Lisbon to get to the place
Posted: Sun July 5, 2009 10:03 AM UTC
Hello.
I'm going to Lisbon in September the first time. Could anybody tell me what is a way better, more convenient and cheaper for one person with luggage from airport of Lisbon to Rua Bernardim Ribeiro?
What is an approximate price to take by taxi?
And what is the weather like in the middle of September usual?
Thanks for help.

Alcácer do Sal Name of bar?
Posted: Sat July 4, 2009 03:54 PM UTC
Still on the hill when driving down to town you will pass a bar. It is maybe 400 meters away from the Pousada. Does anybody know the name of the place and do they have a web page? I have been there and enjoyed it very much. People were nice and joined my playing darts there. Much fun! Now I want to put the place on my page. Would be great if you could help me with the name.
Thanks, Christian.

Here the rough position...

Apart from Algarve Shopping are there any shoe outlets in or around Algarve. I know that in UK a lot of the shoes sold are made in either Spain or Portugal and wonder where I could buy these?

Portugal Traffic at Portugal
Posted: Wed June 24, 2009 09:42 AM UTC
We were allready sure not to rent a car in Portugal, but now we started to think, that maybe for a one day(at Porto). Now I red from Lonely planet book (from year 2005),that Portugese people drive like"grazy" and they have highest number of traffic-deaths in Europe. Is that so?I don´t allways belive Lonely planet books, cause I´ve heard big mistakes on them.My husband allready said, that let´s forget the renting, and go by train. But we´d like to visit Guamaraes,Amarante and Braga(sorry,if I wrote names wrong),so with car we could do it in one day,by train it would be three day-trips.(we will stay all nights in Porto).I think we will deside while we are there, but if someone has some opinions to help us deside,it would be nice.
We will leave at friday,so there´s no so much time anymore to read VT before .

Lisbon Local phone-code?
Posted: Wed June 24, 2009 09:32 AM UTC
I can´t get contact to our rent-lady at Lisbon right now,and we are allready leaving day after tomorrow.I did get her mobile-phonenumber,so I could call/sms her while we are at Porto, and checked our timetables for trains.
But the number seems too short.I have of course Finnish oprators phone, and I think there should be some countrycode at her number,so I could contct her.Can someone tell, what that number is?For example:if you call to my number with Finnish phone, you can call 040544XXX But if you have foreign operator in your phone, you need to call +35840544XXX so we take that 0 away, and put +358 in the front.
Our rentladys number seemed too short to have country-code.It started with 913 and had 9 numbers.

Lisbon Local transport
Posted: Tue June 23, 2009 11:12 AM UTC
I did allready ask this before, but I have lost the answer. We are goin to Portugal at saturday, and I don´t remeber was there any cards to Lisbon trams?I mean like for 10 trips or such?No need for those 1 day or 2 days-tickets,because we wont use them so much, but in Finland all local buses sell 10 or 20 times tickets. That could be usefull for 10 days, two people.I don´t find and don´t remeber what I was answered before.Been too busy last days, and forget everything..

Is this office operational and if so, do they speak English? I am trying to find a statue of one of my relatives but don't speak and Portugese! Thanks

Porto From Porto to Lisboa- train or bus?
Posted: Thu June 11, 2009 01:18 PM UTC
Hello all,

I am travelling on next thursday from Porto to Lisboa. I will first be flying in by ryanair to the Porto airport, staying one night in the city and then going to Lisboa the day after.

Two very silly questions and I would be grateful for your help:

1. any particular recommendations for a night in Porto? Are there must-sees? Wikipedia gives good ideas but i'd appreciate so much your recommendations...

2. I have been told travelling by BUS is FASTER and CHEAPER than travelling by train. In either case of going by bus or train, is reservation or buying tickets online needed? I have done some reserach, didn't see much; i can read portuguese, but the websites don't seem to say that buying tickets on the day of travelling or buying earlier have much fare differences...

Many thanks for your help!

Portugal What Best - Lisbon or coimbra ???
Posted: Wed June 10, 2009 08:32 PM UTC
Hi i am flying to Lisbon at the end of july for a week hols and not sure where to stay either Lisbon or Coimbra. Or anywhere else inbetween these two. Ideally i would like to stay somewhere that offers great entertainment and activities for my 6 yr old son, he will only be with us 4 the first few days so a good nightlife is also essential. We are in our late 20's and do not speak any portugeese so a high english touristism area would be good. Also any comments on sliver coast ?? Any help thanks,

Portugal pinhao
Posted: Wed June 10, 2009 06:53 PM UTC
I'd like to visit wineyards in Pinhao village in the Douro area.

But there are 2 Pinhaos. One near Sabrosa, one near Alijo. Which one is it?

Also, I've been told its worth visiting (and taste) Neipoort and Crasto wines.

I've not found where is the Neipoort wineyard.

I'll travel from Porto by car and I have one full day to explore the area.

thanks for your help

Lisbon Can someone translate a little?
Posted: Tue June 9, 2009 07:59 PM UTC
Is here told how do we get to Optimus alive? If so,can someone tell, what would be our best choise coming from Bairro alto?http://www.optimusalive.com/#/info/como_chegar/
We just looked Rock in Rio from Lisbon last year(it came at Finnish tv) and it looks like you should know how to get to festival and out of there. When so much people leave at same time,it will be..terrible?No chance to take a taxi,I think..Maybe Optimus isn´t as big,but big enough.
I didn´t find any timetable there. It would be nice to know how early it starts, and how late it goes. For a Finn,it looked strange, that it was DARK!We aer used, that it´s dark only at winter!Of course we have been in wetern Europe, and seen the dark nights, but we forgot it when we thought of the festival.Came to mind, that it´s pick pockets paradise-dark and so much people..Must be careful!

Posted: Wed June 3, 2009 10:33 PM UTC
Ill be going to Madeira in Septemember with my boyfriend and I wanted to do a tour so that I can see as much of the island as possible.
Could someone please recommend what part of madeira is the nicest to see, im looking for picturesque/cultural. I need something to keep my boyfriend interested as hes not the biggest fan of culture, so Id like something I know we can both enjoy without me worrying hes bored.

I have found several such as full Day Tours, doing either
*West Tour
*East Tour
*Southwest Tour
*Northeast Tour

or Half Day Tours

*Nuns Valley
*Southeast Coast

Also are the jeep tours better that foot? Thanks for your help.
