:28 PM UTC
Taking my 2 children to Taba Heights (TH) in a few weeks for 14 nights, and starting to realise we are a captive audience with no alternatives for the tourist - e.g. expensive
Can anyone help with the following -
1) Hear there are buses (East Delta) running past the entrance to TH, going to Taba and Nuweiba, any idea on times?
2) Can anyone use the Taba to Aqaba ferry, or has it got to be arranged via a travel agent?
3)How hard is the Mt Sinai climb - looks fairly daunting at over 7400ft?
4)Which company is it best to arrange any trips with e.g. Mt Sinai, Petra Etc
5) Any other experiences tips would be most welcome
