I am trying to get some info about how best to travel from Madrid to Burgos. It seems that the trains stop after 6PM on Sundays, and I am arriving in Madrid at 7.30 PM. I need to get there the same Sunday and not sleep over in Madrid.
Does anybody have a clue about buses, trains, mules whatever??
i only have a little more than three weeks to spend studying in spain and i was wondering if i should spend all of those three in salamanca or if it would be ok to spend two in salamanca? ill be studying at a language school and living with a host family. i was wondering whether i shouldnt move around too much. i wanted to go to alicante for a week too. and then to barcelona for a couple of days. should i just stay put in salamanca?

Hi. i'll be in the city very soon, so, in order to plan my trip, i'd like to know if the most important points of the city are near one of the others, and if can hit it well by foot.

Hi,
I'm thinking of going to Salamanca for a week or so in early June.
I was looking for a studio or small apartment to rent in the centre or similar.
Does anyone know of anything, or any good websites where I can get information on short-term rental apartments?
Thanks!
Avila Walls Posted: Tue March 3, 2009 04:10 PM UTC
Can anybody say about time when I may go up to Avila Walls? Is it really possible from 10 till 20 (www.avilaturismo.com)? And where (at what point of walls) is the entrance up?
I will be in Segovia at the beginning (4th) of april - not high season yet but it will be saturday. I don't want to mix with numerous autobus tourists. I have 2 versions of visiting time: about 12 h. and about 15 h. How do you think - what time is better (min. people serve as a criterion)?
In 2006, I was able to travel from Avila to Toledo without going back to Madrid. I can't recall if it was by train or by bus. I would like to make the trip again this year, but I can't seem to find information online or in guidebooks. Anyone have any information on this direct route?
I did not find anywhere the timetables of main Sights of Salamanca. First of all - such monuments as the New and the Old Cathedrals, Las Dueñas Convent and San Esteban convent. Do anybody know where I can see this information ?
Can anyone advise if there is cheap air carrier from Salamanca to La Rochelle, or if a fairly fast train service is available. I will be travelling in May. Thank you.
THE CASTLE OF MANZANARES EL REAL is between Segovia and Madrid. How can I go by any public transportation (bus, train) from Segovia to this castle (NOT FROM MADRID)? Does anyone know anything that could help me?
Hi, we are thinking of spending new years eve 2008 in vallodolid and wondered if anyone could advise how busy it is and whether most of the restaurants and bars have normal opening times, shops etc
In Renfe website I found AVE station in called Segovia Guiomar but nowhere to find its address or how far it is from Segovia Center (lets say around acueduct).
Anyone knows the name of the street?
Is there a line bus which runs *frequently* between AVe station and center?
How much could cost a taxi?
The aim of the is trip is (predominantly) to visit the site of a building we have recently designed. I am looking for suggestions of what to do with them, there will of course be the usual tours of castles and the local Gothic architecture and a trip to the wine museum (so far so predictable!). What I was thinking of was suggestions of different things to do, e.g. given the city's links with film , perhaps a cinema Paradiso type experience (I am drawing a blank with this via the normal channels). Recommendations of restaurants in perhaps unusual surroundings that could take 120 (aprox) architects/designers with an eye for detail and an appetite for good food. Suggestions for other activities e.g I am looking at Kayaking on the Duro, horse riding and that sort of thing. There has been lots of talk of the fact that the city was once the capital of Spain and that the Spanish language apparently originated there. In a nutshell I am interested in as many tips and anecdotes that you can let me have.
if there are any members from the area with a design background who would be willing to be interviewed by me for the booklet to accompany this trip that would be amazing too!
I'm studying at the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca for 4 weeks in July 2008. I am enrolled for shared double room + 3 meals at the University hall for 640euros a month. This seems a bit pricy to me, as I have been looking at ads online (for e.g. www.loquo.com). I know it's trickier because I'm only seeking to flat for 4 weeks, but do you have any suggestions?? I would prefer to cook my own food and have my own room, and for cheaper! ?Es posible, no?
HELP. I have booked a hotel in Segovia on Tuesday, May 27th and have booked a hotel in Salamanca on Wednesday, the 28th. I am having trouble finding transportation between Segovia and Salamanca. Is there is a train route? A bus company that takes that route? We will not be renting a car.
Hi, I will be travelling to Salamanca next week and I was wondering if anyone could give me tips and pointers on where to go to eat or "shop". I'm a student on a very slim budget.
I was wondering if anyone knew if there was short term luggage storage in Avila. I will be staying in Salmanca and will stay the next night in Madrid. If possible, I would like to make a short stop in Avila and see what I can in the time I have but it won't be possible if I have to haul around luggage. Thanks in advance for your help.
My daughter studied at U. of Salamanca several years ago. There, she bought a baby blue sweatshirt (small) with the university's name and logo.
She recently lost that shirt.
Short of flying to Spain to get her a replacement, is there a store in Salamanca that sells similar university clothing, and accepts on-line orders (by credit card) for shipmnet to the US?
Hey there! I'm hopefully gonna be in Salamanca in June and will be travelling with my boyfriend. We'd love to spend as little as possible on accomodation (we're backpacking around spain)and are open to cheap hotels, hostels, guesthouses, camping....
The only thing we do ask is that it would be a private room- I know I'd feel uncomfortable sleeping in a room with strangers.
Hi all! I've been to Salamanca just once but stayed in Hotel Vincci (good rates) which was a bit far from the city. I am taking some friends of mine with me. Some are quite elderly who prefer a hotel in the city center so in case they get tired, it is easy to return to the hotel.
What would be a nice 2 to 3 star hotel in the city center, ranging from around 60 to 80 Euros for a double standard room you can recommend?
What restaurant can anyone recommend to try in the area of the old city or city center?
I received many wonderful suggestions but have decided to go to Avila - I know it will be quite cold! Could you advise how far is it from the train station to the walls? Also I was told the wall can be visited in two segments by the person in the Parador - any experiences with the walls? Are there parts that get iced over and can't be visited? Any of the places that sell the "yemas" better than the other?
Any other hints/ideas for Avila in the cold (other than what's already in the VT pages) welcome!
